While Pav, Hank & Kronner are great, Detroit simply does not have the collection of skilled assets that other players drool over playing with. The cap has made it difficult, but Kenny's philosophy has made it tougher. He has waited three years too long to address his team's needs. Now we are almost the new Calgary Flames. I hope Jimmy D & Mr. I don't take three years to address the GM issies.

Ryan Callahan of the NY Rangers...great work ethic, blocks shots, hits, scores, and lays it all on the line every night

I'm feeling the same way. I don't like Doan much after last years playoffs, but I know he's a talented player, competes hard, and would bring a physical edge to the Wings. He'd make the team better for sure. But as a 35 year old forward, he wouldn't really be a major, lasting improvement to the Wings. And because he's a 35 yr old, if he leaves Phoenix honestly I see him moving to some team that at least on paper looks to be a serious Cup contender for the next couple seasons. That isn't the Wings.

He'd have to actually shoot the puck to have a chance of missing the net

Y'know, I think you pretty much nailed it here. Briere, Hartnell, Simmonds, Giroux, Couturier...if I'm Doan or Ryan, I'm dying to be a Flyer.

That would be a bad trade. If Flip and Nyquist are going anywhere it will be fore Bobby Ryan. Yandle isn't worth that.

Miguel Cabrera. Edit: in all seriousness, that's a tough question. I honestly don't know if I have one at this point. There have been players that I've enjoyed outside of the Wings but they always seem to turn out to be assholes, whiners, or political martyrs.

    Mark Fistric Re-signs with Dallas

When Dallas falls out of the playoff race by February maybe Kenny can trade for him.

I think you are right. I don't think Kenny would extend an offer to a RFA. He hasn't had to in the past. He has had lots of assets & assets wanted to come here. We aren't stacked enough to be attractive in the same way. It's a new day for Kenny Holland. He better strike a new ballance between being respectful of other GM's & improving his team. If Kenny Holland was viewed as a rock star today he should be seen as Pat Boone. Who wants to go see Pat Boone? Nobody! Hell, how many people even know who he is?

I've got alot of favorite players, but Neil is at or near the top of my list. Guy can do everything.

Hands down Chris Neil of the Ottawa Senators. Good size, great hitter, great fighter, gives it all every night.

You should be able to get Bo for the likes of Kindl, Mursak (or Emmerton or Miller) and a pick... Calgary wants to unload him, and the cap relief is part of the deal... That's part of the reason he's so intriguing to me, low cost...

Predators match offer sheet to Shea Weber

Question: If Nashville tanks this season and Weber does want out... what does it take to get Weber into a Detroit jersey next off-season? My guess would be to get good ol' Stevie Y on the phone and work out a nice three way deal again. In fact, I think maybe Holland should try this approach more frequently as so many teams seem unwilling trade with us. Dude you are *so* negative. ...and I can't believe you want to trade Flip over your new whipping boy "Franzine." Whoops. Just noticed Franzine is in the second option... which is still mystifying to me.

Gap year. We're building from within, not with overpaid FA's. Our prospect wave will be rolling through in the next 3 to 4 years. We won't be able to pay them reasonable contracts then if we overpay for FA's now.

That is not how Philly works. If there is a big name available then Philly is always in on it. It's always been that way. It always will be.

The Preds just slammed Weber's head into the glass. Love it.

Am I the only one who just doesn't give a s*** anymore? FA this year has been interminable! Pick a freakin' team and be done with it.

Logo Hunter vs. Missing the Net - Fight!

Mule tries to pick the corners too much and misses the net because of it. Logo Hunter knows no other way to shoot the puck. Together they form the dynamic duo named...The Net Nazis...NO NET FOR YOU!

i guess i can understand the ranking dropping if you take out smith and nyquist. they were indeed 2 of our best prospects. its not to say our cupboard is bare, but we have to remember that all teams have guys they are excited about. and unfortunately, outside of lottery players, you cant get truly excited about a player till he is at least in the ahl and playing well. fans too often cite numbers from juniors as some garuntee players will make it.
