If we don't win the lottery

If we're not getting Lafreniere, it's likely going to be one of Byfield, Drysdale, Raymond, Rossi, Stutzle. I think that's the pool -- and I am more than ok with that. If we get any one of these five players, this draft is a win for the rebuild. Anything else from this draft would be a bonus. Here are some good profiles written up by the folks at The Hockey Writers: Byfield, Quinton Drysdale, Jamie Raymond, Lucas Rossi, Marco Stutzle, Tim And here are some good profiles written up by Ben Kerr for Last Word on Hockey: Byfield, Quinton Drysdale, Jamie Raymond, Lucas Rossi, Marco Stutzle, Tim Honestly, I don't really have a preference hierarchy for this group; to me, there's very little separating any one of these players from any one of the other four. Again, give me any one of these players and I'm a happy camper. Happier than I was when we got Zadina? Yes. These five players are, IMO, better prospects than 2018 Zadina (and you could absolutely make a case for Perfetti, Holtz, Lundell, maybe a couple more). Happier than I was when we got Seider? Also yes. While I wouldn't necessarily bet good money on any one of these players becoming a better NHLer than Lafreniere, it won't be a huge shock to me. These are all fantastic prospects. The fact that one of them will be available at 6th overall (quite possibly later) is pretty wild. If I have to pick one...oof, it's tough. It's really tough. Objectively, Byfield's probably the best pick at 2nd overall. He's the complete package. He's very young, which just makes him that much more projectable. His ceiling is probably higher than anyone else's (maybe even Lafreniere's) and his floor is probably higher than anyone else's. I feel comfortable saying he's going to be, *at minimum*, a slightly better 1C than Larkin is right now. The thought of rolling Byfield-Larkin-Veleno at center gets me hard as f***. Three speedy two-way matchup guys. A matchup nightmare. Wanna load up the top line? Flank Larkin with Byfield and Mantha, or Bertuzzi, or Rasmussen, or Zadina, or Fabbri. Imagine a top-six winger group of Byfield, Mantha, Bertuzzi, Rasmussen. lmfao. So, yeah, gimme Byfield. He's not my absolute favorite 2020 draft-eligible, but I think he makes the most sense for us.

    2020 Draft Thread

Its done behind closed doors... so who knows what they **REALLY** do. I don't trust that process whatsoever.
