Teams that would want Larkin have 1st round picks that are more like high 2nd round picks... I'm not the biggest Larkin guy but you guys are on crack if you'd trade a guy who is now a legitimate 1C (albeit not elite) for a C prospect and a late 1st round pick. Ideally you sign Larkin and move assets for an extended Bo Horvat... if you have Larkin, Horvat, Copp, and Rasmussen down the middle you're an unquestionable cup contender for 5-8 years.

I like your way of thinking, but I would think Horvat wants his try at FA which is fine, sign him and save the load going to Vancouver. Yeah, if you have Larkin, Horvat and Kasper down the middle....

Oh yeah, for me the ask for Larkin at 50% salary retained would start with a 2023 first and a young center with upside.

Trading Larkin would be a horrible idea unless we're getting another first line center back. Our center depth behind him still isn't great.. although Copp has definitely helped.

Good thinking. Any team that's not likely to win in the playoffs should immediately trade any/all pending free agents (provided they were signed by the previous GM). First rate thinking buddy. Apparently there is no next year, or the year after that. If you're not winning this year then you should tear it all down eh? Start another rebuild before your first one is even complete? If Larkin isn't anything special then why would we get anything of value in return for him? And what makes you think a mid to late round pick is likely to be better than him and not another Mantha, Svech, Zadina, Cholowski, or Rasmussen? And if those picks don't pan out after 5 or 6 years and it looks like we'll "get rolled" in the playoffs do we trade Seider and Raymond and start all over again?

Or, ya know, Roenick's always been an idiot and Chiclets is basically just digitized smegma. Now if Millbury would only wink at someone's grandma........

Long time no see everyone, glad to be back! I think this move will bite TO in the ass. Dubas did a bad job constructing this roster, and I see this is as him giving himself a second chance. Maybe Sheldon Keefe meshes better with these particular players, but I worry that TO is about to go down the road of the Oilers a few years ago, a team with great talent on paper, that just can't win. Not to mention, they are likely loosing their entire blueline in the summer. They couldnt have handled the Nylander/Mathews/Marner situation any worse. They should have traded Nylander for a young D-man, the a lesser deal with Marner first, then a larger deal with AM. But hindsight is 20/20.
