betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted November 12, 2006 I know a great deal of Michigan fans who root for MSU when not playing them.... Of course, the big difference is that Michigan is MSU's main rival, while MSU is third behind OSU and Notre Dame on Michigan's list.... Nah, I would put MSU above Notre Dame. Conference rival, in-state rival....Notre Dame doesn't fit either, they're just a diversion. Michigan-Michigan State isn't anywhere near the fierceness of Alabama-Auburn. It's too lopsided. During the week before the Iron Bowl, Alabama and Auburn fans are practically frothing at the mouth. During the week before Michigan-Michigan State, Michigan fans pencil in "victory" and hope the State timekeeper has taken math class this year so we don't have to break out the erasers (they've been gathering dust in the drawer for some years now) and State fans can be overheard mumbling things about basketball season. I suppose the biggest difference between State fans and Michigan fans is that Michigan fans will root for State in a bowl game or in a big non-conference game (we don't often get that chance) and State fans only tune into a Michigan game to see if the field has swallowed up the team yet. Blak, I brought you something

SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted November 12, 2006 (edited) Can't wait for Saturday this upcoming weekend. My living room is going to be like a home theater Saturday afternoon. I know I'll definitely have two TV's set up, one for my school's game, the other with a gigantic antenna getting clear picture for the UM-OSU game as both will be on at the same time. I might actually install a mini-bar too. Go Big Blue! Edited November 12, 2006 by SouthernWingsFan

Hockeytown Red Wings 245 Report post Posted November 12, 2006 Got back from Evanston/Chicago around 4 this morning. I think half the state of Ohio made the same trip. Ryan Field was 80 percent Ohio State fans and that's no exaggeration. Nice blowout win. So the week has begun....how am I supposed to pay attention in class this week? Should be a freakin holiday week because this is one of the biggest weeks in Ohio State history.6 days and 2 hours until I'm in The Shoe for kickoff...GO BUCKS! mannysBETTER3434 1 Report post Posted November 12, 2006 I will not be able to sleep, eat, or do anything. Heck today I was eating breakfast, and was telling my friend what I thought of the game. My friends like "I know you've told me this 1000 times, and its not even monday!" Why has Woodley been a non factor the last two games? Because it's always calm before the storm...... betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted November 12, 2006 A little girl and her mother are walking through the cemetery to pay their respects to Grandpa, when they walk past a tombstone that says, "Here lies a Buckeye and a good man." mannysBETTER3434 1 Report post Posted November 12, 2006 A guy in a bar leans over to the guy next to him and says, "Wanna hear a Buckeye joke?" The guy replies, "Well, before you tell that joke, you should know something I am 6' tall, 200 lbs. and I am an Ohio State Graduate. The guy sitting next to me is 6'2", 225 lbs. and he is an Ohio State Graduate. The guy right next to him is 6'5", 250 lbs. and he is also an Ohio State Graduate. Now, you still wanna tell me that joke?" The first guy says, "No, not if I?m going to have to explain it three times" It was reported that the Ohio Football Coach Jim Tressel will only be dressing 20 players for the Michigan game ...the rest of the players will have to dress themselves! Did you hear that the Ohio State University library burned to the ground? All five books in the library were completely destroyed.... the football team is really upset by the fire; they hadn't colored in two of the books yet! What's the only sign of intelligent life in Columbus? Ann Arbor: 187 Miles How do you get an Ohio Graduate off your front porch? Pay him for the pizza Four college Alumni were climbing a mountain one day: An OSU grad, a Michigan grad, a Penn State grad, and a Notre Dame grad. Each proclaimed to be the most loyal fan of their alma mater. As they climbed higher, they argued as to which of them was the most loyal of all. They continued to argue all the way to the top when the Notre Dame grad hurled himself off the mountainside shouting, "This is for the fighting Irish!" Not wanting to be outdone, the Penn State grad threw himself off the mountain proclaiming, This is for the Nittany Lions!" Seeing this, the Michigan grad walked over and shouted, "This is for the Wolverines!" and pushed the Ohio State grad off the mountain. What did the OSU grad say to the Michigan grad? "Welcome to McDonalds. May I take your order please?" A young man hired by a supermarket reported for his first day of work. The manager greeted him with a warm handshake and smile, gave him a broom and said, "Your first job will be to sweep the store" "But, I'm a OSU graduate," the young man replied indignantly, "I even played football there!" "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know that," said the manager. "Here, give me the broom, I better show you how." Two Ohio State football players were hootin' and hollerin' while partying on campus when a bartender asked them why they were celebrating. The smart one said proudly that they had just finished a jigsaw puzzle and it only took them two months. "Two months?!" exclaimed the bartender. The Buckeye proudly replied, "Yeah, the box said 4 - 6 years!" A Buckeye football player was almost killed today in a tragic horseback riding accident. He fell from the horse and was nearly trampled to death. Luckily, the manager of the Wal-Mart came out an unplugged the horse just in time. Coaches Jim Tressel and Lloyd Carr are walking down the beach talking about the rivalry between Ohio State and Michigan. As they are walking, Lloyd trips over something in the sand. Upon closer inspection it turns out to be a genie's lamp. "Who disturbs me?" asked the genie. Jim and Lloyd both say they did. "You will each get one wish," said the genie. Jim offers to go first. "I want an impenetrable wall built around the entire state of Ohio so that none of those stupid Michiganians can ever get in. I want it as far down into the ground as it is high and I want it to be completely sealed in so that we can finally have our peace!" The genie grants the wish to Jim and his is instantly whisked away to his new paradise The genie now tells Lloyd he'll grant him one wish. Lloyd says, "Fill it up with water." Why is ice no longer available at Ohio State football games? Because the senior who knew the recipe finally graduated. What are the three longest years of a Ohio State football player's life? His freshman year. Why do OSU grads put their dimplomas on their car dash? Handicap parking
betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted November 13, 2006 Haha, you got the same email I got. Why should you drive through Columbus with your windows rolled down? hockeyfanatic 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2006 Does anyone actually understand the computer rankings? The computer places Michigan at #1, Rutgers at #2, and Ohio State at #3. I know it has been ranking UM over OSU (hey, I'm not complaining!) but Rutgers is rather odd. Of course, with the polls included it bumps Rutgers down to #6 in the BCS. Is it Saturday yet? When I read your first joke I had a feeling we both got sent the same email Heres a intersting question for U-M fans and our one real OSU fan... If you could take any players from the other team which ones would you take? I would take Pettrey over Rivas, Jenkins over Morgan Trent, Ginn over Breaston, and whoever OSU's RG is because Ruben Riley sucks. Besides that I wouldnt take any other Buckeye. Yes I know I am forgetting Troy Smith, but Smith wouldn't work in U-M's system as well as Henne.
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted November 13, 2006 Yes I know I am forgetting Troy Smith, but Smith wouldn't work in U-M's system as well as Henne. What does that mean? Michigan's system is "hand the ball off to the RB a lot." There's no pass Henne can make that Smith can't. Smith would certainly change an aspect our current system, which sits at "don't run Chad because you're not very good at it."

Sergei Fedorov91 24 Report post Posted November 13, 2006 (edited) Next week will have a great game as number 2 Michigan will go into columbus to take on number 1 Ohio State. Being a homer I'm going to take Michigan. I think Michigan's defense has been lights out all season long, as Woodley and Harris have stepped up big time for their senior seasons. Ohio State has many weapons but I dont think they've faced a defense as good as Michigans. I know Michigan is NOT going to completely stop Ohio State but maybe they can force some key outs and if we can do that, it's just a question of ball controll. If Hart has the game of his life and Henne and Manningham rediscover their chemistry we'll be able to run the clock down and keep Troy and Ted off the field. I'm predicting Michigan 28 Ohio State 21. mannysBETTER3434 1 Report post Posted November 13, 2006 I don't think Lloyd would have any complaints about altering his game plan to accommodate a dominant running QB. No he wouldn't...I agree. In fact, we almost got Tim Tebow last year (the freshmen Flordia QB) Okay its not even Monday, but I'm saying 27-19 Michigan
RockyMountainWingGal 108 Report post Posted November 13, 2006 I would sooner poke my eyes out with a rusty knife than cheer for Michigan. This is why no Spartans are coming to my house next Saturday to watch the game. If OSU and MSU were playing ranked #1 and 2- vying for a birth in the NC game, I would surely root for the Spartans - even have a few spare Sparty shirts I could wear (of course I'll be long dead before this ever happens ). Incidently, the way it looks right now, if both UM and OSU win their bowl games I think they should be 1-2 in the polls (I don't see how any of the few 1 loss teams remaining could leap over a 1 loss UM or OSU). Thats my point...its the story of every Michigan QB the last 15 years. It's OK with me - it works in our system and it's how most successful NFL QBs play. I think guys like Michael Vick are way overrated, imo. I'd take an immobile guy like Manning who can pass like Superman any day over a scrambler. Leave that to the RBs. Shocking Timothy is a "buckeye fan" now. MSU fans are more happy when U-M loses then their own team winning. The only true Buckeye fan here is Hockeytown Red Wings, and I respect that b/c he goes to tOSU. BRING ON THE BUCKEYES!!!!!!!!!!! lol. Happy Pancake 6 Report post Posted November 13, 2006 (edited) I can confidently say that if by the grace of God that if Michigan wins, it will be the happiest day of my 21 year old life. Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted November 13, 2006 It's OK with me - it works in our system and it's how most successful NFL QBs play. We're not talking about the NFL, though. Running QBs are always much, much, much more successful in college football. So, you know, I sure wouldn't mind one wearing the maize and blue someday. Of course, I'm more than happy and glad that we have a quality pocket passer like Henne on our side for this and next year.

Not that that's a realistic scenario, but I'm with ya - I would root hard for MSU to knock off the Buckeyes. The list of teams I'd root for State against is fairly long and distinguished - though OSU is the only Big Ten team on the list. But I'd still root for Ohio State in any game against Florida State. Prediction is Michigan 24, Marijuana Stickers 20. Michigan has the clear advantage in the trenches on both sides of the ball. I don't think Ohio State's D-line can do anything about Michigan's ball-control running game, and Michigan's front 7 is much better equipped to handle Troy Smith this year. What he might have turned into a 15-yard run last year becomes a 4-yarder this year, and what was a 4-yard run becomes a sack. The whole front 7, especially Woodley, Harris, and Branch, can really get after it. 29.9 rushing yards per game says it all.
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted November 13, 2006 ^^^ Truth. Prescott Burgess's injury is cause for concern, however. But surely, Antonio Pittman does not strike fear into the heart of the Wolverine defense. Their passing game will still be effective, but obviously not for the piles of TDs they've become accustomed to. On the flip side of the ball, Hart won't have any problems holding up his end of the bargain. It's up to Manningham to get up to speed to open up the passing game, though. It'll be a close one, but defense will win the day. Carr's demons against the Tressel-led Buckeyes will be exorcised, and we'll see our boys in Arizona this January. mannysBETTER3434 1 Report post Posted November 13, 2006 ^^^ . Carr's demons against the Tressel-led Buckeyes will be exorcised, and we'll see our boys in Arizona this January. Your right on. If Carr beats Tre$$el this game Carr can give the middle finger to both Tre$$el and all of the media that has bashed him for so long. Tre$$el's record against Carr will not matter if Carr wins this game. Prediction is Michigan 24, Marijuana Stickers 20. Michigan has the clear advantage in the trenches on both sides of the ball. I don't think Never heard the Marijuana Stickers before. Anyway though I agree on the D...its the best front 7 in the country hands down. Defense wins championships. lol. Running QBs are always much, much, much more successful in college football. So, you know, I sure wouldn't mind one wearing the maize and blue someday. Of course, I'm more than happy and glad that we have a quality pocket passer like Henne on our side for this and next year. Well it will be at least another 4 years before U-M explored getting a running QB. Ryan Mallett (No. 2 HS QB in nation) will be coming here next year, and he's a pocket passer. Although U-M backup Jason Forcier is a scrambler, but I don't think he's in U-M's plans with Mallett coming in soon.
