Mike Price is one you won't get, as is Willingham. Willingham is settling in nicely at UW, and Price is coaching at UTEP and doing a decent job of turning that program around.

I hope the Spartans don't get Brian Kelly. He's made CMU into a bowl team already. Not the guy I want coaching at Cow College.

That's why I want Kelly. I did my undergrad at GVSU when he was there, and he turned them into the best D2 program in the country. He's turned CMU around. A little more coaching expierence at the D1 level probably couldn't hurt him, but I'd be very happy with him.

Pat Shurmur is still my top choice, but I wouldn't say no to Brian Kelly.

Another Sparty coach somewhat caned by Michigan =]

I think it was more Illinois and Indiana that did the cowboy in.

I've read online about a lot of people not wanting Shurmur because he has no head coach experience simular to Bobby Williams. But Weis/Carr wearn't head coaches either....

Anyone read/hear Kirk Herbstreits comments on U-M? Usually I like Herby, but I was offended after he called Steve Breaston worthless. No "expert" has the right to call any college athlete worthless. If he would have called Breaston disapointing I would have agreed and had no problem, but worthless is crossing the line. Herby should shut his mouth since he was "worthless" (0-4-1) against U-M.

Well, I agree with him...on most accounts, but I would.

Herbie's radio show here in Columbus is probably as biased as ever now that we approach the biggest game in rivalry history. "Worthless" was a poor choice of words, if he did infact say that. But Herbie is different than most Ohio State guys, he doesnt hate Michigan. He actually has a lot of respect for them.

Breaston is an excellent kick returner, but I havent seem develop into any kind of reliable receiver. He can make big plays but sometimes he drops the plays he should make. Still, kind of a cheap shot, I would agree.

I actually agree with everything he says..hes right U-M offense is struggling, hes right the OSU O can spread the D, and hes right Breaston is struggling. If he would have said Breaston was disapointing, average, or not playing well I would have had no problem. I just don't think worthless should be used on any college athlete. If he was pro its his right, but college is different.

Agreed, most Michigan fans would agree that Breaston hasn't played well recently. Also, Michigan will have to play as close to perfection as possible to beat OSU this year. Two, three, four drops a game will not cut it at all against OSU.

Let's hope this week's scrimmage helps rekindle Michigan's offense.

I forgive Herby...here his side of the story. Hes right he got "painted" in the corner by media...

Kirk: "First of all, I did not call Steve Breaston worthless. I called his production in the Michigan offense worthless since his freshman year. That was probably said more out of frustration for Steve and wishing that he were more of a factor because of his ability to make big plays. I really regret that the newspaper painted me into a corner, making it look as if I called Steve worthless, which I never did. And I would never call any player worthless. But the facts are the facts and he has not been involved in this offense consistently since his freshman year."

Kirk Herbstreit: (3:27 PM ET ) "The other thing that really ticked me off about that article was the headline that said that I feel that the Michigan defense will fail against Ohio State. I NEVER said Michigan's defense would "fail". I simply said they would not be able to dominate the Ohio State offense the way they've enjoyed dominating everybody they've played up to this point. I take a lot of pride in the fact that I'm an objective analyst, and anybody who's listened to me analyze Michigan over the last 11 years on ESPN, if they were being honest with themselves, would have to say I've always been fair to Michigan. If there's any regret that I have, it would be in using the word "worthless" to describe Breaston's productivity in the Michigan offense. That was not a term that I would ever use about a player and the person who he is. And it was clearly misconstrued, misrepresented and mean-spirited by the paper. I will continue to be objective and I will continue to enjoy seeing Michigan play well. As far as Eddie George's party, for me and my travels, I don't get a chance to see former players very often and I took Eddie's comments about a get-together as just that, win or lose that a bunch of former players were all going to get together. I hope all of the Michigan fans understand that this was clearly an attempt to paint me into a corner, as being anti-Michigan, which is the furthest thing from the truth. I've talked with Bill Martin, the Athletic Director and I have a call into coach Carr. And I'm looking forward to seeing Michigan win their next two games and I literally can't sleep because of my excitement about the Maize and Blue and Scarlet and Gray meeting to decide which of the two teams will play for the national title."

Louisville over West Virginia....looks like L'ville moves into the 3rd spot this week (again, barring a ridiculous upset in the Big Ten). If they get past Rutgers, it looks like Louisville in the title game....otherwise, who knows what the hell?

Moral bonus for Ohio State - looks like they'll finally get the two missing first place media votes, as there were two deluded crackheads who kept insisting on putting West Virginia at the top of their ballots.

34-26 against Ball State? Come on guys!

They'll be fine, I don't see how they'll slip much from the BCS rankings, should stay at #2 assuming OSU wins.

The two schools I closely follow played on TV both at the same time, so my living room looks like a home theater right now with multiple TVs.

In one of the nobody gives a poot game, TCU won a less than inspiring effort against UNLV by 15 when it should've been at least 30.

Currently watching LSU-Tennessee. JaMarcus Russell did his typical brainfarts against big teams early throwing for an INT for a TD, but he's led LSU to two straight TD's after the mishap. Give him credit for that. 21-17 LSU late in the 3rd.

I think thats doubtful. Reason being is the pollsters carry a "what have you done for me lately" attitude. Meaning if 2 teams have 1 loss the one that lost last is usually lower ranked. Loser of UM/OSU will just automatically be dropped to #3. It shouldnt be like that but thats just the way its always been. There would have to be a big difference in the BCS pts going into the game to overcome that flip flop.

If Michigan beats OSU and the game is close, I could see OSU retaining second place. Especially if Rutgers beats Lousiville.

I was at the Ball State game...it was ugly to say the least. Brandon Minor played very well though, but part of the reason of the Ball State comeback was U-M's 2nd string D was in. I guess you can't blame them though after a brutal 6 game stretch playing ND, PSU, WIS, Minn, Iowa, and MSU. Those games take a lot out of you mentally.

Yeah, I'm glad the mental meltdown came against Ball State and not Indiana. IU is just good enough to take advantage for real and spoil everything. Now I expect them to lock it down when they travel to Bloomington - there won't be the "last home game" distraction, for one.

OSU had a scare too. Who'd'a thunk that of all weekends, Ball State and Illinois would be the ones where Michigan suffers a defensive breakdown and Ohio State can't get anything going on offense?

On a Grand Rapids radio station Jim Harabaugh's brother said if offered Jim would take the MSU job. This scares me, but I guess they're going to go after English hard.

Just like MSU, U-M may have a new coach too. Word is Carr is close to retiring...as soon as this year if they win out (knock on wood)

Heres a list from the Rivals board according to U-M insiders

1) Kirk Ferentz- Assistant AD at U-M hired Ferentz at Iowa while working there. Ferentz's daughters go to U-M

2) Les Miles- Just got a huge extenstion, but he has one clause. He can leave for U-M anytime if hired because he used to be an assistant there.

3) Ron English- If Carr did retire, he would do everything in his power to get English the job...simular to what Bo did to Carr

4) Mike Tvogorac- Defensive Coordinator for the Carolina Panthers, and former U-M LB.

5) The following very unlikley, but have connections.... Urban Meyer (contract clause), John Gruden (said if he ever coached college he would want U-M/OSU), Mike Cameron (Chargers OC, former U-M coach), Mike Debord (current U-M OC)

Watching Saturdays game against Illinois was like being at the dentist. I really really hope that Tressel was consciously calling run after run inbetween the tackles for 2 yard gains.

It could be a good thing, we hadnt played a game yet where the last minute mattered...of course they gave up a touchdown but they held on.
