betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted November 29, 2006 And miss the thrilling excitment of the motor city bowl??? Never!!! Motor City Bowl would be in my dream 15, because I'm very biased to Detroit. I'm thinkin': Rose - Sugar - Orange - Fiesta - Cotton - Holiday - Citrus - Peach - Gator - Liberty - Independence - Aloha - Sun - Motor City - Hall of Fame. Hall of Fame Bowl is now known as the Outback Bowl. I could be persuaded to add the Copper Bowl (currently the Insight Bowl), Las Vegas Bowl, Alamo Bowl, and Music City Bowl. That's still only 19, much better than the ridiculous 31 we have now. 32 with the title game. Papajohns.com Bowl??????
Hockeytown Red Wings 245 Report post Posted November 29, 2006 My favorite bowl game, and I couldnt believe it when I saw it a year or two ago.... The San Diego Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted November 30, 2006 (edited) Hey............I might be attending the bowl game my school is in, the very first one to kick off the bowl season, the Poinsettia Bowl, so watch the low-blows. In all seriousness, I really might be going to that game. EDIT: Also, I've heard rumors down in my neck of the woods on one of the main AM radio stations down here that LSU will be offered an invitation to the Rose Bowl. I'd like to see USC lose and Michigan get back in that #2 spot, but I'd also love to see a Michigan-LSU matchup as well. mannysBETTER3434 1 Report post Posted November 30, 2006 LSU would be a great game. LSU is very FAST! It would be interesting to watch SEC speed vs the Big Ten's power and grit. Will U-M be playing against their future coach??
Legionnaire11 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2006 Looks like Middle Tennessee State is definitely going to the Motor City Bowl. MTSU is just down the road from me and Alma Mater to just about everyone in my circle of friends and family. Middle are Co-Champions of the sunbelt for the second time since coming up to I-A 6 years ago. Finished with a 7-5 record with losses to Maryland, Oklahoma, Louisville, South Carolina and Sun Belt Co-Champs Troy (by 1 point). Players to watch: QB - #17 Clint Marks. Very accurate passer and great senior leader. Owns many school passing records. The one's he doesn't have are generally held by Wes Counts, Jonathon Quinn and Kelly Holcomb. Very good company to be in for a Sun Belt school. RB - #20 Eugene Gross. Workhorse back, owns many of the school rushing records. He won't impress much in the first half, but he wears opposing defenses down and does a lot of damage in the second half. DB/KR - #5 Damon Nickson. Leads the entire nation in Kick Returning. Had a 4 interception game against Arkansas State this season. Always a threat to score on any return. LB - #25 J.K. Sabb. Defensive leader. One of those linebackers who seems to always be in the right spot and around the ball. K/P - #46 Colby Smith. One of the highest Punting averages in the nation. Has been on the Groza watch list for 3 seasons. Last week kicked a 48 yard FG into the wind. Owns the school record with a 79 yard punt in week 1 of this season. Will almost certainly be in an NFL camp. So, those are the Blue Raiders. They'll be facing your own Central Michigan. If you don't have tickets yet, go buy some because MTSU is a very entertaining team to watch!! (and I already know that you don't care, but whatever)
Hockeytown Red Wings 245 Report post Posted November 30, 2006 I have somewhat of a rooting interest in MTSU. Playing NCAA Football games growing up I'd always end up starting a dynasty with those Blue Raiders and turn them into a powerhouse. Good times.

betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted December 1, 2006 So next year, Division I will no longer be divided into I-A and I-AA, but the "bowl subdivision" and the "championship subdivision". Uh, what's the point?

Happy Pancake 6 Report post Posted December 1, 2006 I see OSU beating the pants off USC (*groan*) so if Michigan wins the Rose Bowl, I don't see them having any problem sliding back into #2. Not that #2 even matters at that point.
mannysBETTER3434 1 Report post Posted December 1, 2006 If U-M wins I see them being No.2...you're right it doesn't matter, but it will start a bunch of "what if U-M played OSU again..."

mannysBETTER3434 1 Report post Posted December 1, 2006 Bad news for MSU. Keith Nichol de-commited and went to Oklahoma. Nichol is a very good QB. My old high school played against him every year. So I've got to watch him several times. Also MSU's highly recruited SS Quincy Landinham de-commited and is heading to Wisconson. The bad news continues...... It sounds like from reading the paper today that he has a chance to play earlier at OK then at MSU. Plus you can compete for a Big 12 title instantly. Plus you can compete for a Big 12 title instantly. It probably has everything to do with the change of coaches. Schools always lose a couple of commits when they fire the coach that recruited them. It's happening to Miami too.

The off the field problems really don't help either. U-M may get one of Miami's commited CB's, but well see. Heres the article I read on Nichol today if anyone is intereested... http://www.mlive.com/preps/grpress/index.s....xml&coll=
