TKACHUK or GUERIN ?

How about the Leopold/Tanguay deal from the draft? Or the Theo Fleury deal before that? Colorado and Calgary certainly don't seem to mind.

Drurymorris? :)

One of my favorite trades... Colorado flushing away their clutch goal-scorer when they still had Patrick Roy.

Slight nod to Tkachuk.

Both seem to be a bit on the decline, but they are far from finished in the NHL.

Tkachuk seems like more of a risk with injuries, but to me it seems like he's willing to crash the net a little more and has a bit nastier edge than Guerin.

With that being said though, Guerin is no slouch either.

I'd be happy if either one of them somehow was on the Wings after the trading deadline.

Where would you put one of them though, assuming one of them becomes a Wing obviously? My first initial guess would be to naturally say w/ Zetterberg and Datsyuk to free them some space, but I really don't know if I want to break Holmstrom up from that line. To me, Guerin or Tkachuk could do the dirty work a little bit better than Holmstrom, at least in terms of throwing their weight around, but we all know what Holmstrom can bring to the table by going in front of the net and all that good stuff.

Those three have brought it almost every night since late December, why break up a good thing now in terms of that line...

I'd like to preface my post with one thing: I don't want to get our team into the mentality that we NEED another player to be successful in the playoffs. However, an addition or two would surely be good.

Tough call on which out of the two...but if we could get either a player like Jamal Mayers or Marty Lapointe in addition:

I'd take Guerin.

But if we are only eventually going to be able to land one player:

I'd take Tkachuk.

I think our priority right now is a big phsyical player over a fast, scorer. The Flyers game this week is going to be the most viewed game tape by our opposition in the playoffs. They will pin what the Flyers did to us that night, as a major piece to a winnng recipe to beat the Wings.

If we look at our stable of talent, there is no reason we should be looking for more scoring. The fact is, we have a slew of players that haven't been producing as of late (Lang, Williams, Cleary ((I thought I'd never be able to say that)), and Schnieder, Kronwall (who IS expected to produce offense)). In addition, with Sammy being hurt we're missing some points there as well.

I think if you look at the season up till now, we've been doing well in the scoring department, not great by any means...but good enough to be beating most teams on most nights.

good point overall, but I do miss the point why a defensive defenseman is

supposed to score goals. Kronner is here to prevent goals not to score

points and he's perfectly fine at this craft.

on the other hand - I took a quick look through the NHL rosters and found

following RW which should to be fit on Hollands pockets and suit our needs:

Jamal Mayers (Blues)

Anson Carter (Jackets)

Marty Lapointe, Radim Vrbata (Hawks)

Chris Clark (Caps)

Trent Hunter, Aaron Asham (Islanders)

correct me if some of those are for any reason unavailable or unrealistic.

but what's your opinion about pairs of those? how's Mayers + Hunter?

or if Isles keep floating in playoff picture: Mayers + Clark?

Defensive defenseman?

Kronner is not making 3 million a year because of his defensive abilities...he's expected to produce points too...

cool. now he has 17 points this season which is about the level

of Franzenstein and slightly less than Drapes. sure, Kronwal

has more ice time but he has different job to do.

numbers do not tell the stories about players. and most certainly

not about defencemen. Shane O'Brien of Ducks has 14 points

and you could barely find a reason to comply about his play

I would go for Guerin because there is a slight hope of re-signing him. But Tkachuk has sort of said he would be interested in being a rental player and returning to St. Louis in the off season. Bertuzzi over both of these guys though.

What are the contracts of bertuzzi and guerin?

big.

Bertuzzi has 5.3 M$/yr. not for Holland's pockets, exccept if Lang and someone else leaves

Guerin makes 2.4 M$/yr. much better to chew on

But its prorated. So they could probably take on Bert without too much of a problem but I do agree that Guerin would be easier and easier to pick up another forward if they can.

Of the two discussed I like Guerin. I think putting him with Lang would be good. But they I think they also need a bit of a grinder who can play on a checking line or a scoring line if needed. But the name I like thats being thrown out there now is Glen Murray but his salary is right in between Guerin and Bertuzzi and I am not sure if hes a FA after this season.

And on the trading within divisions, others have said it already but its true when you are out of the playoffs and the guy might not stay where you send him it doesn't matter because you want to get some young blood for the future. If anything its the team thats buying that might be more reserved to do the trade because maybe that young guy comes back to haunt them later on.

out for the rest of the year, and besides no thanks!

The rest of the year? Hes supposed to play soon, last I heard was the 20th. Now I think his back injury could be a risk but if the deal is right....I don't know.

Glen Murray is big, soft, lazy and one-dimensional. Worse than Lang for the money. A Guerin guy is what's needed. Perhaps a Drake, Mayers, or similar addition to the checking unit. I'd also like to see a Schneider for bruiser swap.

from the blues i would rather see Billy G. He plays with an edge and can score goals. He kind of reminds me a Shanahan styled player.

I would love to Ryan Smyth become a wing. I think that he would be an awsome addition to the team and could bring some grity play to our team.

Do you have a link to that, because he's going to be in the lineup in a week most likly be able to play 3 or 4 games before the deadline and see how is back is feeling
