Wings acquire Kyle Calder in 3-way deal

Williams will almost certainly score at least one goal when the teams play next. Mark my words. :)

Williams shoots and Lilja kicks it in.

EDIT: That would probably be the first time those two connected for a goal! :yowza:

3-way trade announced on Habs game radio broadcast.

PHI gets prospect D Lasse Kukkonen

DET gets Kyle Calder

CHI gets Jason Williams

Sorry if you already heard.

Holy shiat!

It's been so long since a change to the team that I'm positively shocked to see a roster change! Talk about tipsy-turvy..

If the Wings were the Lions, he'd be guaranteed a hat trick

Here's a Flyers fan's take from HFBoards:

great deal for DET. Calder has been playing much better over the last two months. especially on the PK. i think he will find his scoring touch in DET with better set up men feeding him. you can throw calder's junk numbers this season out the window, he will be coming to DET on cloud nine looking forward to the fresh start and a chance to fight in the playoffs for the cup.

Not only did Chicago give up Kukkonen, they gave up a 3rd pick to get Williams.....WTF AM I MISSING HERE?

Don't forget that Calder was originally traded for Handzus...

Yeah, tomorrow night. I sort of hope it happens, actually.

Are you nuts? I hope he makes a blind pass point-to-point while on a Chicago power-play and Draper takes it end-to-end and puts a roof-shot past Khabibulin.

His -31 will be -15 at the end of the season. This move was one step towards better playoff-Wings. Tricky puckmover traded to energized hard-worker. Just what we needed. Calder will be another Cleary, not Williams.

Now get Guerin.

:siren: I like the sound of this! Thanks for some optimism, I don't think stats alone can tell the entire story on a team like the Flyers.

Oh, come on, it would be sort of humorous. After all the the whining and complaining about him around here, it would be awfully funny if he scored. Maybe? No? Alright.

Blackhawks' general manager Dale Tallon explained that the club was excited to get Williams, “we've been trying to acquire Jason Williams since last summer.â€Â

“He is a quality individual who can add to our team offensively and can also play the point on the power play. We feel with his speed and skill he is another piece of the puzzle as we continue to move forward in making our team better,†said Tallon.

:D

I am happy about this deal. Not only has Calder been playing well the past couple of months, he is also a better hockey player than Jason Williams. Yeah, he's a little more of a cap hit (pro-rated) for the remainder of the season but Jason Williams' salary and his minutes are off the books from next season! And no more Willy on the point, woo!

Assets: Provides his team with a bundle of energy every shift. Has a propensity to step it up in key situations. Can play effectively at any forward position. Is developing his offensive game.

Flaws: Needs to bulk up in order to survive playing an in-your-face style at the NHL level. May have already topped out his offensive production.

Career potential: Top six winger.

 hmm... even sounds shrewd now! Good job Kenny.

He'll score the winner in the shootout. :P

So will we finally not have a foward on the point in the pp? Because that would be great.

completely agree. Also, my impression is that Calder is the sort of player that goes into the corners and towards the net. Both players had great years last season and were due for a change of scenery. Good trade for Jason, Detroit and Philly...as for Chicago, time will tell....

Well, before you start BITCHING at everyone for BITCHING, just remember that Holland promised a top 6 forward for the cup run.....and i'm sorry but Calder isn't even close...And this f*cking trade, as you call it, didn't make us any better for the cup run...

If he will play on the second line that would make him top 6 forward, would not it?
