HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted March 31, 2007 Okay boys, story of my night. I leave for hockey at about 9:15, the score is 3-0. I go to hockey all happy, play great. So I come home late at about 1am, I look on NHL.com, and Detroit LOSES 4-3 in a shootout! SOMEONE EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT IN THE f***?! The Wings slacked off the last 5-10 minutes of the game. The Stars picked up on it and scored three times within about 7 minutes. Going into the shootout Dom made the first save, Datsyuk doesn't score, Zubov scores, Cleary doesn't score, Dom makes another save, Bertuzzi doesn't score. Game over. unkempt 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2007 I dont have the strenght to read the whole story - were there any weak goals allowed by Dom or just defensive breakdowns?
BeeRYCE 2 Report post Posted March 31, 2007 I doubt the goals were weak... Dom was playing GREAT, from what I saw. I just don't imagine his momentum dying that drastically.

Blood On The Ice 15 Report post Posted March 31, 2007 why are we so friggin awful at SO's? Because Babs put Cleary and Burt in on the Shootout. Fippula and Hudler should have been there. This team is playing not to win the presidents cup and 1st in the west.

joshy207 156 Report post Posted March 31, 2007 I dont have the strenght to read the whole story - were there any weak goals allowed by Dom or just defensive breakdowns? First one, Dom coulda/shoulda had. It was a slow shot by Morrow that just snuck under his forearm as he was sliding across to make the save. Not so much "his fault" as it was a fluke--goals like that just happen sometimes. Second one, Wings had 3 defenders down low, but Schneider didn't pick anyone up and instead turned to face the incoming shot from the guy Draper (I think) was already covering. Dom made the save but the rebound kicked out to Ribeiro, who was the open guy, and he banged it in the open net. Third one, the Wings' left winger let Boucher walk in from the point, he got a pass from the corner and his shot beat Hasek. Again, bad coverage.

Mors 201 Report post Posted March 31, 2007 Babcock is delusional with his shootout picks...I honestly have no ******* clue why he chooses so randomly. Unless he just hates Hudler and Filppula, 'cause I think they both have way better chances in the shootout than Cleary or Bertuzzi.

Mors 201 Report post Posted March 31, 2007 Yeah way to go babs. Hey, this is a professional sport we're talking about here, not schoolyard dodgeball selections...he doesn't have to make everyone on the team feel better by giving equal chances to everyone. Put the guys in who actually have the hands to get the job done, case in point being Samuellson a couple games back...sweet slapshot he took...in the shootout...from 20 ft away... Offsides 21 Report post Posted March 31, 2007 Yeah, but Cleary almost always scores on the shootout. I approve of him in the shootout. Bert hasn't scored yet on the shootout, but he's had some good moves. Flip was horrible the last time he was in a shootout...he just shot it at the goalie's chest. I would like to see Hudler once in a while replacing Bert, or as a 4th shooter, but we didn't get to the fourth shooter last night.
Jwo 7 Report post Posted March 31, 2007 just wow just wow. I hope they do not pull this stunt in the playoffs.

Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted March 31, 2007 Because Babs put Cleary and Burt in on the Shootout. Fippula and Hudler should have been there. This team is playing not to win the presidents cup and 1st in the west. Can you chekc out Filpula and Hudlers shooutout stats for me ? Because Im pretty sure Cleary has more shootout goals and is way more depenable. Everyone should calm down , so we suck in shootouts , it doesnt matter. There are no shootouts in the Playoffs.
