Post-GAME 5: Red Wings 5, Flames 1 (4/21)

Well, I just got back from watching the third period at Cheli's after spending the afternoon at Comerica Park (Sorry, I HAD to enjoy the weather today), but I'm glad I got to see the crap with my own eyes in the third. I'll say Jamie gets 10, Langkow gets 2. The suspensions lately have dealt specifically with cheap punches to faces (Tootoo, May). Iginla, I just can't see him doing anything wrong. His penalty wasn't even for butt ending, but for hooking.

Did Babcock say anything in a postgame conference? NBC didn't carry anything here...

No, not from what I've seen. Hopefully the radio feed or something else picked up on his comments on McLennan, and the Flames dirty s*** in general.

Hey everyone! Just got back from the game. I can honestly say that I have never been so disgusting by a team as I was Calgary in the last 5 minutes. IMO, there should be multiple suspensions... that said, I thought Zetterberg, Cleary, and Chelios played awesome today!!

Does anyone know what happened to Lebda? And what actually happened to Cleary in the second? I saw him laying face down, but no one near me knew what happened. Thanks!

Cleary caught a rut and fell quite awkwardly into the boards.

Quotes from players (love Hasek's!) per ESPN:

"It doesn't belong in hockey," said Franzen, who said the slash shocked him more than it hurt.

"I think the league will take a look at a few things that happened," Zetterberg said.

"It was really about getting some fights going at that point to keep our energy up and carry some anger into the next game," Douchebag McCocksucker (a.k.a. Iginla) said with several new stitches over his left eye. "We're not going away."

"I was really disappointed. Not a little, but a lot," Hasek said. "Their goalie, what he did and Iginla, he's the captain of the team and should be in charge. Those last 5 or 6 minutes if you were watching on TV, I think it was sort of disappointing."

If tomorrow's game is anything like today's, and the Wings win, they should just go straight into the dressing room. f*** shaking hands with those dirtbags.

"Playfair" my ass!

we dont want to stoop to their level. we need to handle this on the ice with class

The sad thing...or the good thing...depends on how you look at it...is that this is the most I've ever seen Wing fans band together.

The common enemy and extreme hatred for the Flames is causing us to focus on that instead of bashing and ripping apart our own team...and also to all come together for a common goal...ha ha.

I was at the game so I missed the wonderful GDT today, so I want to kind of put my two cents in on the game. For one, Cleary was the man. His goal sparked the team, but even more him coming back was huge. Second, it was wonderful to see Hank get some goals and I have been impressed by Lilja (shocker). Lastly, the end of this game. The guy on 1270 said he would like to compare the Flames to little girls, but that would be insulting to little girls and that is exactly what it was like. The first slash by the backup goal came about 2 seconds into his short time and Kipper never took his helmet off while he was on the bench...this was most definitely instructed by Playfield. And can someone tell me what happened to Lebda?

Good point. This will only make it sweeter when we beat them.

Playfair should get suspended. This is the exact same thing as sending your goons out on the ice to start fights at the end of a game.

Here's hoping Kiprusoff gets food poisoning and cannot play tomorrow. Let Calgary go with their third string goalie.

Somebody said that they heard on TSN that Lebda is out with a concussion. I dont know if this has been confirmed yet though.

Lebda got hurt when the Calgary player (dont' remeber who it was) sucker punched after they collided?

If that's true, Langkow is definitely suspended....

Someone on another board said that CBC's feed had a good look at the butt-end by Iginla. Did anyone see that? It wasn't clear on NBC's shot, but i wouldn't be shocked a bit if that's what he did.

Interesting. I am confused by his injury, because when he left the ice, he was putting zero pressure on his leg... Anyways, I hope that he is okay.

I knew I would get this "stoop to their level" statement from someone, and to that I say, if the league is unwilling to do anything about cheap, dirty play like the Flames just displayed, that's truly hurting our game, then Detroit should make a statement by not shaking hands. This will at the very least, draw attention to the situation since the NHL continues to ignore it. It'll get people talking is all.

Just leave them standing on the ice looking like the clowns they are. Explain why afterwards in a press conference.
