Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted June 18, 2007 Maybe Pronger got confused and elbowed it, thinking it was a player named Stanley
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted June 18, 2007 You give it up. Cause the fact is, if the Wings ever did anything to the Cu, it was fixed up before being put on display in public for everyone to see. The Stanley Cup is the most historic trophy in sports. I think the least the Ducks could do is have it presentable for all the people there. Instead of a baseball sized dent. Disgraceful, just like most of the Ducks. :violin: The Ducks denting the Cup when other teams have done it as well! Oh the humanity! What a bunch of jackasses! /extreme sarcasm
MIN8TV 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2007 Thanks for the pics. I already forgot who won the cup. For the sake of God. NOBODY CARES!
RedRockit 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2007 I don't know what to tell you dude. I see a dent on the first small ring in all three photos which are taken from different distances and angles. And my intent wasn't for this to be a "That SoCal hockey team doesn't deserve the Cup!" thread. I had made a joke about Pronger elbowing it and denting the Cup in another thread, before I realized it actually had gotten dented. I guess I should've thrown a couple smiley faces in my initial post. I just thought it was funny, especially considering the speed with which they dented it. I would bet not too many players, if any, had their day with it at that point. Darrlin' (I can say that, I'm a CHICK!), I know you didn't mean to make a deal of it-- I just still don't see the dents. (but then, I could never find Waldo, either). And this IS a fun thread, with or without emotismilicons. And you are not in need of Kegels. I'm sure your girlfriend is, however . (think it through, that's a HUGE compliment to you.
LeftWinger 5,153 Report post Posted June 19, 2007 ...well, that is what happens when a team doesn't "EARN" the cup. They are given a free ride to the championship and then since they don't what it takes to really earn it, they don't know what it takes to respect it. Gary Bettman should be ashamed, but I see him snikering like Mr. Burns of the Simpsons, right along side Doug Steenland... ...I would call these guys brothers... Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted June 19, 2007 (edited) Is there a link or something? Or are we suppose to see the dent in those pics??? Well if it is true, big shock that the team of classless goons would dent Lord Stanley's Cup. Pathetic. Oh for God sakes... Dom threw the Cup at the bottom of a pool when he had it. Other players have had their children baptized in it (Sylvain Lefebvre). Some players have pissed on it actually. It's nothing new. Just give it up already with the Ducks goon s***. It's done and overwith. Christ. Edited June 19, 2007 by Kp-Wings

They won in 16 games, they won despite LEADING THE LEAGUE in penalties, they won in spite of many of us in here not liking many of their players. They weren't handed s**t. Get over it. Most are more creative than a mere dent or two: a history of Cup abuse it's been a lot of places, including the bottom of Mario Lemeiux's pool and Patrick Wah's pool. Never happened where Hasek was concerned, however -- there was water involved, but it wasn't a pool. link Let the Duckies have their fun, done and over. Enough already. HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted June 19, 2007 This is being a bit overblown. The Wings have done it too. Nearly every team that's won has done some damage to the Cup. Everyone's just making a big deal out of it because it's the Ducks. Had the Sens won and the same happened no one would say a thing, and if anyone did it would be all laughs and no dissing. Some of you grow up already.

TEX-WING 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2007 If it doesn't get beat to crap during the summer then it would be a waist. Thats one of the best parts of winning the cup, any othe trophy gets stuck on a shelf the day after its won. The cup parties should be as hardcore as what the players have to do to get it. scotzman 29 Report post Posted June 19, 2007 By the way, maybe you missed it but ive asked you a couple times about whether or not you thought Jiri Fischer's crosscheck in the '02 Finals was classy. FireCaptain 563 Report post Posted June 19, 2007 Wow. Has the Red Wing Nation really sunk to this? Nitpicking over trivialities makes it look like so many sour grapes. For all anyone knows, the "keepers of the cup" dented it while taking it out o the protective shipping crate. It's a dent. Not the first, not the last. I'm quite sure that the HHOF has contingency plans for just such an event.

haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted June 19, 2007 I thought by now we could have some fun about the Ducks denting the Cup and make a few jokes, without it turning into a "They don't deserve the Cup" thread. I guess it's still too soon??

OsGOD 3 Report post Posted June 19, 2007 Not a new thing. I still remember in 97 two or three days after the Wings won it Shanahan was on the Tonight show with Leno and the base had a HUGE dent in it. So its not just the Ducks. We (well the Wings not myself), did it too. Ahoy, yep the base was dented... That was another way t' tell that the cup in the Hall O' fame they "claimed" was the actual one ste'ie lifted at the joe was in fact legit. It was a special tribute the Hho' had as the Win's war in town for a game... Me was lucky enough t' kiss that exact same cup. Ye'll ne'er get me buried booty! Redwngfan2002 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2007 For the people that cannot see the dent But I think its great. It gives it character, and is part of what makes it better than all other sports trophy's that sit untouched. The stories, dents, scratches. spelling errors, all give it what it is. Every dent / scratch is another great story in its history.
