Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted August 26, 2007 http://www.canada.com/topics/sports/hockey...76e&k=87774 Most of these guys look like their not going to be getting contracts anytime soon. Only one person, Bryan Berard, was offered anything but his was only a tryout, not an actual contract. Also hints at Markov returning to Russia, Lindros retiring, and some other stuff. Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted August 26, 2007 What do you guys think about Jason Allison? Hes had a pretty rough stretch the past few years with injuries, but when he plays, hes averaging almost a point a game, and he was also a physical player, also averaging about a minute a game. I know he had a neck injury which was pretty severe, and to be honest I have no idea whether or not hes healed, so does anyone have any info on this guy or have any opinions on him? theman19 47 Report post Posted August 27, 2007 Save the Cap room for the deadline. We can load up for the playoffs. i think that's what holland is doing right now, everyone in the league knows we need; more Grit, a top Four D man, and a top six forward. Dallas Drake is not a top six guy anymore so you've got to think either holland is waiting to see what happenes in training camp, or he's going to go with what we've got and load up at the deadline. theman19 47 Report post Posted August 27, 2007 how bout johnson now see mike Johnson can be a guy i see playing here. He's never been accused of being lazy, he plays every shift, but he's not a wonderfully talented Offensive player. That's what we and almost every other team in the NHL needs, a Guy who can score on the wing.

I know he had a neck injury which was pretty severe, and to be honest I have no idea whether or not hes healed, so does anyone have any info on this guy or have any opinions on him? He's horrible. Allison has become extinct in the new NHL, and I'd be very surprised to see any team desperate enough to land him. I'm OK with giving chance to him... another one I would like to see i training camp is Scatchard... Concussions have all but finished Scatchards career. I'd like to give him a shot, but I don't see him playing at all next year. What do you think about Ossi Vanannen... Vanannen wouldn't be bad, but he's not worth the money he's asking for right now. how bout johnson I would be very happy to see the Wings sign Johnson. It surprises me that he hasn't landed with any team yet, because he is a good player, and provides great scoring depth from the checking lines. Isn't O'Neil scared of going on planes? Yes, which is mainly the reason why he's played in the Eastern Conference his whole career. A name people are forgetting is Jeff Friesen. While he is coming off two very bad seasons, he did play very well for Anaheim in the 2006 playoffs, and has been a known playoff performer throughout his career. He'd be a great pickup for a cheap contract. I don't see any of that happening this offseason though, which may be for the better.
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted August 27, 2007 (edited) Here's a listing of teams and who still needs to add players, what positions/how many, and how much cap space those teams have. Numbers and rosters are from www.nhlnumbers.com, and any players who are expected to be on the roster but not included in their cap figure have been included in calculations. Numbers in parentheses are players needed at forward, defense, and goaltender, as based on number of players but not quality. I will list players as 'needed' up to a roster of 13/7/2, however if a team has an extra forward, defenseman, or goaltender listed as on the roster, he will be included in the cap figure. Teams with full rosters that are above the minimum payroll and beneath the cap are in bold. Phoenix (4/1/0) $20.502m* Nashville (0/0/0) $16.946m* Washington (2/2/0) $14.869m San Jose (2/1/0) $14.201m Columbus (0/0/0) $10.363m NY Islanders (0/0/0) $9.197m Pittsburgh (1/0/0) $9.122m Atlanta (2/1/0) $8.959m Florida (3/0/0) $7.681 Tampa Bay (0/2/0) $7.625m Colorado (1/1/0) $6.659m Los Angeles (2/0/0) $6.251m Anaheim (1/1/0) $6.204m Dallas (0/1/0) $5.619m St.Louis (1/1/0) $5.497m Buffalo (1/0/0) $5.169m Edmonton (2/0/0) $5.156m Montreal (1/0/0) $4.917m New Jersey (1/0/0) $4.908m Calgary (1/0/0) $4.545m Ottawa (2/0/0) $4.47m Carolina (0/0/0) $4.467m Minnesota (1/0/0) $3.848m Detroit (0/0/0) $3.657m Vancouver (1/0/0) $3.095m Boston (1/1/0) $2.736m Toronto (0/0/0) $1.774m Chicago (0/0/0) $1.718m Philadelphia (2/0/0) $1.33m NY Rangers (2/0/0) $1.309m *- Teams with more than 16m available are beneath the minimum payroll and need to add salary. Joe_Louis 1 Report post Posted August 27, 2007 "Going on planes" meaning fear of flying? Yes - that is the rumor, but I have no idea if this is true...If so he simply wouldn't fit since the Wings travel so much Hi all.. new to the boards.. great site you've got going here. It is true.. Jeff is terrified of flying. It is a well known fact in Toronto. It sounds funny, but I can't imagine how it must play on his mind during the season, flying all throughout the winter with storms and what not.
