Guest Jeremy88 Report post Posted January 5, 2008 Huselius is Swedish, so he'd fit in nicely, but Calgary won't trade him for 2 guys that combined don't have as many points as he does. Hmm, alright, Hudler for Huselais straight up...if calgary won't take that, throw in a draft pick or franzen. Huselias-Zetterberg-Holmstrom Filppula-Datsyuk-Cleary Maltby-Draper-Samuelsson Any combo of Downey, Drake, Kopecky, and Franzen (if we have him) Lidstrom-Rafalski Kronwall-Lilja Lebda-Chelios
Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted January 5, 2008 So my suggestion would be as follows. To Detroit: D Henrik Tallinder or D Brian Campbell C Tim Connolly or RW Jason Pominville To Buffalo: D Derek Meech D Andreas Lilja or D Brett Lebda C Evan McGrath or C Cory Emmerton Your proposals are ridiculously in our favor eva. A couple things: You are overrating Meech, Emmerton, and definitely McGrath. And the part about swapping in Ellis or Hartigan for our side and Gaustad for theirs? Do you realize that Ellis and Hartigan COMBINED would get laughed off if offered for Gaustad?
Earthhuman 8 Report post Posted January 5, 2008 Trade Samuelsson and Drake for Huselias. LOL! Calgary would be all over that!

tazzer82 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2008 Pens need help at wing too, so I'm not sure if they'd go for taking Rex for Malone. Sammy wouldn't be much help to them either I don't think, but who knows.
2probert4 8 Report post Posted January 5, 2008 Detroit gets : Ryan Malone and Brooks Orpik Pittsburgh gets : Jiri Hudler, Brett Lebda, Kyle Quincey The top 6 would be Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Holmstrom, Malone, Flip, and Cleary. Now realistically, Kirk Maltby isnt going anywhere. But this guy seriously has no purpose here anymore. If i were GM, he'd be gone. But no sense suggesting a trade since its 100% not going to happen. Malone = underachiever and Orpik is crap

Yzerfan1999 81 Report post Posted January 5, 2008 I'm noticing a trend here- trading the future for the now. Ok, here's my deals: Nothing. I keep my job, we still have a future, and we still go into the playoffs. At this point in the season, I don't see any problems with the team. Lilja is playing fine, and will be better in the playoffs. I have no idea where the supposed secondary scoring problem is. Maybe we'll see at the deadline. Also, I haven't seen trade deadline acquisitions put anybody over the top, or at least rarely. We all got to see Atlanta and Nashville trade the farm, only to be blown to pieces in the playoffs by teams that stuck with their teams and had chemistry. I second that. Trading Hudler at this point would be silly. Cleary Hudler and Flip are providing wonderful secondary scoring. And replying to the original posters trades - Pitt wont trade Malone, and other then that, you made us a slower, older team - just what you DONT want for the playoffs. eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted January 5, 2008 Your proposals are ridiculously in our favor eva. A couple things: You are overrating Meech, Emmerton, and definitely McGrath. And the part about swapping in Ellis or Hartigan for our side and Gaustad for theirs? Do you realize that Ellis and Hartigan COMBINED would get laughed off if offered for Gaustad? So you're saying the Sabres wouldn't deal Connolly/Campbell for Meech/Lebda/Emmerton if it looked like they weren't going to be able to keep either player at a reasonable salary? Campbell has already turned down 5m...which is probably more than he should be getting to begin with. Tallinder was put in because I think he is the most likely defenseman to be shopped in preparation for a Campbell contract. Buffalo's spending limits will likely preclude them from keeping both Connolly and Pominville without dealing off Thomas Vanek. Vanek is more likely to be shopped, but he wouldn't fit in the Wings' salary structure so I didn't include him. I think it's a realistic proposal given that the Sabres would be getting talented young players in return for UFAs who could very well be leaving at the end of the season. Talent-wise, yes it is skewed in our favor. But not as skewed as many deals involving pending UFAs that are executed every deadline. Buffalo will have Spacek, Lydman, and Campbell signed on D and will need to ship out Tallinder and cut loose Kalinin to fit their budget. Getting Lilja/Lebda and Meech allows them to have more defensive depth that can play at the NHL level. I wasn't suggesting that Hartigan or Ellis was worth Gaustad alone, but rather that the Sabres would require a youngish checking line center if Gaustad was part of the deal. It's not fair. Just realistic.

KDDRWINGS1 9 Report post Posted January 5, 2008 (edited) Kurt Maltby Kurt Maltby huh, never heard of him, is he Kirk Maltbys little brother? Just kidding my wife and I had the same discussion before. Sign Foppa if healthy Trade off Lilja, Sammy, and random prospect/pick for Foote and Federov, than force them to retire at end of season after we win cup as a Red Wing Trade off some defensive prospects for big, young, winger with lots of potential And while still in dreamland sign D-Mac to GR to replace Drake in a season or two Huds is one of the reasons we're still on top with injuries so I don't know why he'd be categorized with Lilja or Sammy even though he's a prick. Plus even though he does well here, I don't know if he'd do well on any other team. He'd probably have more trade value but I'd like him on a line with Feds. Then his skills pretty much disappeared and every time he comes to town we boo him because he was greedy? ringing any bells? On a lighter note though, he was one hell of a player when he was here lol

YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted January 6, 2008 Malone = underachiever and Orpik is crap Amen Bro. Those of you with the hard ons for Malone and Orpik need to take a second and wonder why it is the Pens have been trying to trade Malone for 2 years plus, and also why Orpik has been a healthy scratch for a lot of games this season. These guys might be nice additions, but at the expense of guys like Lebda and Hudler? Youre all cracked out... Also, you guys need to check who youre trading. Drake? Lilja? none of those guys have any pull. Adam Foote for Kyle Quincey and a 2nd round pick Mike Comrie, 4th rounder for Mikael Samuelsson, a 1st round pick, Derek Meech Kopecky for Chris Gratton Flip - Datsyuk - Cleary Hudler - Hank - Homer Franzen - Comrie - Gratton Maltby - Drapes - Drake Downey Lidstrom - Kronner Raffi - Foote Lebda - Cheli Lilja

I know it's out of fantasy land. Or NHL08 land, which is why I thought of it . Belak is far from useless, hits hard, good guy for the team. One of, if not the funniest guy in the NHL, we could use his character in the room. (I miss the days when we had funny guys on the team). Besides, not like Ellis serves a huge purpose, he'd get more of a shot in TO.
