DenJ91 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2008 i don't think in mario's last 5 years he was deking anyone out of their skates, so my point still stays justified sorry. yes he was big, but so is chara, i saw avery taking runs at chara as funny as that sounds. bottom line is, players just didn't go after lemieux, there seemed to be some unspoken rule about it. gretzky too for that matter, he was so small, no one wanted to be the guy who ended the "great one's" career due to laying him out on his ass for good. and i'm very sorry to say this but i really think gretzky and mario were completely overrated due to their legacy all the way till they retired and the special treatment allowed offensive pts to still be produced. anyway, go back to making your lists, i don't want this to go too far off topic. FinRedWing 172 Report post Posted February 4, 2008 (edited) 1. Pronger ( :puke: ) 2. Scott Niedermayer ( ) 3. The Sedins ( :flamingmad: ) 4. Used to be Cajanek, nowadays Mayers ( ) 5. Mats Sundin ( ) Needless to say that Foppa will fight with Pronger for the #1 spot when he comes back, dropping Sundin off the list. 1) Pronger 2) S. Niedermayer 3) Tootoo 4) Jackman 5) Iginla Honorable mention: Perry, Crosby Sid gets only an honorable mention? Come on,Edi. I've rarely seen you complain about Iginla these days, same can't be said about Crosby though. Edited February 4, 2008 by FinRedWing
Jwo 7 Report post Posted February 4, 2008 1. Pronger (The hatred started back when he joined the Blues.) 2. Peter Forsberg (Diver.) 3. Tutu aka Jordin Tootoo (Cheapshot artist who thinks he does nothing wrong and that none of the rules apply to him.) 4. Kiprusoff (It frustrates me because of watching how he does not play like a super goalie on HNIC. But when he plays the Wings, he plays like a 5 star super goalie.) 5. Corry Perry (This guy is dbag and that is all.)

I strongly disagree though about Gretz and Lemeiux being overrated. Yzerman benefitted from that same "special treatment" when we had Probert, Kocur, Gallant, Norwood, Snepsts and many others in the lineup. If anyone went after Stevie, there was always at least one guy on the Wings they'd have to immediately answer to. And if Probert or Kocur weren't on the ice, that player would be answering to them later.
DenJ91 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2008 let me state very clearly, i'm not saying gretzky and mario were overrated throughout their career's, i'm saying they were towards the end even while putting up ok numbers, they were hailed as the games best, and flat out were not. that's what i'm saying. of course they are great, legends!! Inultus 12 Report post Posted February 4, 2008 1. Pronger 2. Avery 3. Tootoo 4. Tucker 5. The Flyers I figured Pronger would top our list, glad to see I was right. I'm surprised there aren't more votes for Avery, he's probably the biggest prick in the league. I bet if we played the Rangers more there would be a lot more votes for him. Guest GordieSid&Ted Report post Posted February 4, 2008 i'm sorry i can't just go top 5 1. steve downie (dangerous player) 2. todd bertuzzi ((we all know what he did) 3. derrian hatcher (isn't good enough to be in this league anymore) 4. chris simon (another dangerous player, no talent) 5. sean avery (all around ahole) 6. bryce salvador (for breaking fedorov's nose years ago) 7. keith ballard (for giving fedorov a concussion 2 weeks ago) 8. jordan tootoo (if he wasn't a cheap player he wouldn't be in the league, little talent) 9. chris pronger (takes really nasty runs at people intending to hurt someone, ex: homer) 10. jarkko ruutu (nothing but dirty all the time and he honestly looks like he wants to kill someone) if the list was top 50, almost the whole flyers team would make it. yes i'm from philly. all time would probably be something like: 1. claude lemieux (no need to explain) 2. john leclair (should give all his money to eric lindros and michael renberg) 3. todd bertuzzi 4. jean sebastian giguere (anyone else think if they were as big and covered as much net as he does and use the size equipment he "did", they'd be a pretty good goalie too?, ok maybe not but still, the guy is overrated imo) 5. mario lemieux (i really feel he was given special treatment as far as physical contact went. watch games again, players rarely hit him, i'm sure i'm opening up a can here, but it's true) Some of your selections seem based on things done to Fedorov. I guess that's legit so far as you can hate anybody you choose to hate. Although hating Mayers and Ballard for that alone seems unreasonable. Mayers can be a prick at times but he's not even the biggest prick in the Blues lineup and Ballard isn't a dirty player either. I would actually love to have both of those guys on the Wings. Mayers especially, sucker is tough as nails.
dirac 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2008 Current Players Only : 1. Pronger <-- Cannot stress enough what a punk he is. 2. Avery <-- Just annoys me. 3. Jagr <-- So much talent, so little heart - Stevie played while crippled, Jagr is a waste. 4. Pronger <-- Seriously...on top of all the cheap shots he is stupid...read is interviews. 5. The Ducks <-- Any player that joins this team (or any other team) after 12/1 allowing them to get around the cap; "I am retired until you can afford me." DenJ91 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2008 i said salvador not mayers. and i'm only half kidding about hating those two that have to do with fedorov. i just don't like players who hurt fedorov even if unintentionally, it's a grudge. i really don't hate keith ballard, he just happened to hit fedorov up high that's all. the others on the list though i def do hate

55fan 5,133 Report post Posted February 4, 2008 I agree with what Earthhuman had to say about Sid. If the NHL need something, it's marketing. Sid's got the talent and the looks and he's not an ass. How many kids would be letting this go to their heads? He understands his role as a salesman, and if that means he has to do a lot of photoshoots, then so be it. We could do a lot worse. 12Newf 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2008 (edited) DenJ91 you also need to consider the fact that part of the reason the best players such as gretzky and lemieux dont get hit is because they dont put themseleves in vulnerable positions. i have heard countless times from players that they found it almost impossible to hit gretzky because he was too fast and slick. these guys are pros and if they could have they would have run gretzky or lemieux over. if they wont do what it takes to win within the rules then i have no respect for them. how often do you see daniel alfredsson (who i hate with every fiber of my being) get more than a bump? or lidstrom? they are too intelligent and even though everyone is trying to hit them, they simply cant catch them. OsGOD 3 Report post Posted February 4, 2008 (edited) I always thought Gretzky was easy to pick off if they so wanted... cherry picking at the blue and all... but hey thats just my opinons of the "great" one. No one really wanted to touch him becuase he let out a blood curtling scream... "STOP HITTING ME!!!" in the tune of "STOP RUNNING UP THE SCORE DAMMIT! YOU ALREADY HAVE 4 GOALS!!!" If you asked me what my top five least favorite sushi rolls were, #5 would be Marc Crawford. I hate him so much that I won't ever allow him to crack the top 4 on any list I produce, yet he will always ride the bottom when the word "hate" is in the title.)
