miller76 463 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 When I initially saw the hit, I knew it would be 2 minutes. I could see Kronwall just getting in the box and looking up at how much time he was getting or maybe just a replay of it. I was thinking he could have got 4 minutes max for it. I cant imagine the league taking further action, but you never know!
Must Kill 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 I could honestly see the league suspending him for one game. If its anymore than that would be bulls***
12Newf 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 no way in hell, he definitely deserved a penalty but thats it.
Guest Crymson Report post Posted April 11, 2008 Did the hit cause injury? No. If a hit causes injury, it bring a suspension. It didn't, so it won't. We wouldn't have been calling for a suspension on Pronger after last year's hit on Holmstrom had Homer simply gotten up and skated after the puck afterwards. Creasemonkey 30 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 If Kronwall gets suspended for that hit, it will show even clearer than Pronger's 8 game pre-playoff vacation that the league office is unfair and biased in the way they hand out discipline. No harm, no foul. If Pronger had gotten the 5 he deserved last season (twice), I'd say Kronwall might deserve one or two. He didn't need to jump. But he got a penalty on the play, fair justice is fair justice.
Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 Reguardless of whether or not it was with elbow, the NHL is cracking down on hits to the head. I am not arguing for a suspension, I am just saying it is a possiblity it may happen.
Shaman 713 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 Well seeing as no one from the league has announced it would be reviewed, therefore, it seems they dont believe its a dirty hit.

I am not arguing for a suspension, I am just saying it is a possiblity it may happen. No, it won't. I think you need to go to sleep. There was no malice involved in that play, just bad timing. If the NHL followed that logic, there would be 1-3 suspensions per game, every night. It was a good, hard, hit; timing was off, though. No intent to injure/maim/kill. End of story. interminded 1 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 I didn't see the hit, but Kronner isn't a dirty player by any means. I'm sure it was accidental that his elbow even made contact with the Preds player. You don't have to be a dirty player to deliver a dirty hit once in a while.. That said, I didn't think Kronner's hit was intentionally dirty... unlucky, heat-of-the-moment kinda thing. Cicada 4 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 Sportsnet has the hit on it's highlight package fyi, NHl.com and TSN don't...
Nero 20 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 (edited) Yes, he should receive a suspension.. only if the Predator that charged to deliver a hit on Draper earlier in the game does too. The one that happened right before Rafalski got called for cross-checking. Edited April 11, 2008 by Nero
#19forPresident! 1 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 I was at the game and the hit looked pretty intense, but it happened so fast I didn't get nearly as good of a look at it as people at home who got to see the replay, anyone DVR the came that can upload the hit to youtube? jellytoast 1 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 Cornhole should be benched for that stupid crap though
SweWings 45 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 One game? Maybe, possibly, but it won't happen... But now for the more interesting question: do we want Kronner to do this on a regular basis?
Shaman 713 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 As I said, had it been a dirty hit the league would have said SOMETHING about it by now, either that it was under review or that detroit would be consulted, its pretty cut and dry, remember pronger last year? after that hit you pretty much had a press release waiting for the end of the game saying that it would be looked into. 12Newf 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 im happy we have someone throwing the body around and if we have to take a few penalties thats fine with me too. it looked like a flying elbow to me which no doubt deserved 2 minutes but thats it. kunitz was doing his standard boarding/elbowing all night against dallas and each of his hits seemed as bad or worse than kronners. Hank 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 Okay, we all saw that hit. If you are anything like me I immediately thought, the league is going to look at that. I know if it was Pronger against anyone doing that I would be calling for the death penalty. In fact for hits to the head last year Pronger with a dirty record got one playoff game suspensions. Will 55 get the same? He clearly left his feet and met the Predators player in the head with an elbow. I don't think either was intentional but it happened and I think we need to be ready for punishment. If he gets more then a game I am calling up Simon and we are going to go kidnap Betman and Pronger and get some Mob justice, it will be easy as they prob share a bed. Thoughts? Good topic. I'd have to look at the replay again but I don't think Kronwalls elbow hit his head. It looked shoulder on shoulder/head. He left his feet so he deserved a penalty. He might even deserve a suspension for it. But you're right, if this was Pronger or Downie he'd be gone for at least one game.
Opie 308 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 Will he probably not, should he no (but I am a wings fan what else should I say), if he does no skin off of my back. The problem is, the league will look at it (probably already have) and they decide if he had intention to hurt or not. Even if he does get suspended that was a great thing to see, he laid him out and what impresses me more is that he really did it without worrying about hurting himself, which to me is very important and shows that his collarbone is absolutely fine!!! And to the poster who said he should be benched, I hope you were kidding. This team needs to show that not only will they not be pushed around but that they push you back, or push you first. If he does get suspended I still say it was well worth it.

Having Kronner toss his body around will do that.

I thought he hit him with his shoulder and it was just the follow through that looked bad. I actually didn't watch the play enough to know if he left his feet either. But it did look to me at first glance that he left his feet. I don't think its worthy of suspension.
Spinner 6 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 No he shouldn't be suspended, it wasn't with intent to injure. He, first hit him with his forearm, then simply followed through with his elbow like any good defenseman would do. I saw worse hits in the game that weren't even called, nor should they have been. It's the playoffs, call the dirty hits, but let them play hockey too. Kronner got the 2 minutes he deserved, no more , no less.
kozac 10 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 (edited) If Alex Ovechkin threw that same hit, which he usually does, they wouldn't even call it a penalty and the hit would be on every highlight real for the night as another great, clean hit by AO. Double standards in the NHL? Whats that? This is playoffs, let them play already, I swear the game felt like a meaningless regular season snoozer last night.
