Nev 1,085 Report post Posted February 17, 2009 In his column last week John Buccigross came up with a Mount Rushmore selection for each NHL team. His picks for Detroit? Steve Yzerman Gordie Howe Nick Lidstrom Terry Sawchuk Now the 1st 3 are no-brainers, the only debatable one is the 4th. Sawchuck over Delvechio, Lindsay, Fedorov, Shanahan, Kuznetzov etc. Choose your four.

Sawchuck over Delvechio, Lindsay, Fedorov, Shanahan, Kuznetzov etc. Choose your four. That one is sorta a no duh. Yours pretty much nails it. Best captain of all time (Yzerman) One of the top 5, arguably the best player of all time (Howe) Another one that makes a case for top 5, as well as a decent case for best d-man of all time (and certainly no worse than 3rd -- Lidstrom) And one of the top 5 goalies of all time. (Sawchuck)

Chunkylover 26 Report post Posted February 17, 2009 Bowman - The modern team's George Washington, the general who taught them how to win. Yzerman - The definition of loyalty, dedication, and self-sacrifice all Lincoln-esque traits. Holland - Like Jefferson on the actual monument, the mastermind behind the success of the others. Howe - The league standard for a long time, and like TR, a " Rough Rider".
Yzersyukstromberg 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2009 Jeez man, this one is easy... 1) Jeff Sharples 2) Tony McKegney 3) Johan Garpenlov 4) John Chabot 5) Borje Salming 6) Mark Habscheid 7) Wes Walz 8) Bob Essensa 9) Yan Golubovsky 10) Torrie Robertson I know there's alot, but they're such a formidable group, we'll just have to use both sides of the mountain to make it happen. betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted February 17, 2009 I see Uwe Krupp is getting the shaft again. Anyway, my four, in no particular order: James E. Norris Gordie Howe Steve Yzerman Jack Adams I mean, you have to include the builders and founders. If it's just the players, though, Bucci's four is basically a no-brainer list.
