Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted February 22, 2009 Well, that happened. Didn't think the Wings were really that bad all things considered, but they didn't nail their chances and got burned on a couple awesome individual efforts by Bouchard and Koivu. 55fan 5,133 Report post Posted February 22, 2009 OK, Now I've officially given up. Night, all. At least we'll be well rested for the Sharks. This is the kind of game that builds character and instills a hunger to prove oneself, right?
Mike 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2009 P.S. that was the most brutal last minute of a game I have EVER seen! The puck should have been buried about 3 times.
PenaltyShot 96 521 Report post Posted February 22, 2009 (edited) Adding insult to injury. That flurry around the Wild net reminded me of the scene from Happy Gilmore when he's screaming at the golfball to get in the hole. "Why don't you just go home?! That's your HOME! Are you too good for your home?" Nice of the Wings to give Jimmy some love anyway. Edited February 22, 2009 by PenaltyShot

vladdy16 2,154 Report post Posted February 22, 2009 Absolutely freakin' INCREDIBLE hockey by Minnesota the last minute of play. They wanted it and they wanted it bad, and it showed. I'm going to pretend this game never happened. I'd like to see Howard shake this off. Bad, bad game by the Wings all the way around.
This Is Bida 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2009 I said I liked the goals. Way to conveniently leave that part out. I'm just saying that he should not be paired with Hossa. He obviously didn't read but a single PART of the conversation that we had in which EVERY ONE said that Franzen's a good player, but he is NOT the right center for Hossa! Some people just jump to conclusions at the worst times like idiots
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted February 22, 2009 Can just hope Holland said to himself during the game "Man, Backstrom and Nolan would look really good in Red White..."

Duck Guy 86 Report post Posted February 22, 2009 (edited) ummm.... wings won last night 5-2 ... now lost 5-2 and the ducks lost 5-2 last night and won tonight 5-2 .... coincidence? I THINK NOT Edited February 22, 2009 by Duck Guy
Mike 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2009 (edited) I think the jury still has to be out on Jimmy. He let in a couple of weak ones, but the D gave him absolutely zero help tonight. Start Conks against the Sharks and then start Jimmy against the Kings. If he plays the same against the Kings then send him back down and forget about him. dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted February 22, 2009 How the puck did not find the back of the net in that last minute I will never know.. but I guess that was the story of the game for us.. even when we did good things (rarely), the puck would not bounce our way. I feel exhausted from watching this game. God I hope we don't have to meet Minnesota in the playoffs. Most boring team in the league, and a horrible fit for us. Not going to say much else about the game.. let's just forget it and look forward to a better effort against San Jose.

Shaman 713 Report post Posted February 22, 2009 Obviously management made a bad decision calling up Howard and not playing Ozzy. Oh well, Howard's not NHL material... Couldn't agree more, we need to trade him while he still might have some value, cause next year he really won't make it as a solid back up, and we cant have Ozzy playing 60+ games a year... Carman 387 Report post Posted February 22, 2009 (edited) IS it safe to say Howard sucks?? It's safe to say you aren't a budding and brilliant poster with a extraordinary arsenal of hockey intelligence. That said, obviously he isn't impressive, but you have to give people chances, especially with how Osgood has played. You don't know what you have unless you use it. j.hoop 64 Report post Posted February 22, 2009 man that was a boring game. blocked shots galore, clogged middle galore, no passion at all. howard got hung out to dry, but i think he couldve better attempted the breakaway goal, that broke the camels back. OH WELL, time to focus on wednesday, which is way more important.

MTU_Huskies963 398 Report post Posted February 22, 2009 It might be time to start playing Conks like he is the #1. I am getting sick of this juggling the goal tender crap. Conks should have started tonight.
Yzerman191 37 Report post Posted February 22, 2009 Terrible game by the 'Wings, and a terrific game by the Wild. If they can finish off their season playing like that every night then they're a lock for the playoffs. I think it's a little hasty to say Howard isn't NHL material. He has yet to have a great game, but tonight shouldn't be the nail in the coffin. His team played terrible in front of him, and the other team just played with too much desire. Flip and Datsyuk also had a pretty rough game. Leino, on the other hand, played great. He's a keeper for sure.
TheOwl 77 Report post Posted February 22, 2009 He's not proving otherwise and he's had lots of chances. He's not had that many chances. This was a bad game to play him. The Wild rarely let in more then 2-3 goals, big pressure to not let any in. Should of played him against LA next week, where he could let in 4 or 5 and the team would still win. Either way, Osgood wouldn't of performed any better. It's Conklin or nothing boys.
commadore183 103 Report post Posted February 22, 2009 I think that once Howard plays with a solid D behind him, THEN we can say definitively that he isn't an NHL goalie. The D just left him out to dry in this game, so it isn't fair to judge him based on this game. Just sucks that he didn't have the support tonight.
