Dude, Toskala is out for the season. Gerber will be the starter.

Why the Leafs don't bring up Justin Pogge to play in half their remaining games is strange. Somewhere in Burke's mind he must think this team has a shot at a playoff spot. Like media has stated numerous times, it's year #3 for Pogge, yet the Leafs play him a game here, a game there. And they wonder why they are a laughingstock.

Burke probably does not want to throw him under the bus and put a lot of media scrutiny on him in the final eight weeks of the season. Expect Toskala-Pogge next year, probably in tandem.

Don't quote me on that, though. :P

I have to agree, the Wings are still the team to beat. Boy, Cal-GARY just made themselves a pain to play against. It's going to be an awesome stanley cup playoffs this year. Can't wait.
Calgary will cheapshot their way into the playoffs. And then ... disappear. All that physical play doesn't add up to wins, as far as i'm concerned.

Scoring? Goaltending? Not much to fear there.

*edit* Oh, and I actually don't dislike the Flames.

The Flames are a vastly different team this year than the team that had cheap shot, crash-the-goalie artists like Ville Nieminen that ran through Joseph when he was a Wing. They are hard nosed, very skilled, and probably one of the most difficult teams to put away in the last minute of a game in a legitimate way.

Look at their roster LAST year. Now this year. I'm having trouble getting together with you on this. I just do not see what the HUGE difference is. Two very decent lines, and two average lines.

A Sutter team is hell to play against. But to me Detroit is as strong or stronger than last year, and defending Cup champs who don't bulls*** around when the games count. Calgary still needs to prove Kipper can get back AND STAY at the level he was a few seasons ago.

If anything, you'd think this might be the year SJ actually gets to the next level. They haven't even been to the Finals yet. And no telling if they'll be the better team if they get there.

Wings beat the Flames twice this year (5-2 and a 4-3 OT win) and have them twice this month -- should be interesting games to catch.

The Kolzig trade was a salary dump. Burke took on $500k in salary in exchange for a 4th round pick.

Yeah, I was a little puzzled when I heard Burke talking on NHL Network a little while ago. They asked him about Kolzig and he said something like "well, that was a special kind of trade, something that I'm not going to talk about right now".

Is that all there is to it?

The Rangers moving everyone and their mom for Morris is definitely your Hilarious Deal of the Day.

Kalinin is having a terrible season, and hasn't been any good in almost three years, so he wasn't really all that much of a loss. But Prucha and Dawes? All the more proof that Slats need to be canned. He is destroying any future that the Rags once had.

Can someone PLEASE explain to me the logic behind the Kings trade?!? Like, I'm seriously in complete awe. Has Lombardi lost his mind? He gives up one of his few reliable scoring forwards in O'Sullivan for a guy with 3 goals on the season and is a -10 in Williams. Why? It makes zero sense.

This is why the Kings are destined for the bottom of the standings year after year, because of RETARDED MANAGEMENT!

Toskala is out for the season. Gerber will be the starter. Kolzig - the water boy.

Why the Leafs don't bring up Justin Pogge to play in half their remaining games is strange. Somewhere in Burke's mind he must think this team has a shot at a playoff spot. Like hockey heads have wondered numerous times, when are the Leafs going to give him a chance, good or bad, to see exactly where he's at. No, instead the Leafs play him a game here, a game there. And they wonder why their team is the butt of so many jokes.

First, Pogge hasn't earned squat....he's been average at very best in the AHL. Maybe it's a little shot across the bow at him that he's not going to have a job in the NHL handed to him. Adam Munro, who backs up Pogge with the Marlies has been better than Pogge this year.

CuJo's done....so Gerber's just a place holder while CuJo's rests between starts on his farewell tour.
