Osgood says he is ready to lead the team in the playoffs

I'm having visions of another one of "those" threads ...

I'll just say hopefully Ozzie is right, and his positivity translates into some better performances on the ice.

*fingers crossed*

You've proved the haters wrong before, Ozzie. Please let this be another time. We know the good goalie is in there, but who knows. Maybe this is Ozzie's year to play Hasek, and Conklin to play Ozzie.

Just like his team, Osgood is a proven winner. There's no reason to think he won't be again.

its good to hear this from someone other than a wings fan.

I hope ozzie's right and i have faith in him to be able to be solid in the playoffs.

Id rather have him like that then like Manny was a few seasons back 'why me why me why me????'..... Confidence is what a goalie needs...

I've never doubted him. I doubt the defense more than Osgood. They'll make or break this Cup run.

He had a rough start and the defense has been awful and just gotten worse. Conklin looked better when Osgood was WAY under par, but since Osgood finding his game a bit, he's been the better goalie and he'll get better when it matters most. The best and only reasonable decision is to go with Osgood.

What other active goalies besides Brodeur have more Cups than him? Or playoff wins?

Underrated. Quote me on it in June.

Look, performance aside, Ozzie has been messed up thsi season. You can see it in his face, his demeanor. He has had no confidence and has looked near suicidal all year. I hope he's ready. He certainly has the talent, but it doesn't seem as if his mind is the same place it was last year, where nothing could touch him mentally.

I have faith, Ozzie!

Ozzie is always cracking up and chatting on the bench when he isn't playing... he is having a good time. I am not sure i agree with the looking suicidal at time.

Ozzie sucks and has never won anything in his life. He should be released and the Wings should sign one of those three satanic kids from Dogma to be goalie.

How do you keep posting hyperbole posts in every thread yet still make it funny?!?! We're on number 3,454 from you in the past week yet it's STILL FRESH!

Ozzie has said things like this multiple times this season. I hope he backs it up finally, but I doubt he does.

I'm glad to hear Ozzie didn't say

Well, I've really been one of the worst NHL goalies this year. I'm on the steep decline in my NHL playing days and have historically always been a streaky goaltender. I'm hoping I do alright, at least 4 goals against per game and we should be set.

Hellloooooooo, of course he's going to say he's ready. Do I feel better about it? No.

Really, how valuable is the Presidents' Trophy to a team that has won it three straight seasons?

How can I take this article seriously when in the 1st paragraph they write this?

Good. Got to have confidence in himself despite him playing subpar this year, knowing he can help the team out. Better than I want to hang myself Legace, who unfortuatnely let's his pride affect his play way too much and is way too hard on himself.

We've all seen Osgood do his part to get-r-done and help this team win a championship. He's won 2 as a starter/main guy. Who knows whether that'll happen again this year, but I have confidence in him to turn it around still and at the very least help this team to a deep playoff run.

Call me an eternal optimist, blind homer, whatever, I don't care. I don't like being a pessimistic negative nance and I'm confident he'll turn it around based on what he's done in the recent past. That just doesn't go away all of a sudden by itself.

Osgood and Brodeur have the same amount of Cups. 3. Roy had 4, Fuhr had 5.

No need to wait till June for an assessment, btw, should have it ready for ya by the end of April.

Maybe the fans need to chant "Ozzie, Ozzie, Ozzie" at the beginning of the games to show him our support and give him more confidence. I think that would spark up the defence too. So those of you with tix to the playoffs...you have your mission.

Seriously tho, I hope he's ready, I would like to see him win another cup and maybe lock a spot in the HOF

I know you're kidding with the chants and more support for Chris. Ozzie's gotten plenty of that this season, and he doesn't seem to be particularly annoyed with his own play, so I am not sure more praise is what is needed.

If Ozzie and the team show up, no one can beat them. No one. It's entirely up to the team at this point. Neither goalie has a chance if the defense doesn't step up. People keep saying it's the "same team" out there as last season, but there is clearly not the same chemistry and emotion. The X-factor is missing, and it will probably be the difference.

I still believe the Wings can do this. I just don't know that they will.

Well, now that Osgood has said he is ready to lead the team in the play offs I really do feel much better. Why esle would he say that? He says he feels great out there and he is going in the right direction going into the play offs. Who needs on-ice performances to backup your words? Playing good hockey is so over-rated anyway, talking about playing good hockey is really where its at! Atta boy Ozzie keep up the great work.... because your good enough, and smart enough and dog gone it people like you!
