Well, that didn't take long...

Infer what you will from my topic header.

Just the facts, ma'am:

During a stopage in play, Sean Avery "innocently" skates by Tim Thomas and "accidentally" hit him in the back of the head with his stick.

Mayhem ensues.

Here's the vid.

Ya know what...

Between this, the sloppy seconds comment and the Brodeur screen, I think Avery is purposely doing things to piss off the opposition. Instigate if you will.

This is great!

I love how Thomas waits until he sees the name on the back of the jersey, then takes off after Avery!! haha

I love Thomas!

Avery's a moron - it's truly nothing new. He'll never change and he certainly won't learn his lesson. I'm forever grateful he's not in a wings uni anymore!!

I couldn't have said that better.

Avery is an embarrassment to the NHL and needs to be kicked out of the NHL for good. He is doing these kinds of stupid things all the time. He is nothing but an instigator.

I like Tim Thomas' reaction.

"I actually like the way he plays around the net. He's tenacious. He gets in right around the crease but he's not actually doing anything illegal," Thomas said, "but there's lines that you can cross and he seems to have a hard time figuring out what those lines are."

Nicely said.

Booo to the officials for using the replay to give him a penalty! What now? Are we going be using the scoreboard and replays for ALL non-calls!?!?! Hey lets give the coachs a red towel and they can throw it on the ice when they want a review! The reviews are for the league! I am sure Avery would've gotten a fine or something after THE NHL reviewed the play, NOT while the refs are watching the scoreboard!!! Those penalty minutes should be subtracted from his total!!! Hey, we ALL loved Bob Probert and his not-so-innoent hits and runs at goalies (Reindeau and Bester come to mind) and this is no different, except that he played it way too innocent while skating up behind him, looking around the rink in the air like, "Wow, I've never seen something this big before!" Other than that, good on him!!

I agree with you here!! But, I think the reason they did this was because it was during a TV timeout! If not for that then I'm not sure if the refs would have used re-play!! But who the hell knows, it is the "New NHL"

Meh, I've seen Maltby pull that kind of stuff on people as recently as this season. Not necessarily as blatantly as that, but it happens. I think everyone is just upset because it's Avery. Yeah he may not have learned his lesson, but he does a good job irritating the other team. And yeah, that call from watching the replay is bogus. Boo on the officials for that.

I'm actually wondering there's a suspension being considered for that. I mean, he DID deliberately strike an opposition player in the head with his stick. However, since there was no injurious intent, I wouldn't see a suspension being justified.

In any case, Avery's an ass. But he's fun to watch.
