Hitchcock says Wings' wingers cheat on face-offs

Did anybody hear the interview with Hitchcock on the radio? He claimed that the Blue Jackets scored two goals on themselves so it was really a tie game.

Yeah. I'm not even kidding. He said that.

From today's Columbus Dispatch:

"We put two in our own net," Blue Jackets coach Ken Hitchcock said.

Now, it's finger pointing about "cheating" on face offs. It only took one game and he's already working the "laundry list of excuses".

You beat me to it. :P

One lousy game and he's complaining. Cripes, it's almost as bad as Burke in Vancouver back in '02. Maybe the same advice should be given him:

SHUT UP

LOSE

GO HOME

By the way, Hitch, if you're looking for sympathy I suggest a dictionary.

Ok, I'm gonna blow off some steam here!!

I am so sick and tired of all of these "coaches" "Players" "media members" ripping us and stating that we cheat!! When will we get credit for the thing we do!! Hey HitchCOCK, if your team would have stepped up on the PP when you got 4 straight to start the game then maybe just maybe you wouldn't be running you big pie hole!!!

This kind of s$%^ pissed me off to no end, like someone else said, the NHL should fine him for using the media as an outlet!!

Oh yeah Hitch, Its not cheating if you don't get caught, but since you havent been in the playoffs in almost 10 years I can understand that you may forget a few things!!!

When Detroit lost to Edmonton, guess who was playing the trap...

When they lost to Anaheim, guess how unfair the penalties were...

This isn't something whiny coaches do; this is something hockey players and hockey fans do when they see their team slipping out of the playoffs. Give them a break.

Ok I've watched it over and over again and I'm not sure what he's talking about in regards to the power play goal "that winger went in on the move."

I too have watched it a few times and all i see is Kopecky kind of jumps half second too soon but his feet do NOT move from the line at all until after the puck dropped

I love how hitchcock is taking everything away from the wings. "The Wings cheat. We put the put in our own net". Jesus fuc*king christ, give credit where credit is due. You had a TOTAL of like eight shots in the final two periods. You lost because you were outplayed, not because of so called cheating. I like the fact, though, that he is more concerned with the wings cheating than focusing on his own teams medicore play.

wow thats almost something a kid would say on how someone was cheating. grow up dude just because their losing to one of the best teams in the league doesnt mean he has to cry about it. i'd like to see him get out there and try and play against the wings.

I think that's Franzen, not Kopecky. Hank is at the dot and Hudler is on the other wing; Franzen received the second assist on the play, although I don't know if he should have as he passed it to Kronwall, who then passed to Samuelsson, then received the puck back from Sammy.

Hitch's just stirring the pot, "playing the game between the games."

I kinda see it that way too. from being in Columbus and listening to the guy, I kinda wonder if he means "cheating" like he wishes his guys were doing it that way too.

Sure as hell if the CBJ got away with it he wouldn't be complaining.

Hitch has been too consistent a coach to get completely crazy after one playoff game with Columbus. this isn't Bob Hartley here or Michele Therrien.
