Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted May 23, 2009 Try putting him on the 3rd of 4th for the start of the next game- just to get the message across to him. But in the end all he can do is hope that Hossa fights hard in the games where elimination or slipping behind in games won is on the line. Hossa came through in a pivotal game 4 against the Ducks, we can only hope he does it on Sunday.

Guest Shoreline Report post Posted May 23, 2009 (edited) Babcock needs to let Hossa be Hossa. He's getting paid $7.5 million dollars, and scored 40 goals during the season. His playoffs have sucked thusfar and so far his future is probably in jeopardy (for those who actually viewed him as more than a rental), but people drive me absolutely ******* mad how fast they jump on and off a ******* player's bandwagon. Relax, people. If the Wings win or not his performance will be evaluated. There's still a series and a half left if the Wings even win this one. Take a chill pill. He should do whatever he feels comfortable doing with Hossa. For all we know Hossa could be injured. Just keep plugging him in wherever Babs feels he will contribute most, and let him be who he is. RockyMountainWingGal 108 Report post Posted May 23, 2009 Cause 2 points tonight didnt help 2 points is vast improvement over his last sev games, yes. I am very disappointed Hossa hasn't scored more clutch goals, because after all that is his job - he's a goal scorer. But on the other hand, he's not doing anything to hurt the Wings chances either. I'm not ready to give up on him just yet. "Benching" him or 4th lining him will pretty much be the end of Hossa for the season - not a good idea..... glad some of these posters aren't the coach. Bluedevils_13 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2009 To send a message to Hossa... Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Cleary Samuelsson-Franzen-Holmstrom Hudler-Filppula-Hossa Draper-Helm-Maltby
TheOwl 77 Report post Posted May 23, 2009 ^ I don't know about that 2nd line their. Homer is near useless 5 on 5, Franzen kind of hovers and waits for things to happen quiet a bit, and Sammy just shoots. They need a set up guy like Flipulla to get Sammy and Mule the puck. Maybe Hossa-Leino-Helm might be interesting. The message needs to be sent to Hossa not to shoot the puck immediately , or at least make a move with it before shooting. hankzet40 233 Report post Posted May 23, 2009 And Hossa has the much better skillset and tools to work with. We're asking a sniper to score goals. I hope it wouldn't be too much to ask a cow to give me some ******* milk. And just to clarify, I wouldn't be so pissed at Hossa if he'd signed here without any expectations. But the guy made a big huff out of signing with the Wings to win the cup. He signed with this team for the post-season. He himself set the expectations, and hes failing miserably at meeting them. Once again you echo my thoughts. It'd be one thing if we had him all along, but we have people like Helm who are making a bigger impact and showing more hunger. You come here and say you want to win a Cup, well ******* show it. You saw they could do it without you.
gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted May 23, 2009 I think there's a lot more going on with Datsyuk and Hossa than we know. I'm betting on injuries. And hell, Hossa has taken more than a few rough, rough hits where he's immediately had to hobble off the ice. There were a couple hits last series that I was shocked he got up from at all. If we win this series, doing it in 5 would be great. We could use a break before the finals like nobody's business...
RedWings 79 Report post Posted May 23, 2009 (edited) I think Hossa's game is not suited for the playoffs As soon as he gets the puck he shoots... You need to crash the net in the playoffs to score goals. Really disappointed about Zetterberg performance either. A big step back from game 1 and 2. At this point I am wondering if Pitt offense in the finals won't be too big. Without our big guys, we won't get 10 goals from Cleary and Samuelsson to match Crosby & Malkin Edited May 23, 2009 by RedWings
