Rivalred 630 Report post Posted May 25, 2009 Havlat should not have been on the ice - even Wednesday would have been too soon. I know they are trying to reach the finals but the guys career could have been ended tonight if Stu had gotten a better piece of him. I hope Kronwall and Stuart devour Campbell's Soup... I know they are trying to reach the finals but the guys career could have been ended tonight if Stu had gotten a better piece of him. Absolutely not! I agree with you on this 100 percent. Obviously, someone with the Blackhawk's scouting department forgot the memo about Stuart being just as competent of a checker as Kronwall. In my opinion, Stuart let up on him a bit as well (classy by him) but it was proof of why Havlat didn't belong out there. He hasn't had time for his bell to stop ringing, let alone learn the first rule of hockey all over again. His career is definitely in jeopardy if Stuart drives full force through him on that check. RockyMountainWingGal 108 Report post Posted May 25, 2009 Havsplat needs to keep his head up. Campbell needs to keep his mouth shut. The Hawks need to get some discipline in their game. Of the three, I think the first is most important because as much as I want the Wings to win, I do not like seeing serious injuries no matter whose team a guy is on. None of these things will happen with Quenneville as coach. What a classless idiot. Maybe not Q's decision, but letting Havlat back on the ice after being knocked out cold = no concern for this guy's long term health. Then the first mediocre hit (Stu let up) and he's gone again. Maybe Q can't control Campbell's mouth, but when you hear your coach spewing idiotic things every day (worst call in sports rotflmao) you follow their example. Discipline? I would respect the Hawks a lot more if that buffoon wasn't telling them to go rough things up on the ice. Look out for this moron in game 4.

Best. post. ever. And RMWGal, I agree. Havlat is made of glass, everybody who has watched hockey for more than a couple of years knows it -- and Q didn't care. Dumb move to put Havsplat back out there, but I think he's really all they had in terms of veteran presence. Desperation + bad coaching = Havlat down again. If Q puts him back out there on Weds., I will know for certain that Quenneville should never coach NHL hockey again.

Campbells not a kid repeating what his coach says, he's just a dipshipt who thought he'd say something tough to stand up for his team, too bad he didn't realize that he would come off looking more like an idiot than anything. I just love It On the other hand, even though i totally agree with the fact the hit was clean, you can't blame Campbell for being upset about. The word gutless may sound chocking and not at all professional, but even Kronwall recognized he could have said the same if an identical situation would have occured against the Wings. The wings are just tremendous players, who have even more respect to the game than any other team. As a matter of fact the salary/score sheet comparison. They just play hard, correct and smart, inbetween and after the whistles. We just made the hawks' offensive statement by defeating them 6-1..... What else Cheers guys.... And Kronwall RULES

"Gutless" was, imo, an absolutely terrible word choice. It's just so mindblowingly far from anything resembling accurate that all I can do is laugh. For that hit to have been "gutless," Kronner would have had to have done something cowardly. What The Turtle did to Draper, that is gutless. But drilling Havlat to the ground like Kronner did? That's hockey, folks. Puck was there, Havlat had his head down. Moreover, everyone knows that sequence is Kronner's bread and butter. Hell, this was, what, the third time in the series that Kronner had bulldozed Havlat? Edited May 26, 2009 by Dabura

b.shanafan14 733 Report post Posted May 26, 2009 (edited) Campbell embarrassed himself, and will continue to do so through the completion of his immovable $7+mil/season contract. He is the punchline of NHL free agency: a one dimensional player, over paid to fill a perceived hole on a desperate team that becomes a greater liability than asset which the team will wear like a lead hood for the remainder of his days in Chicago. Not unlike their signing of Huet. The Blackhawks signed two big-money goats to put them over the top, instead, not only will those players bury them this post-season, they will make the resigning of young talent an impossible feat, as they struggle with the cap even now, as Seabrook makes around $3mil, Versteeg and Keith make peanuts, and the two young guns yet to cash in huge. Congratulations Blackhawks, you learned what will be a 5 year hard lesson about succeeding with a salary cap: Its better to be thoughtfully patient than foolishly proactive. Its better to approach a wall with room to change than hit a wall with time to lament. Edited May 26, 2009 by b.shanafan14
Guest micah Report post Posted May 26, 2009 That was a beautiful hockey hit, nowhere near gutless. That hit represented everything good about the game. Gutless was when Kronwall refused to man-up and drop 'em with the smaller Versteeg last game. If you throw your body around, people are gonna wanna go with you and avenge their teamate's injury. Give them the chance (provided they're not 2 weight classes above you or the game is tied with 4 minutes to go in the 3rd or you're an elite scorer who can't risk cutting up your dainty little hands - none of those applied here). Makes the game more interesting.

Gutless is not manning up as a teammate and biding your time to make a good hit later on on the player that did it to your player. I think it's a joke that any time there's a great hockey hit nowadays there has to be a fight with 3 or 4 players jumping on someone. Or a player charges in and hits someone from behind after a great hit. THAT'S gutless. Gutless is like when Kane comes late to scrums and spears people. Gutless is taking a few whacks at the goalie and then a player confronts you and you start skating backwards, then the player makes you his ***** and takes the mouthguard out of your mouth and throws it on the ice and you just back away faster. Gutless is talking crap in the papers but playing like a bunch of sissies with their heads on swivels on the ice afraid to get plastered like their buddy Havlat did. I didn't see Kronwall or Stuart backing down from hitting the Hawk players after all the tough talk from Campbell. If they had THAT would have been gutless.
