Opie 308 Report post Posted May 31, 2009 (edited) His comment was one of ignorance, not of baiting. If you have a problem with the mod staff, take it to the PM's. When/if mindfly breaks the rules, just like anyone else it'll be dealt with. ahahahahahahaahahhahaahahahahahahahaahahahahaahahahaha F-ing hilarious, Dude I respect you as a poster but this is just absolute BULLSH!T and you know it! Please, the flaming that goes on in this forum is ridiculous and because the Mods for some reason have a hard on for Micah and Mindfly they are running rampant on this board flaming every thread they can. Yet I will probably get banned for this post! Edited May 31, 2009 by Opie
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted May 31, 2009 This is more dangerous then your average injury. He just had surgery in a sensitive place. Trying to cut a wound open like that could be life threatening. Which is why I'm really surprised Big Rig is even playing. Like he said, the wound felt like it would rip open at times. If it happened to, or if he got hit a certain wait, it would lead to massive internal bleeding I think, likely leading to death. Boggles my mind how he got cleared to play, but what a warrior. Mors 201 Report post Posted May 31, 2009 Let me guess...it was one of two "tough" guys on the Pens, one whose name rhymes with "shrill" and the other whose name rhymes with "dickhead"...I mean Orpik...oh...well you get the idea
Stiffy 0 Report post Posted May 31, 2009 Right, that's why teams use upper and lower body injury, because they know when the player comes back he'll be targeted where he was injured. Naming half of the body in an injury means the opposing team needs to take the time to figure out where to hit him. Also, I'm not surprised Big Rig was speared, this was the same team punching Franzen in the head after he came back from a concussion. They're a classy bunch there in Pittsburgh. When Datsyuk comes back, he'll be hacked on the foot, and Draper will be speared in his groin. Right, and all the more reason for us to never reveal specifics. I don't understand why all this came out - Ericcson's appendix, Datsyuk's foot... It's War man! Could you imagine General Patton saying in the press, "Well, our left flank is a little weak and our fuel reserves are low..." What was the old WWII phrase - "loose lips sink ships"? Hell its not like baseball where nobody can tough anyone else.

ComradeWasabi 109 Report post Posted May 31, 2009 They went after Franzen's head last year, E's abdomen this year... classy through and through.

Bannedforlife 403 Report post Posted May 31, 2009 I think the entire team should have their appendix removed during the offseason so this never happens again!

P. Marlowe 748 Report post Posted May 31, 2009 Yea i guess its hard to hide the fact that a player is in a hospital having an operation. It's not like they did the operation internally (within the club) haha. Datsyuk and Lidstrom would do the operation with their surgeon hands and Osgood would stop the bleeding with his big blocker. Electrophile 3,554 Report post Posted May 31, 2009 Count me in as not surprised. They want to win, they'll do anything they can in order to do that and if it means spearing someone in the stomach who just had surgery there, then so be it. I don't expect anything less from them. Even though we want to win too, I'd like to think our guys would have the class not to do it to a Penguin if something similar happened to them.

Electrophile 3,554 Report post Posted May 31, 2009 I wouldn't bet money on that. I'm sure that some guys would be above it, but hey... it's the finals... I would lose some respect for the player that did it. I know it's the finals, but there's something to be said about winning with class and trying to rip open someone's surgical stitches by spearing the in the gut is not in any way, shape or form, classy. Just my .02. I had huge problems with them going after Mule's head when he came back from a concussion. It's the principle of the thing.
RememberStevieY 5 Report post Posted May 31, 2009 I wouldn't doubt the Pens tried something like this. Did anyone see what Cindy Crosby tried with Maltby after the game ?
therock48880 14 Report post Posted May 31, 2009 This thread has nothing to do with Datsyuk. You are sad. +1 How that's not considered baiting is beyond me. On topic: I'm not the least bit suprised that someone took shots at the area of his surgery. I'd be willing to bet that it was Cooke, too. I also believe that 3/4 of Anaheim's team would have done the same thing.

Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted May 31, 2009 It's the finals. I'd do anything to win a Cup, and you can bet to god dirtbags like Cooke and Kunitz were salivating when they heard E would play through pain last night. Hopefully he feels better tonight so he can actually HIT those mofos! Teach them a lesson Jon.
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted May 31, 2009 No, but baiting everyone by in as many words, calling Datsyuk weak, is against the rules. Honestly, this kid must have you mods in his back pocket or something. I don't get it. Meanwhile, guys like OsGOD get bans for going off-topic. Fair dinkum, you blokes. I still can't figure out how GMR hasn't been banned yet? As for Ericsson, he needs to grab the next guy who spears him and start wailing away. Hopefully it's Crosby. Hopefully it's Crosby. IF that happens, I think it will set a new record for quickest time for a video to get on YouTube after live airing and most views for a hockey clip.. I'm just saying it's gonna happen. Ericsson's surgery was pretty minor as far as surgeries go and I'm sure whatever they did they weren't doing it to seriously injure him, but rather make him think twice. Also, a shot to the head of someone who has sustained head trauma is also considerably worse that a shot to the gut to someone who's undergone an appendectomy... Ericsson was out what, one game? Of course it's not classy, but really...how classy do you want your hockey? Lady Byngs all around? This isn't figure skating. Let's say a family member dies and their family tells them to just keep playing in the series. Do hockey players try to use that to their advantage?
