YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 so why would we give a raise to a one-dimensional player? I'll keep hudler, but for his same salary. He hasn't shown he deserves a raise, so if wants more than $1.1, good on ya huds! Enjoy your career! You're quickly proving yourself to be one of the most ignorant posters on the board. Hossa4Life 4 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 That throws me a bit. I have a real hard time believe they'd go under $4 million at him. That just sounds a little absurd. I still haven't seen it pop up anywhere else. Yea all i have been doing since then is looking for confirming reports
dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 Im hoping this is a faulse report. It is hard to believe they only offering 3.75-4.00. I was expecting more like4- 4.5 million at least They gave him the best offer they could give. Holland isn't stupid, he must have known there was very little chance Hossa would accept that offer, but he simply couldn't go any higher.

Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 No joke. I don't understand why people think that Hudler will be getting huge offer sheets. He's a completely one-dimensional player, and he's certainly not a well-known one. I think this is the first time we've ever agreed on anything Crymson! Thanks for the 40 goals, but a monkey could've done what you did in the Finals.
LeftWinger 5,153 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 (edited) Good to hear that. Because Holland would easily match an offer for $2.5. You obviously have no clue what 57 point 25 year olds are worth. Oh God! I hope he wouldn't waste $2.5 million on Hudler.... Besides that would only be 10 forwards with only $800,000 cap to go. You couldn't even re-sign Leino if you gave Hudler $2.5... Holland would be an ass. I know what 57 point 25 year old are worth, BUT we don't have enough cap space to give Hudler $2.5 AND complete our forward units.... He'll have to make the same salary, at least for one more year, then possibly get a raise in 2010... Or bid adieu! Not unless Holland does a Zetterberg type contract where Huds makes $2.5 per year, but he cap hit is only $1.0. That I could deal with, don't know if I culd deal with Hudler for the next 10 years, but maybe he turns into something good! gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?...e=lebrun_pierre • Hossa update: The clock is ticking and Marian Hossa still hasn't re-signed with the Red Wings. Right now, it looks like he's headed to free agency. "It appears that way," Wings GM Ken Holland told ESPN.com via text message at 9:30 p.m. ET. If that's the quote the report is based on, it's not quite rock solid. Obviously things are leaning towards free agency but what I've said all along, I still wouldn't be shocked to see this done Thursday or Friday. I think Hossa owes it to himself to see what's out there, but if it's not all as Winter would have it and the Wings struggle to resign Sammy or Hudler, I wouldn't rule it out. Time will tell. Hossa4Life 4 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 Any chance that Hossa will sign a one year deal somewhere else and come back next year when we have slightly more cap space
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 Thanks for the memories, Hossa. You're a classy guy, not many would take the discount you did. You fit in well here and seemed like you were born to be a Wing. Wish you luck wherever you go, it's been fun! And hey, even classier that you didn't laugh at the Wings when they offered you 3.75-4 million and tried to work with them as long as possible.
soonboomer 31 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 Thanks for the work during the season. Piss off for wasting $7m of our cap space and a roster spot with your ridiculous disappearing act in the playoffs. Really.....now we can afford several no talent North American thugs who can protect our Euro-***** skill players and really contribute to a successful run in the 2010 playoffs

KrazyGangsta 79 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 No Hudler please either ... I would rather get some picks then him on the team. Re-sign Leino and call up Adkel and Helm for full time hockey. Sign a gritty player please someone that has heart and soul to win a cup (Like Drake) Sad day for us ... but can't be worst then Federov ... Thanks for everything Hossa you tried your best and we tried out best but didn't work out hope all the luck in the future.
Statts 4 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 Good luck Marian! it was a great year I'll always be a fan of yours (most likely, pending a signing and success vs the Wings ) +1 Wish him success, just not against the Wings.

He's very pro Lidstrom and Datsyuk, etc He was simply giving his opinion of Hossa, just because he scored 40 goals in the regular season doesnt make it ok he took the Finals off. Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 Cool. Depth wins championships. We've got enough elite players, we need to make sure the Wings aren't icing a half NHL half AHL line-up, and that means bringing Hudler back to increase the scoring depth. Hudler's good for 60+ points next season (he's always trended upwards and scored 57 pts last season), that won't be easy to replace. w00t! Come back to Detroit Hudles. dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 Any chance that Hossa will sign a one year deal somewhere else and come back next year when we have slightly more cap space Very, very small. For a hockey player it's a big risk to sign one-year deals.
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 Kenny would match a $2.5 million dollar offer sheet and leave $800,000 to sign 2 more forwards and walk away from draft picks? I think not. It's all about the cap. Draft picks? Its a 2nd round pick. Whoop-Dee-Doo. You're a moron if you think Holland would let Hudler walk away for a 2nd round pick, and not do something to make up the cap space, which would be a breeze. Hes already acknowledged that hes trading a Dman anyways, so that frees up at least 500k. And at any rate, you still haven't addressed the arbitration issue. You take a player to arbitration, hes protected from offer sheets, and can negotiate with him up until his trial. Welcome to hockey.

Apparently we don't have enough elite players because ours didn't perform too well in the playoffs. I wish people would stop pretending like Hossa didn't matter. He was huge for us, every player has a bad playoff run or two. The whole team was a bit off kilter all year. It sucks that we're losing the talent like Hossa, but it makes me feel okay, knowing that it does open up some space for us to make some moves.
