Kronwall out 4-8 weeks with sprained MCL

That was such a dirty hit by a piece of s*** player, RIGHT AFTER highsticking Helm. Kronwall's now out 12 games minimum, and possibly more pending the tests. Our boys gotta step it up now, the count is now Franzen, Filppula, Williams, Lilja still and now Kronwall.

So now what? Are we looking at Lebda, Meech and Ericsson as the bottom three? I'd like to see Janik play again, I thought he was pretty solid when he was called up.

How will the new pairings look? Lidstrom/Lebda, Rafalski/Ericsson, Stuart/Meech?

MRI could also reveal damage inside the knee to the cruciate ligaments. So don't hold your breath. If the cruciates are also damaged could be up to 4-6 months or longer. It looked really bad to me as his leg was whipped around like a rubber band.

Kronwall tore the ACL in the same knee a few years ago.

This really is pretty much best case scenario for what happened there. I'm not saying this as a homer, but after watching and rewatching that shift multiple times, but if Laraque doesn't get suspended for a decent amount of games, this league is further degrading into laughing stock status. That was honestly one of the dirtiest shifts I've seen in a long time. The high stick wasn't just a high stick, but the more you watch it, it's a slash to the face, and then add on the seeming purposeful knee to Kronner.

I hope something bad almost happens to Laraque. Just enough to scare him, ya know?

I was screaming at the tv after I watched Helm, and Kronner get injured. Than I figured out Laraque did both. I hope he sits out some games, than May can find him in a dark alley and break his jaw.

Anyone else starting to think that these injuries are a legitimate excuse for any struggles the Wings have?

Of course. If they can hang around in the standings until they get healthy, they'll be fine. There is so little separating teams now that they should be able to do that.

Sounds about right, you got a 'weak side' and a babysitter in each pairing, which is imo the best they can do at this point no matter who you put in there. That said I still think they've got defensemen playing in GR that are as good AND have something to prove.

Tell ya what Lebda/Meech need to realize for themselves if they play well they might get picked up by someone when they're waived by February if all goes well....

When I saw the hit I thought for sure that was Kronner's season. That looked nasty. I'll believe 2-3 weeks when I see him play next.

No, no , no. many teams have far more important injuries but they still play with fire.

First two weeks Red Wings played like their season had not started; it seems that 2 weeks ago star players finally were caught with harsh reality.

I expected this team to start with intensity because they lost in finals in pretty shameful way: they were outplayed in 7th game at home. ( please, whatever excuses somebody wants to bring up, the fact remains that they lost 7th game at home)

The worst part about these injuries is their long-term status. None of our guys are coming back anytime soon and we already look like we can't score goals anymore even strength.

I never really respected Laraque as an enforcer (because he's a stupid wrestler), but now I respect him even less. He did that s*** on purpose, most likely because of Kronwall's reputation as a guy who's a dirty hitter himself at times.

No way that was accidental.

Laraque is one enforcer this league could do without.

The good news is, according to Holland, we get to see 2-3 weeks MINIMUM of Derek Meech! WOOOO!!!!

It didn't look that bad. =/

Well with the first angle I saw of it I couldn't tell if the knee was hyperextended or not. Don't kid yourself here though that could've been worse.

oh and- let's hope it's not.

When is Lilja supposed to be coming back, anyway?

Meech is a waste of space, as is Lebda. Ericsson is starting to remind me of Uwe Krupp out there. We need Lilja back immediately.

i actually miss lilja too.
