Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted September 16, 2010 I would be sad to see him go to the Sharks, but good for him if he gets on their team.

WizardOfOz30 1,886 Report post Posted September 16, 2010 I would prefer him to stay a Wing but that's already been decided. So hopefully he'll make the team and be able to play another year or two. Good luck to him but he will be missed.

GMRwings1983 8,794 Report post Posted September 16, 2010 They don't have a true enforcer on their team, so it's not a bad idea for them. Plus, the chicks on the West coast will love him. Sucks that he won't be playing in Detroit next year, though.

Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted September 16, 2010 (edited) I wonder if McLellan received a pity call from Holland recently about Lils. Or maybe McLellan just knows Lilja and knows he is a good bottom pairing defenseman and pushed for it. Edited September 16, 2010 by Z and D for the C

One nasty hit, and his career could be over. 2 8 Legged RedWing and NotTooAbby reacted to this
LidstromIsASuperhero 29 Report post Posted September 16, 2010 I remember the days when Lilja was the whipping boy on this site... nice to see him get some love. I liked him on the PK and as a defensive zone guy, but his best days were when he was beating ass and became known as the Pain Train lol.

55fan 5,133 Report post Posted September 16, 2010 He is the Pain Train. Hopefully he will remember us when we play against him, and not hurt us too badly. Best of luck to him and his family. 1 Hockeymom1960 reacted to this
Octopus's Garden 147 Report post Posted September 16, 2010 Nothing at all surprising here. If Lilja can't make that team, given the current state of its d-corps, then he'll either have to crawl back to Detroit or head to Europe. This is a perfect scenario for him. Time for the current guys here, especially the younger ones, to step up. Lebda and Lilja are gone ... only the best remain 1 Cheveldae32 reacted to this
