mmamolo 287 Report post Posted June 28, 2011 I also think Eaves. Despite what a lot of members on this board think about Ericsson I'd prefer not giving up on him yet (obviously at a reasonable contract price) but Eaves' has come a long way and is becoming a valuable part of this team (if he hasn't already become that already). He may feel as though he could have a bigger role elsewhere and that probably is true. But if he continues to remind himself of the path Dan Cleary took to get where he is now with the Wings he should understand how he'll be rewarded by moving forward with the Wings. To me, he's the key guy right now of the Wings current UFAs 2 stevkrause and T.Low reacted to this
egroen 384 Report post Posted June 28, 2011 Apparently Holland has already given Eaves and Miller "take it or leave it" contracts and has yet to hear back from their agents.
Travis 576 Report post Posted June 28, 2011 The only one I would legitimately not want to lose is Patrick Eaves, followed by Ericsson. The others are good pieces, but I can deal with their departure whether it be through free agency or retirement in some cases.
Konnan511 1,736 Report post Posted June 28, 2011 I wasn't able to pick between Miller and Eaves. They're damn near identical. Eaves is slightly better at offense while Miller is better at defense. Both are highly replaceable (Miller is the better shot blocker, Eaves has the better shot) and I couldn't care less which one is re-signed as long as it means Mursak has a full time role next season. 1 Red Wings Addict reacted to this

SwedeLundin77 460 Report post Posted June 28, 2011 The problem is that Eaves can contribute on a nightly basis on the third line and can perform spot duty on the second line with some powerplay time mixed in. He has the scoring touch, but he has been so converted to a defensive forward that he rarely sees the time. I want Eaves here, and I want him permanently on the third line. The only reason Eaves leaves is if he doesn't feel he can get adequate playing time or is platooning from the 4th line to the bench. 1 Rick D reacted to this

I think Eaves still has a lot more upside than Miller and I think could play a bigger role here in a couple years, if he just sticks with it... Apparently Holland has already given Eaves and Miller "take it or leave it" contracts and has yet to hear back from their agents. I know and that's what makes me so nervous about it... Agreed completely, I'm not ready to give up on Ericsson just yet either, but if I had to chose between Ericsson or Eaves(not that it's a fair comparison, or that relative either) I would take Eaves at this point... I personally wouldn't be opposed to Miller coming back either, but only if Eaves chooses not to...

dirtydangles 1,328 Report post Posted June 28, 2011 i really don't want ericsson. he sends bad vibes all the way through our defense. with smith and kindl developing we need solid guys for them to play with, not mistake ridden garbage that needs taking care of himself.... 2 NotTooAbby and Rick D reacted to this
13dangledangle 968 Report post Posted June 28, 2011 I agreed with Eaves then Ericsson. I like Eaves a lot and think that when he gets hot he could be utilized in the top 6 and PP. On the other hand If he walks for a better role/pay check then all the best. With Mursak and Emmerton coming up our bottom 6 is loaded. I wish we could get another sniper, I miss the line combos of the Hossa days. 1 lil Wing's fan reacted to this
PaZel 19 Report post Posted June 28, 2011 Eaves is the perfect role player imo. The guy does it all and is a hell of a hockey player! Plus he's only in his late twenties, he's got plenty of hockey left in him.

MGreenberg 105 Report post Posted June 28, 2011 (edited) I hope the Wings keep Eaves and Miller(or hope they want to stay). it is Ozzie and Drapers time to hang them up, as they have had great careers here and have nothing left to prove. Then the only two left are Big E and Salei, who can walk for all I care. Edited June 28, 2011 by MGreenberg
Konnan511 1,736 Report post Posted June 28, 2011 Miller and Eaves are the only two I care about, as much as I like and respect Ozzie and Draper I think it is their time to step aside. Ericsson and Salei, I could care less about. If you could care less about Salei and Ericsson, does that mean you like them a lot or just a little? Because honestly, I couldn't care less about those two.

Konnan511 1,736 Report post Posted June 28, 2011 See I could care less about Ericsson coming back, but I couldn't care less about Salei coming back. I guess that's how I feel too. I could care less about Ericsson, but if he accepts 1.75mil or less, then I'd welcome him back, but if he wants 2mil+, then I just couldn't care less if he comes back or not. Kerjuxaxaxa 6 Report post Posted June 28, 2011 Patrick Eaves, because I like how he played with Helm on the line last season. Helm + Eaves + Mursak will be a pefect line. Also I wouldn't mind to keep Miller . As for others it's time to go/retire.
WorkingOvertime 536 Report post Posted June 28, 2011 only one I am semi-worried about is Eaves, but all are replaceable. I agree. I'm not worried if any of those players aren't re-signed, but Eaves is the one player I would like to keep (most).
Wingzman91 134 Report post Posted June 28, 2011 I voted Miller, thought he could do most of what Eaves could, but for much less. Eaves made around 1 mill last year and Miller basically cloned him for 400,000 less. That said it was close I hope we get both, but not at anymore than 750k, if they want more i'd play Emmerton and Mursak. We could still sign someone with that money to help with 4th/pk duty. McAwesome 754 Report post Posted June 28, 2011 I voted Eaves, of all our UFAs he has the most upside by far. Miller is replaceable, Ericsson needs to go if he thinks he is worth more than 2mil per year, Salei was OK for us but there are better younger options available for the 5/6 hole, Draper and Osgood are just taking roster spots away from up and coming players at this point, loyalty aside they need to do the right thing and step away for the sake of the future of this team. 13dangledangle 968 Report post Posted June 28, 2011 (edited) I think it would be nice for Drapes to finish out his last couple years in Winnipeg. He has them left to give we just have developed so many of his style for when he was gone its time to go now. He would be a great person to have around a new organization like that and really help the Jets get on a solid path fast , pun intended.
