I see no problem with this. Just makes it a little easier to tell who the player is. Doesn't look ugly at all either.

It's so Helm can see who he just breezed by in his rearview mirror!

It's not so bad. Many times I've watched an opposing team and wondered who someone is but wasn't able to get his number to look him up. I recognize the marquee players, but 4th line RW for the Panthers? Um, not so much.

It's not garish. I could just as easily do without, but it's not like "Amway presents #25" or something.

What's that? I can't see....

Oh sorry, the shimmering light from the gateway arch into uniforms covered with advertisements was too blinding for a second.

I guess it all depends on the minimum font size allowed. The font on those helms is way too obtrusive.

Then again, it's from Puckdaddy so knows where the truth lies once the childish grandstanding is filtered out.

but it's not like "Amway presents #25" or something.

Please don't give them any ideas.

:P

I'll have to wait to see it in a game before I can comment on if I like it or not.

Thoughts?

I feel like this should apply to the NHL as well:

It's fine for Columbus, but necessarily for us. STATES RIGHTS GUYS!!
Q: Of all the individual trophies you have not won, which one would you most like to win?
Datsyuk: I have so many of them that I haven't won. I think I would most like to win a trophy to the best goaltending duo.

I can deal with it, but I am more in favor of the number size being smaller on the front of the helmet. The example of the helmet on the link makes it look a bit like the oversized IIHF stickers on the front of the helmets from the world junior and the world championship tournaments.

Case in point below... :scared:

It's not great, but it's not horrible either. I can live with them, begrudgingly.

I was hoping the numbers on the helmet were going to be about the Lokomotiv team.

At first glance I really thought it was kind of dumb. It just seems redundant to me. However, for newer fans it will obviously help. I personalyl don't really like the look but I definitely can't say that it's not functional.

It'd be better if every player had their name transposed onto the ice under them and a blue circle around whoever had the puck. Would probably make the game easier to watch.

This was exactly what I was thinking when I read the Thread title.
It's amazing how much clarity comes when you care more about the Red Wings than any individual player.

"They are the best team in the world. They are a team that can just take over when they want to," Chicago's Patrick Kane said (of the Detroit Red Wings).

The back doesn't bother me, but the front does.
"It is a lot easier to be an ******* to words than to people"-xkcd

Tootoo does NOT belong on this team. He is classless and I would rather see the Wings be bad than classless. I feel the same way about Bertuzzi as well, but he at least CAN make the team better. With Tootoo the team becomes worse and in danger of being classless. Would you have liked Claude on the team? Or Roy? No. So why would you be okay with that POS.

This thread has been closed due to emotions being higher than people's ability to read, interpret, and properly respond to simple posts.
