WSH GM George McPhee fired Bruce Boudreau this morning. Dale Hunter is the new head coach. Will be at practice this morning.

It's a good thing the League installed the no player-coach rule.

I'd say 24/7 had a pretty big hand in that.

Hopefully Dale Hunter is a terrible coach and Alex Semin likes coney dogs. Hopefully those two things are true.

Wow, that's pretty big.

Not sure Dale Hunter is the savior they want, but I wish him luck.

It's about time, but honestly I'm surprised it happened now. When it didn't happen in the offseason I thought they were going to give him another shot at the playoffs.

I guess Ovie's sulking finally did him in.

What's wrong with Hunter?

He has been an excellent coach for the London Knights of the OHL for many years now and won a Memorial Cup with them. They are one of the top team in the CHL right now and could be on their way to another Mem Cup appearance. He has also coached some great players over the years that have gone through London Knights system.

I am sure he will be fine and is just what those underachievers in Washington need.

I had alot of respect for him until I saw that. He was a very soft coach.
"When the cast comes off, I ask my doctor, 'Have I recovered so I can play the violin?' The doctor says, 'But of course you can play the violin.' I say, 'Wow, this is great. Before this injury, I could never play violin at all. I must break the other hand so I can play guitar.'" –Pavel Datsuk on breaking his hand

One year too late. When you have a team of selfish players who don't want to learn defense to succeed because they don't respect you, it's time as a GM to cut ties with that coach for someone who the players respect.

They could have benefitted from MacClean a lot...
