GoalieManPat 1,007 Report post Posted June 30, 2013 Only two spots back and you pick up another 2nd rounder. Gotta count that as a win. 2 Hockeymom1960 and Serratoni reacted to this
haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted June 30, 2013 I guess Holland didn't want the Wings to have the highest pick they've had since 2005? Actually I forgot Kindl was 19th so I think it would've been the highest pick they've had since they drafted Lapointe in 91? Or am I forgetting someone? sputman 1,268 Report post Posted June 30, 2013 I'd rather have Blumber Operton from the Flomboyd Flampwonkers. You would like him
LeftWinger 5,132 Report post Posted June 30, 2013 Well all my guys are still there.....so hopefully Holland snags one at 20....wonder who the Sharks wanted so bad to move up two spots?
ogreslayer 1,069 Report post Posted June 30, 2013 Trading down just means there are multiple players the Wings are targeting that will still be available. Why not grab another pick under that circumstance?
Guest Playmaker Report post Posted June 30, 2013 just read "gillis said he did not talk to luongo before agreeing to the schnider deal" on the twitter feed under the draft coverage.... it could get messier haha It isn't like Luongo has a lot of options. He plays in Vancouver and gets paid or he sits out and doesn't. It isn't like Vancouver didn't try to trade him.

dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted June 30, 2013 Good trade. Holland & Co. probably takes their chances that the guy they would have picked at 18 will still be around at 20 and adding a 2nd rounder in process, knowing the kind of diamonds we have a habit of finding that late is a smart move. 1 Marxx71 reacted to this
LeftWinger 5,132 Report post Posted June 30, 2013 That extra 2nd rounder will be important when Holland trades one in the Bobby Ryan deal!
dobbles 252 Report post Posted June 30, 2013 love that trade.lose out on the possibility of 2 players and pick up a top 60 pick. good asset management.

gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted June 30, 2013 When I heard "The Detroit Red Wings," I cracked up and instantly recalled how Holland was so adamant about not trading our first round pick at the deadline. I guess he'll trade it after all...
