nyqvististhefuture 1,002 Report post Posted March 6, 2014 (edited) So we should start giving kids a spot in the lineup every time they get pissy and refuse playing in the AHL to develop their game? s*** I'm glad players with these attitudes get shown the door. We need team players, not big egos with me attitudes. No ... But with our current situation would it really of hurt us to give him a 20 game trial and see what he does in the nhl?? Do you really believe with all the injuries legwand is gonna make the difference it's us getting into the playoffs or not?? I'd much rather see what jarnkrok does , at worst he shows he's not ready and leaves for Sweden or another team offers him a better chance and we sign legwand In the off season At best he surprises and shows us he can play .... Tatar also wanted out cause he was fed up of playing in the ahl for 4 seasons .... Look where he's at now ... Sheahan and jurco was also believed not to be ready should of just given him a try .. That's my opinion Edited March 6, 2014 by nyqvististhefuture
marcaractac 3,963 Report post Posted March 6, 2014 Hey - we could demand Holland's resignation, and instead have Brian Burke as our GM. Oh god don't give them any ideas LOL
Crashnburnluder 385 Report post Posted March 6, 2014 I read somewhere today that Vancouver wanted nyquist, Tatar, mantha and our 1st in 2014 for Kessler. I don't have the "source" at hand but that was said to be the ask for him. Imagine the mob if that trade happened... lol 1 Internet.Unknown reacted to this

I don't have the "source" at hand but that was said to be the ask for him. The Wings aren't going to ante up at the current asking price for Kesler — it'd cost some combination of Gustav Nyquist/Tomas Tatar/Tomas Jurco/Riley Sheahan, along with the Wings' first-rounder from last year, Anthony Mantha, plus the first-round pick in this year's draft. http://www.freep.com/article/20140303/SPORTS05/303030109/detroit-red-wings-nhl-trade-deadline
pucktividi 472 Report post Posted March 6, 2014 Holland is being hated on because he wasn't able to steal a player away from another team. It's all Holland's fault that there aren't enough GMs as bad as Garth Snow. Shame on him. Well the price for the other big names moved today speaks that Ken had to make a better deal in Legwand trade. Just my 2 cents.

That's my opinion Yeah, it probably would have hurt us. There is not enough time to let someone get used to hockey at the NHL level. We need someone who can step in right now and play a solid 2 way game. I mean, if all our prospects are sooooooo good, we should just trade Dats, Hank, Mule, Weiss, Alfie, and Kronner. Surely we don't need them if all these kids are every day NHL'ers right now. Nobody could call our team old then!

I heard Babcock and the assistant coaches had to stop Kenny by tieing him up to his chair and when Kenny wouldn't stop whining they allowed him to make the legwand trade
Guest Playmaker Report post Posted March 6, 2014 There's no guarantee that even if he played in the NHL that he'd stay in NA. I think there's a perception by North Americans that everyone else in the world wants to be here. If he can play at home, still make a good living, play a lot less games, in a much less physical environment, why not? 1 marcaractac reacted to this

Hard to judge the going rate on players through trade based on what Garth Snow gift wraps players for. Plus, Vanek is gonna test the market. Legwand wants to be here and will most likely help this team beyond this year.

Looks like a Desperation trade by Kenny Nobody is saying it wasn't a desperation move. He found out he lost Dats for 3 weeks. He had to do something to give this team a fighting chance so he did. Teams don't get players for cheap when it is known they are desperate. It has always been that way. Welcome to sports. 1 F.Michael reacted to this
DickieDunn 2,571 Report post Posted March 6, 2014 Wings were in on Kessler. Vancouver didn't trade him. They needed to make a trade for a center or pack it in. Ownership mandates the Wings push for the playoffs, Holland made the move he had to make. The Ownership is in Lakeland Florida right now. You're right. And it's not like they have some kind of device that would let them communicate with Holland. Gotta wait for those pony express riders. 2 Internet.Unknown and F.Michael reacted to this

8 Legged RedWing 367 Report post Posted March 6, 2014 I didn't bother to read 34 pages of what I'm sure is bitching but I'm fine with this. With the injury bug biting us again, this could help stop the bleeding. Everyone wants Kenny to make a trade but they never want to give up any prospects. Jarnkrok could turn out to be nothing or a star. We don't know and neither do the Preds. That's how trades work. It's a gamble but as of today it helps the Wings and I would rather make the playoffs than miss them because we didn't make a move with our plethora of prospects. 1 marcaractac reacted to this

Guys like Nyquist who already prove they can play in this league gets those kinds of players. Mantha gets those kind of players. People over value the prospects way too much. Jarnkrok is unproven. If he pans out, good for him. At this point he is as likely to be a bust as he is likely to be a good first line player. well if you`d just try to remember the roster situation from november until the end of january, I guess you could come up with a period of games where he could actually fill a spot for our injured C`s, you know, same way Sheahan, Glendening, Emmerton and Anderson did..some of them played in 2nd/3rd line roles..so there`s that hurting us angle We also struggled dearly during these times and slipped out of a playoff spot. They needed someone proven to help out right now, and we got it. That isn't a fault on these players. They have played well. But they are effective right now in the bottom 6. They don't have the experience to play against opponents best players night in and night out. Legwand does. 1 Internet.Unknown reacted to this

I think there's a perception by North Americans that everyone else in the world wants to be here. If he can play at home, still make a good living, play a lot less games, in a much less physical environment, why not? I think that's the perception because he has already come to North America and is willing to play in a league here that's inferior to the NHL. ShanahanMan 473 Report post Posted March 6, 2014 Fischer seemed to think Jarnkrok was possibly our best prospect: “He’s certainly one of our most talented, if not the most talented prospect,” Fischer said. “Not to take anything away from others like Anthony Mantha, but Calle, the stuff he can do – he is as good as anybody in terms of hand-eye coordination and skill in tight places. “He makes plays and it’s just a matter of time until he really starts putting up big numbers.” 1 nyqvististhefuture reacted to this
