Just got a tweet stating the Poile has said he will not offer Patrick Eaves a contract.

Bummer for Eaves.

Eaves seems to be in that tough position where he's not physical enough to be a consistent 4th liner (including injuries), and not skilled enough to play on a 3rd line. He's got really high IQ on the PK, but he's had such terrible luck getting hurt. I wish the guy nothing but the best.

I feel terrible for him the guy deserves to play an injury free season and show the teams what he can do. Maybe he should put on a few more pounds in order to become a physical fourth liner.

If Trotz can get in the ear of GMBM... I think Legwand will end up in Washington. Trotz loved Legwand and the Caps could use a guy like that. Maybe Eaves too if Trotz liked him enough.

Good luck Patty.

I'd love to see him back in Detroit if we have room. I think the guy's tremendously underrated at the price point he's at and if given more of a standard role, I think he stands to offer a lot more than other like players. It's hard to see it happening, but who knows given that we could see trades go down that create more openings than expected. I noticed a thread about Cleary coming back. I'm afraid to even open it. It would be insane to me to bring Cleary back and not someone like Eaves who would be cheaper and better at this point. This guy deserves a role and deserves to be playing every night.

i was pissed when i heard eaves was out for leggy.

he worked his butt off for the wings.

we could put him in for andersson and he would deliver more points, better defensive zone coverage.(prob better faceoff % too.)

but i think i heard he was in babs doghouse most of the time.

good luck patty...may the force be with you. (and reuben)

I really liked Eaves. He worked hard and just seemed like an all-around nice guy. Plus, he is (was?) the only Wing that I have an autograph from ;) I hope he can find a place somewhere and have a productive, healthy season.

I liked eaves to. Was a good fourth liner...we just had about 10 good fourth liners.

I'm not really surprised, never saw Nashville as the kind of team where he would be a good fit. I hope he finds a home in the NHL though, he's a solid player and if I was the GM of a team like Edmonton, NYI, Ottawa, Buffalo etc. I wouldn't hesitate to pick him up.

He really should find a place somewhere, he can be a decent player if he can stay healthy. I'd like to see him go to a rebuilding team that needs offense (I know, Nashville didn't work) so that maybe he has an expanded role offensively. He has a good shot and is/was a pretty good skater.

I've been saying for years, as have a lot of you, that having both Miller and Eaves on the team is extremely redundant. I was usually in the Eaves camp until the injuries started to pile up. Wish him all the best, though.
