Yzerfan87 146 Report post Posted February 24, 2015 This might be for the best actually. Could force Holland to make a move to improve the blue line.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted February 24, 2015 I'd rather he get the surgery now. He'll be back in time for the playoffs, lots of guys in the minors could get looks, and Kindl hasn't looked horrible since he's been back. 2 55fan and F.Michael reacted to this
Smite 399 Report post Posted February 24, 2015 This might be for the best actually. Could force Holland to make a move to improve the blue line. Marchenko has been good to great. He was a stud last night, especially on the PK and with the newly found Kindl I am not sure if we need anyone. That being said I would like to see how the last 3 games look before the trade deadline. wingfan1991 221 Report post Posted February 24, 2015 This might be for the best actually. Could force Holland to make a move to improve the blue line. Highly unlikely what's more likely is that our fave Kindl will take his spot and be in that top 4 yay
kipwinger 8,524 Report post Posted February 24, 2015 Highly unlikely what's more likely is that our fave Kindl will take his spot and be in that top 4 yay Why? Because it's more fun to negative about it? Holland said on a number of occasions that he'd make a move ONLY if it would upgrade the defense. If Quincey is out for the season, and Kindl is in, our defense is noticeably worse. As such, it'll be more likely to require an upgrade. When your defense is pretty good, only a few guys qualify as an "upgrade". When it's not very good, a lot of guys could be an upgrade. Sadly, unless it's a real slam dunk trade, you're probably only getting back to the level you were at with Quincey in the first place.
RedWingsRox 614 Report post Posted February 24, 2015 At one time, this board would jump in elation if Q was injured for a short term but he has matured and proven to be a reliable Dman. 1 MidMichSteve reacted to this
Ram 240 Report post Posted February 24, 2015 This would be a real bummer. Quincey has had quite the bounce back year and has looked real solid for our defense, in my opinion. I called for his head almost every game last season. Hope that if he's due for surgery it is quick. Godspeed. 2 55fan and Z Winged Dangler reacted to this
GoWings1905 2,694 Report post Posted February 24, 2015 Never thought I would be so disappointed that Kyle Quincey was missing time. A part of that is due to Quincey's play this season and the other part is the Red Wings defense just isn't very good. Ericsson and Kindl in the top-four isn't a very assuring situation. chaps80 1,591 Report post Posted February 24, 2015 This might be for the best actually. Could force Holland to make a move to improve the blue line. Quincey has been great this year. We need to add to the defence without losing him. All his injury does is set us back, even with a trade. Heres to a speedy recovery Q! If he can avoid the surgery without being a liability, then thats great. If not, have the surgery and come back in time for the playoffs give or take. I agree that Q has been great. If he's out for a long time though, Holland may make a trade to improve the blue line, and when Q is back, we'll still be better. 1 chaps80 reacted to this
chaps80 1,591 Report post Posted February 24, 2015 Agreed. Depending upon the amount of 'damage' to the joint - I'm guessing it'll be 4 to 8 weeks of recovery. He's been pretty steady for us thus far which is nice to see for I was one that wanted him outta Detroit. I think most people wanted him out of Detroit. lol Happy for him though. Never thought he'd actually earn his money when he signed that deal.

It might light a fire under Holland's ass if he'll be out awhile. Either way, something needs to be done. Only a few days till the deadline. I know we won't get a top defenceman, just needed reinforcement if anything.

I know we won't get a top defenceman, just needed reinforcement if anything. This is what I was saying. Q being out could force Holland to make improvements, getting a #3/4 type guy, which improves us while Q is out and still helps when Q comes back. 1 chaps80 reacted to this
