So in the next 2-3 years you don't believe there will be a trade to cut any of the forwards?... You think there's room for Helm, Abdelkader, Sheahan, Nyquist, Tatar, Jurco, Pulkkinen, Mantha, Athanasiou, Bertuzzi, Larkin, Svechnikov? Or do you not think they will all make it?...

Not all will make it. They'll peace out Filppula/Hudler style or Emmerton/Mursak style. One or the other.

I think there will eventually be a trade. May not be this season or the next, but the amount of talent we have coming, you would think something has to give...

I've been saying that about our "logjam" at forward for about 5 years now. At this point I don't expect it to happen.

I think the depth we have at forward now is miles better than anything we've ever had in Detroit. Larkin, Svechnikov, Mantha, Athanasiou, Bertuzzi, etc > > > Sheahan, Jarnkrok, Nyquist, Tatar, Jurco in my opinion... Not to mention, when the latter ground were prospects, we were lacking depth, with this current crop, we're already loaded on the big club with young talent... I don't see how we can get through a couple more years without making a trade involving a couple of these guys...

I am very high on Bertuzzi and have watched him a ton over the past year, from his time with Guelph (Memorial Cup) and his short time so far with the Griffins. I see him as an Abdelkader type of player, that can slot in anywhere up and down the lineup. He plays a very gritty game, hits everything, goes to the hard areas of the ice, and can chip in on the offense. Simply put, he's exactly the type of player that you win with...

I'm also fairly high on Holmstrom, but unfortunately I haven't seen much of him, other than the World Junior's and a few clips of him playing for A.I.K. in the SEL. I do know that he is developing quite nicely over in Sweden though and has put up some incredible numbers. He broke SEL playoff point records held by the Sedins and Kopitars with 18 points in 15 games. I think Henrik Sedin had something like 12 points in 13 games or 13 in 14... Not bad for an 18 year old playing against men...

In saying that, I don't see either as a lock in the top 6. They can both get there but I see both as 2nd/3rd line tweeners...

Svechnikovs goal in the shootout after the prospects scrimmage was insane.

His hands are quick as hell and his body control is crazy.

He's 22 in white.

The third shooter in this video right after lil Bert.

Bertuzzi has much more offense upside then Abs ever did imo. Bertuzzi will be a beauty for the winged wheel

I was comparing their style of play more so than their production. However I do kind of disagree that Bertuzzi has a higher offensive upside. Abdelkader put up very good numbers (95 points in 124 games) over 3 seasons in the NCAA, while Bertuzzi did slightly better (172 points in 201 games) over 4 seasons in junior. Junior hockey is much easier to score than college hockey. Abdelkader also put up very solid numbers in the American League (76 points in 109 games). And although Bertuzzi has a much higher points per game pace to start his pro career, I'm sure he won't keep up that same pace. I'd be willing to bet, they end up having very similar numbers in the AHL when Bert graduates to the NHL. Either way, I love this kid, and I agree that he will be a great Red Wing very soon.

Bertuzzi just seems to have the tenacity and grit to make it in the NHL no matter what, much like Abby. I think the Maltby comparisons are very accurate.

For my next prediction, I predict there will be no such trade. The Red Wings will carry on as they always have.

And I'll bet 100 of Kips dollars on it.

Only if half are going to the charity of your choice... ;)

...but really guys, thanks for keeping me somewhat clued in to the prospects. !!!

Has Jarrett Meyer been talked about yet? Anyone wanting big guys, here ya go. He still got a long way to go but, a camp invite of the wings at 18, he is 6'9 & 246 lbs with plenty of time to develop. Here's to hoping the Detroit developmental system works its magic..

Don't know about here, but there are multiple articles floating around social media about the kid:

@DetroitRedWings: READ: Meyer makes very big impression; At 6'9" free agent D is raw with an incredible upside - http://t.co/oV0twKuLgx http://t.co/356oCsJKsi
