I like to piss and moan about the Wings, but if I remove my tongue from my cheek for a moment, then, yeah, I mostly agree with this. "The Lidstrom Era" was a perfect storm of awesomeness, the likes of which the hockey world will never see again. That the Wings would one day end up in the basement has long been an inevitability.

There's room for criticism, though.

I still watch "Lidström games". There is always more to see. The second best defenseman of all time.

As to your main points, yup, I agree.

Now I'll pack my bag for some pond hockey. Watching them games always get me going.

This team and organization is stale.  It's needs a refresh, and no that doesn't mean tanking.  We need some fresh blood and we've already seen some of that with Mantha, AA, Sproul etc.. but we need a trade.  A good ole hockey trade or a couple of them where we move 3-4 guys out and get 3-4 new guys in.  This organization was getting stale in the last few year of Lids career and as much as I love Pavel he looked indifferent alot of nights where it seemed he would turn it on only when he had to ( which still made him better than 80% of the players in the league). This organization has been loyal to a fault and in the good times it's amazing but in the bad times it can look really bad on you.  I love Holland but it's no time to be complacent and loyal. Get off your hands, pick up the phone and change the culture.

I think Sheahan has got to be on the chopping block.  He just isn't bringing anything to the table right now.  I don't like to kick guys when they are down, but the players need to take some accountability too.

+/- is a bad stat to use, but your right Sheahan has been awful. He can go anytime whether it be via trade or just outright released.

I agree Sheahan is having a bad year, but on the right line I think he can be effective. I remember last year in the playoffs really liking him playing on the 4th line with Glendening and Abby. Much better then Miller or Ott.

I wouldn't be upset if we lost him though.

You gotta wonder what goes on in his head with the colossal failure of a performance this year. I'd probably be crapping myself. I don't think I've been this disappointed in a player since Aaron Ward.

I'm sure he's a great guy but 6 points and -14.. Oooof!
