Okay, I'll bite. Why would you put Rasmussen on the wing and not Veleno?

No reason, I thought maybe he was more adapted to winger than Veleno? Heck, if Veleno is a better one, then put him there. Either way.

I see the Griffs re-signed Spezia, Elson, Verbeek, and Shine

And also added forwards Kevin Lynch and Jon Martin

Patrick Curry still there

Shedding: Hicketts, Turgeon, and McIlrath, and a few other no names.

Filip Larsson is loaned again, this time to Sweden 2nd tier league
Albin Grewe is leaving the Griffs and going to Finland Liiga
Kirill Tyutyayev is sticking with the Griffs this year
Albert Johansson continuing his loan with Farjestad
Eemil Viro continuing his loan with TPS
Donovan Sebrango is not listed on the Griffs roster, so I assume returning to the OHL

So I guess the Griffins look like this:

Raymond - Pearson - Barber
Hirose - Criscuolo - Berggren
Tyutyayev - Elson - Martin
Verbeek - Spezia - Lynch
Shine/Curry

Renouf - Murphy
Lashoff - Witkowski
Mcisaac - Barton
Newpower

Pickard
Brattstrom
Fulcher

I heard on a Wings podcast that Sebrango is getting a waiver to stay with the Griffs.

Don't count out Veleno starting in Grand Rapids.

No, we released Hayden Verbeek. Seems like his AHL career is over. He'll sign in the ECHL or go to Europe. I think MTL just had to move a contract and he happened to be someone they didn't want and was also conveniently Pat Verbeek's nephew.

Only thing with Stephens is he has to pass through waivers. If we call up Veleno and Smith and waive Nielsen, there's room for Stephens. I think that's the way it will go.

Bertuzzi - Larkin - Vrana
Fabbri - Suter - Zadina
Names - Rasmussen - Erne
Smith - Veleno - Gagner
Stephens

If need be they can always send Veleno down to keep Nielsen on the roster and avoid waiving anyone.

Sending down Veleno to keep Nielson would be retarted.  If Nielson starts on the NHL roster and Veleno, Raymond and Berggren all start in Grand Rapids, I'll be boycotting this season and watching the Griffins instead.

I am not convinced that Yzerman is going to go with the current roster and just add the kids though. I see Bobby Ryan returning (unless he's announced retirement) and maybe there is some water to Anisimov getting a PTO? The ONLY kids out of waiver options is Smith, so if we give him roster spot, that only makes 12 FWD's. The usual number is 14. Like I said, I don't see Yzerman just giving 2 rosters spots to kids. Not that they wouldn't deserve the opportunity, but I just think Yzerman would opt for a couple of vets at this point. Maybe, MAYBE Veleno earns a spot, but I do beleive that there will be two vets here instead. There are a few names out there in the 27-35 year old range. He has expressed how he'd like a couple more RH'd shots. Ryan would be one, then there a few others.

Nikita Gusav - 28

Kyle Palmeri - 30

Alex Chiasson - 30

Tyler Bozak - 35

...just a couple of examples.

As a follow-up to my previous post, looks Nielson won't be a wing or a griffin to start the season.

I'm sure one or two guys will get PTOs just in case they have a bad camp.

Maybe Veleno, but not both.

#badtakes

Wheeler did a 2018 redraft today at The Athletic.

Zadina dropped to 11th.

Bergrren jumped into 18th from the second rd

Veleno was nowhere to be found. Didn't even make the 20 guys listed as honorable mentions after going 30OA in the original draft.

I think Wheeler made up for his shiddy prospect rankings with this list.

Anyway, 3rd line winger or 4C (if he can get his 200ft game in order). That's yer guy. Glad he's bulking up for the role.

Veleno:

- struggles in AHL

- struggles in SHL

- generally unhindered development path

- drafted 30OA in 2018

- slid outside the top 50 in redraft

- gonna make Wings this fall

Bergrren:

- kills SHL

- more bad luck as a prospect than Igor Grigorenko

- drafted 33rd in 2018

- rises to 18th in redraft

- not going to make the Wings this fall

The only way you're right is if Veleno is the Wings 4C to start  21-22 because Yzerman sees him as a 4C.

11th that's still too high.
