I'm REALLY liking Nate Danielson as the summer wears on. I think this kid is going to be a stud. I think he's about to completely run over the WHL and make his way to GR at the end of their season and not look out of place (Kinda like Mazur but at an earlier age). We got a good one here.

I forget, is he allowed to come up to the AHL for playoffs? Thought he has to go NHL or WHL. I just hope he gets traded to a better WHL team.

He's eligible for the AHL after his season in the WHL concludes from what I understand. He's about to drop 100 points in the WHL and then look really good in GR. Watch.

Really hoping Brandon trades him to Seattle. Tbirds are the powerhousse of the WHL right now.

They have about 5-6 really good players who are suddenly eligible for the AHL this year. I'm guessing the truly special ones will go (Lambert, Guenther, Schaefer) but the actual 2-3 older top scorers will stay.

Also Seattle didn't select until the 3rd round this year in the draft, but they also brought in a former 1st round pick and a former 2nd round pick via trade for cheap this summer. Then they unloaded Tij Iginla for a ransom (1st + other assets). Iginlas kid is still only 17/18 but he hasn't shown much promise yet. Really think the trading team bought the name. Hoping Seattle uses the extra assets to go after Danielson at the TDL. Brandon WILL be trading him.

Even if every AHL elibigle pplayer leavess the T-birds have a solid young core of Sawchyn (63 ovverraall) Myatovic (33) Korrchinski (7) - who has been cleaarly the best player on the teaam and iss going to be a force in the NHL one day, Im pisssed the hawks got him - and Allen (31).

Apart from all that noise, I am impressssed. He fasst. He take hit if he hass to. Drives the net all the time. Has some daangles in his back pocket. And he'ss a defenive Stalwart. Much like Kasssper and SSSSeider, he wass labeled a D sspeccialisst,, but you caan tell theress farrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr more to his game. Yzerman/Draper have been vvery good at identifying PRO D players who haavve more offense to unlock. Danny would expplode with Seattle or any of the top WHL teaaams

Between Danielson, Kasper, and Lombardi, our center position has started to look a lot stronger.  And one thing I forgot is that its not always the centers that have to make the wingers look good.  If we pick up Kane, we'd have Rasmussen, Kane, Debrincat, and Raymond in our top 6.  Thats a lot of skill upfront.  I'd like to see Yzerman exhaust our cap space on Kane as a tryout this year.  We have about 7 mil, so paying him 5-6 mil for 30-40 games would keep him where he's at money wise.  If he lights it up and is a great fit, re-sign him.  If it doesnt work out, adios.  If Kane still has 3-4 good years in him and we let the opportunity to use em pass for no reason, that would be a waste.

No thanks on Kane. I think we need a youngish power winger that can play at the top of the lineup. Someone who plays like Rasmussen, but with a little bit more offense. That's really my only quibble with the long term outlook of the roster. We've got top centers, defense, goalies, and a couple of higher end wings. I just want to see us get that power element. Maybe Ras gets there, and Kostin and Sodorblom still could, but I'd like to see a legit 20 goal/50 pts top line power guy.

The Tkachuks of the league are few and far between.  Kane is an elite scorer.  I would take him for a half a season and see if he fits.

Nobody is suggesting the Tkachuk brothers. I'd take Jake Debrusk (as an example). I don't like the idea of Kane for a few reasons:

One, he almost certainly doesn't want to play here so we'd have to pay A LOT to change his mind. Recall that the only trade he was willing to entertain out of Chicago was to NYC. That's it.

Two, at this point in his career he's probably not better than Debrincat, but is better than Raymond. So either you play all three of those midgets in the top six (and lose every board battle you have) or Raymond sees his ice time diminish...which is obviously not ideal for his development.

Three, it's not even like you could flip him at the deadline for quality draft picks. He was so picky about his landing spot last year that Chicago lost all leverage and only got conditional 2nd round pick and a 4th. He has less trade value than most rentals and he's not going to put us over the top and/or sign longer term...so what's the point?

If you're wanting a high(ish) end offensive guy who doesn't really play defense that well my pick would be Tommy Novak out of Nashville. I've had my eye on him for a while. Could be a sneaky good acquisition that would allow us to flex Copp to the wing so that he could be another power guy in the top six.

Youre acting like Kane has a no ufa clause that prevents him from ever having to play unfun hockey ever again.  Reality - his leverage is gone.  And I dont care who you are or what you say, money still talks.  If the rest of the playoff teams can only pay Kane 1 million for half a season, and we can pay him 6, he's going to sign with the Detroit Red Wings.  Whether he'd be a good fit is a different debate, but why not just remove the debate element?  Put him in a top 9 blend with Raymond, Debrincat, Perron, Larkin, Compher, Copp, Rasmussen, Kane, Berggren and see what happens.  Best case, he's born again hard and helps us to make the playoffs.  Worst case, he fizzles and gets paid way too much for 4 months of hockey.  Either way, the Wings dont have anything to lose except cap space and Ilitch's money.  Kane has everything to gain, so Im betting he tears it up so he can get paid and get term next offseason.

Kane specifically chose NYR, not because they were the best team,  but because that's where he wanted to play. He has 3 Cups, loads of money, and total flexibility. He's not signing anywhere he doesn't want to play. He's not Tomas Tatar, he can afford (both figuratively and literally)  to be selective. If he doesn't get the offer he wants he'll retire.

I'm wrong about things all the time, but it's fun to guess. Look, I'm not going to throw a fit if the Wings sign Kane. He's a legend and it would be fun. I just don't see it making sense is all.

I'm not opposed to signing Kane - he just doesn't fit into the Yzerplan. Anybody who comes here should be expected to sign a 1-2 year deal and then be traded - until further notice. Kane obviously wants to be comofrtable (not be in a crap city) and wants the chance to win (not us). I'm more looking at Tatar. Would love to bring him back and trade him again at the TDL.

Shut up with your Tatar jizz fest, already!  We arent taking on another Czech player.  Yzerman hates Czechs now.

Mastrosimone - taken in the 2nd round in the Seider draft by Yzerman - became a UFA today. After being drafted he did okayyyyy with Boston University, but transferred to Arizona State's program for his senior year, and did very well. Was their leading scorer in a brand new program.

Wings probably lost interest, and Mastro probably had been unsigned long enough that he would rather go the UFA route. So not a huge deal, but he may be getting an AHL deal here soon. Hopefully with the Griffins.

I'm a huge Sodabomb fan, I think he was thrust into the league too early, but I also understand why. He's unpolished and sloppy like any rookie, but he's so fuqqing big and confident that how do you not try him out?

Not sure the league has seen this combination of size and skill in some time.

He should start the year in GR - develop some consistent scoring - then he should be given a bottom 6 roll either later this year or next.
