On a more serious note - they NHL changed last year to top 2 and now you can only drop back a max of 2 spots.

I got nothing against Montreal, but I’d be upset if Chicago, Washington, Ottawa, Buffalo dropped down instead of Detroit.

The Wings have a 0.2% chance at the third overall pick. While there are only 2 lottery picks, there is a scenario where Detroit moves up to #3. That is if Ottawa wins the first lotto pick and Detroit wins the second. Ottawa can only move up 10 spots to 2nd. so in that case, Detroit would be bumped to 3rd, and Anaheim gets 1OA.
