Happy Friday morning coffee ramblings

Sucks that Daniel-San can't go to the AHL vs going back to junior. He didn't seem out of place in the games I saw through my red wings colored whiskey haze glasses.

Uncle Fester said Kasper is adjusting to NA ice size is he? Or is he a bust?

Lyon or Reimer who stays who goes or do they both stay? I assume neither will pass through waivers

Week away from the games meaning something

Have a great day and be safe out there.

Kasper had his entire knee cap blown off at the end of the season and missed a full summer of training. He'll be fine, but will need a half year in GR b4 hes ready to make the team, much like Edvid San.

Daniel San had all summer to jump around Daygoba with little Bedard on his back.

If I was SY i would go max chaos and waive both Reimer and Lyon. If neither get claimed cool. If one gets claimed, sign Hutchinson. If both get claimed idk, i didnt think that far ahead.

I like the Danielson pick. Still see some saying we shoulda taken Benson tho.

There's a certain segment of the hockey world that's always going to prefer a 5'10 winger with flashy skill to just about any other option. It rarely works, and most guys like that sink rather than swim, but that doesn't stop them from finding a new dude like that year after year. Conversely, 6'2, 200 lb. centermen with size and skating rarely miss. The fact that Danielson seems to be a really heady player that thinks the game really well only helps his case. I'd send him back to the WHL, let him dominate, call him up to the AHL/NHL after his season is over to get a cup of coffee, and then let him compete for an NHL job next season like Raymond did.

Oh there will be at least one azzzwhole

It was me. At the time of the pick I would have rather had Dvorsky. I wasn't losing any sleep over the choice, but I had other preferences besides Danielson...ASP as well. I thought of both guys as solid choices but had other preferences had I been the GM. I was clearly wrong on that one. These guys are both fantastic.

Admitting one was wrong but not worried is the first step in the process to enlightenment....

8 more on waivers today.

Czarnik, Gettinger, Hirose, Lethemon, McIsaac, Newpower, Rafferty, Stevens

Nate is still there. Does anyone know if the PTO's are still there? I didn't see any releases, but maybe I missed it.

Saw this

DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings today assigned forwards Alexandre Doucet, Marco Kasper and Amadeus Lombardi, defensemen Albert Johansson, Antti Tuomisto, Eemil Viro and William Wallinder, and goaltender Sebastian Cossa to the American Hockey League’s Grand Rapids Griffins. Additionally, the Red Wings released forwards Joel L’Esperance, Riley Sawchuk, Dominik Shine and Tyler Spezia, defenseman Josiah Didier, and goaltender Michael Hutchinson from their professional tryouts.

The Red Wings currently have 37 players on their training camp roster: 22 forwards, 11 defensemen and four goaltenders. Currently at 4-2-1 through seven preseason games, Detroit concludes its preseason schedule with a home game against the Toronto Maple Leafs tomorrow (Saturday, Oct. 7) at 7:00 p.m. at Little Caesars Arena. The game will air on Bally Sports Detroit.

Your list is 29 vs what that article said so I have more faith in your number BA

    18 Forwards

      8 Defense

      3 Goalies

Need to drop 6 ....

To GR goes

    Soderblom, Mazur, Hanas, Luff, Edvinson

To the Juniors sadly

    Daniel-san

           OR

To GR goes

Soderblom, Mazur, Hanas, Luff, Edvinson, Lyon

and Daniel-San needs to find an apartment in Motown

There's probably still invitees on the roster, but those are pretty irrelevant so i didnt bother

Send down: Luff, Hanas, Mazur, Soderblom, Edvinsson, and Lyon.

Then play Danny San for MORE than 9 games so we can burn off a year of ELC and get him locked up faster b4 he goes full jesus christ superstar

So we all agree that Nate Danielson is absolutely awesome right? Like, is anyone out there not liking that pick?

I am torn as to what to do with him. AHL is not an option, which sucks, as it is his best option imo. There is no point in sending him down to the CHL as he has already developed beyond that league. Keeping in the NHL could harm his development if he isnt yet ready for that level of competition. I am glad I don't have to make that decision.

Keep The Carly Sniper on the roster!

See if Reimer would waive his NTC to go to Tampa. Keep Lyon. Go with 7 D.

Lyon is a 30 year old journeyman goaltender who has spent most of his career in the minors. He isn't the answer to our goaltending.

Can they just keep him up until he hits a certain age then send him to GR. Isn't that what happened to Rasmussen?

DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings today assigned forwards Jonatan Berggren, Cross Hanas and Elmer Soderblom and defenseman Simon Edvinsson to the American Hockey League’s Grand Rapids Griffins. Additionally, the Red Wings have assigned forward Nate Danielson to the Western Hockey League’s Brandon Wheat Kings. Detroit has also designated forwards Matt Luff and Carter Mazur as injured non-roster.

They must really feel they'd lose Lyon. Maybe protecting a G to use in a trade with Tampa?

I'm really not a fan of how we've gummed up the roster with middling overpaid vets who's contracts (not play) blocks Berg, Elmer, and Simon.

This is my first major disagreement with the Yzerplan.

Berggren is the only player who maybe ready and wrongly sent down. He'll probably be called up at the first injury.

With Aston-Reese in the fold, the Wings assigned forwards Jonatan Berggren, Cross Hanas and Elmer Soderblom and defenseman Simon Edvinsson to the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins. Additionally, the Wings have assigned forward Nate Danielson to his junior team, Brandon Wheat Kings (WHL). Detroit has also designated forwards Matt Luff and Carter Mazur as injured non-roster.

So guessing better to sit Reese then Bear-grin. Might be a good year for the Griffins

Griffins were already stacked without John Bergers.

I'm thinking Reese will be the first call up.

Looks like ZAR was waived, but not sent down. Probably a strategic move to get him to clear while there are so many waivers going on. Looks like hes the designated scratch to keep the kids down in GR.

Where are all my Eddogs who told me all last week he would be making the team?? Yall at home still huffing paint thinner?
