Larry Murphy was a Penguin. Luc Robitaille was a Penguin. Should we hate those guys too?

    Teams considering buy-outs

I'll take Ethan Moreau on this team, I don't tihnk he has a cup(?), very physical, warrior type player and could be the perfect Dallas Drake for next season.

    2010 NHL Draft Thread

I think you getting bored is definitely the first thing Kenny thinks before drafting a player.

Hate the guy, but he would easily be one of my favorites if he played for the Wings.

What happened to Cheechoo? Thornton made him about 40 goals better than he really was...

Just further proof how insecure the Hawks "fans" are about their team...still. Pretty pathetic when your team just won their first Cup since the 60's and all you seem to care about is how Wings fans feel about it.

What do you think about making a pitch for Afinogenov? I don't think he will command to much money. I think he'd be a solid pick up for the Redwings 3rd line. Maybe see some 2nd line minutes if he proves he can play and step his game up (after recent slumps with Buffalo and Atlanta). A one-two year deal wouldn't be so mad in my opinion. What do you guys and gals all think about this? Link: http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/atl100614.html

HAHA ok Pronger may be one of the most hated players ever but he is so damn entertaining and he has some actual wit. The minors comment is great. Although Burrish will probably find a place somewhere.

I completely agree with this. I think his play for the U.S. showed that when Rafalski is relied on heavily, he thrives. He almost respects Lidstrom TOO much and worries about getting the puck to him more. It also likely gets him into a mindset where he can screw up and Lids will be there to make-up for it anyway. I agree on the Lids-Kronwall and Stuart-Rafalski pairings 100%.

I guess it depends on your definition of shake up. I believe Ken is the kind of GM who would never move one of his players once he has identified them as part of his core. Cleary doesn't fall into that group, but Flip and Kronwall certainly do. Even if he ever does decide to make some moves, I doubt it would happen next year. Lidstrom will most likely retire, and whoever he brings in as his replacement will be all the shaking we will see for a while. Speaking of which, Weber, Doughty, Seabrook, Johnson, Schenn and Yandle will all be RFAs next year, and Markov and Chara will be UFAs. If Kenny were to pull off one of those promising RFAs with an offer sheet, I think that would be one of the most impressive things he has accomplished in his time as GM.

    Afinogenov rejects Thrashers' offer

I have never been a huge fan of him. He seemed to acquire the 'lazy' tag on himself in Buffalo.

The problem with Raffi are his turnovers and lack of size for his price tag - not saying I agree, I'm just saying I can see where some of the negativity comes from... with that said, I think he is GREAT for what he does, as you stated, and I really think both he and Lids would benefit GREATLY by splitting them up and putting a physical counterpart with them, not to mention, I thought Stuart and Rafalski complemented one another VERY well.... The Curse of Marian Hossa

If the guy requires long periods of rest in order to perform well then maybe he should have stayed in Atlanta. My entire point was that people continue to make excuses for Hossa not showing up on the scoresheet, but the fact remains that he flat out did not. That is something you have to look for when signing players.

But it isn't just this playoff that he sucked. It is damn near every year. His CAREER points/game regular season 770/832 = 0.925 playoffs 91/120 = 0.758 This is a HUGE difference No excuses of being injured can explain away 10 years of poor playoff production. Now we have the curse of Ville Leino. 2 SCF losses in a year playing for 2 different teams.... Can he make it 3?

    The Curse of Marian Hossa

Exactly. For $7.9 Mill, I bet the Hawks were hoping for more than 3 goals out of him. Luckily they had enough talent to make up for it. I'm sure they were hoping he'd be top 5 on the team in points and goals in the playoffs. He was neither.

Not to be argumentative but I don't think that Pronger has much higher education under his belt. Either way the guy is better on his toes with media responses than Burish is apparently... http://watch.tsn.ca/nhl/clip312491#clip312491 I like Pronger a teensy bit more after those quips.

I meant he was a stupid idiot in terms of his ice play and his whacked out past incidents. Apparently not good enough. Oh well.
  22. 1 point
Well then that's your problem. He's one of the most hated guys in the league so people are going to hate on him no matter how much he's a "nice guy" off the ice. He was well hated by plenty of people well before Adam Burish said this.

The whole Chicago chanting "Detroit Sucks" all the time makes me think of the "rivalry" between brothers. The older one is obviously better and has done more with his life, and the smaller one is incredibly envious and tries to be like him. Meanwhile the younger brother thinks they're rivals and insults his brother behind his back all the time. Of course the older brother has no clue that they're supposed to be rivals, and just goes on with his life.

    The Curse of Marian Hossa

Hossa might be a nice guy and all - but after his no-show act in the finals three years in a row - can't say he deserves to win it. You can bank he'll be invisible now for the next 11 years as well.... Then again there are probably alot of guys that are much bigger dicks that have their name on their - I can think of a few. Might make a good off season topic...
