Looks like someone is trying to stir things up. It really takes some big hairy ones to put Doughty and Keith before Nick. I admit that he isn't what he used to be but he never makes the mistake of rushing when he shouldn't (Doughty) or trying to out muscle a winger and then gets beaten cleanly to the outside (Keith). What? How is the guy potentially going to be our third line center even remotely close to Downey signing for a frickin tryout? While I have no problem with Downey, it's absurd to believe he would contribute more to the Red Wings success next season than Mike Modano would. That also means Downey would have to make the team and jump an abundance of far better forwards to even crack the line-up. -

Did I now? Eh. I agree, but in general there has not been as much grit going around. How many power forwards could you think of in the 90s? Now how many power forwards are there? Although there are still teams that keep that grit all around in the system, not as much of it is going around which could be attributed to the greater focus on European players than years past. Perhaps not. Understood. Very well then. -

The New Jersey Devils are now interested in signing Mike Modano. Lou Lamoriello has offered a 17 year deal worth $20 million. Modano gets 1 million a year for the first 16 years and then when he turns 57 he gets 4 million. -

Indeed. Business is business, but the guy has Aunts and Uncles that he hasn't heard from yet. On the other hand, it would be nice if he were bought out, as I would not be at all surprised if he went down to Haiti to help, he's always been that kind of guy. He's a stund-up guy and you frequently see his face in NHL commercials that highlight players working with kids or helping people in need. -

This is moronic. What did Gainey expect he was getting when he signed Laraque? I don't see how George is playing outside he normal style or capability. Honestly this is just asinine. Let the man play out the rest of the season or trade him. Don't tell him you're sitting him for the rest of the year and buying his contract out at season's end. Ridiculous. -
