    Detroit Fans Have Turned Ugly

Seems LGW didn't get the memo: We have a two game losing streak and posters here are cashing in all their chips.

    Draper or Hudler?

So you're deeply attached to both and don't want to lose either? poor analogy...

Unlikely. At minimum, it will go to the "unofficial" status where #2, #6, #16, and #91 currently reside.

What a career, I can't believe it really, no more #30. With that awesome stance, as the camera caught him skating around his crease with shoulders slanted one side almost slightly. Head down, looking intently. Going over the game in his head. Osgood thank you for all the memories. I'm truly a little tearful this day is here. We love you. We will never forget what memories you have given us Red Wings fans. We know you ignored the off-ice nonsense, and bled Detroit red all your career. Thank you Ozzie!!

Yes, I did 1+ this post as you tell it how it is.... Preach it brotha SWF!

That's how I feel about it. Watching tribute videos today was like watching childhood memories. A lot of my favorite memories growing up were being with my family and going nuts over the Wings. When these players retire, it's as much about those times as anything. Thanks for a lot of great memories.

It's hard watching so many players from those 90s teams that made me fall in love with hockey go. Thanks for the memories, Ozzie.

Thanks Ozzie. You're the f***in' man (I've been trying, but I really need the profanity here ). The fact that all the guys that have been on the team since I started really following hockey are retiring is really making me feel old.

Thanks Ozzie for all your heart and soul you gave the team and the fans and for giving us many great memories. Enjoy retirement and hope to see ya in the HHOF!

Damn, I'll miss having Ozzie in the net. This is a guy who was so loyal to the Wings he was willing to turn down offers to be a starter for other teams to come back to Detroit for no guarantees other than to be a backup at best. If that kind of loyalty isn't rewarded with some kind of big Chris Osgood Night, it'll be a travesty, but I'm not worried, the organization will definitely do what's right by him. Can't wait for his HOF induction in a few years.

Oh man. Thank you so much for everything, Ozzie. You had one hell of a career. I hope I see you up in the rafters next to Stevie soon. <3

    And they wouldn't take Hudler?

Wow the amount of cynicism in the Wings fan base is amazing. At the beginning of this thread, almost everybody was bashing him for coming back. Now that he's retiring its all, "Amazing career! Thanks for everything!" No wonder goalies have it rough here. Jeez. Well, I have always liked Ozzie and was upset when he was let go. Glad to see he went out as one of the top 10 goalies of all time! HHOF is where he belongs and to be honest... I think the #30 belongs up next to #19. He has been a corner stone in 3 of 4 cups, and almost got us another in '09. As a Wing he has outdone almost every goaltender that has came and gone. I can't wait to see what he does next and will miss him dearly. Congrats on an outstanding career Ozzie. :siren:

Thanks Ozzie, Not the fastest, not the most technical, not the biggest but worked his ass of and had one of the most underrated careers ever.

Just wanted to say congrats to Ozzy for a great career. He gave us many great memories, some bad and some good. May he find happiness and fulfillment in everything he does.

right. like you couldn't possibly have predicted the reaction you got from your post. It's a thread about a long-time Red Wing player retiring, and you posted about how happy it made you. You were trolling and it worked. Congrats.

Just perfectly stated. If you (as in you in general, not you specficially VM) wanted him to retire because of the health angle or because if you thought it was finally time, cool. It was going to happen much sooner than later. But to possibly kick him to the curb in a bi-polar manner like you say or be celebrating with fireworks that he retired because of the bi-polarness or if you might not like him, if you are one of those people and I saw you face-to-face right now, I'd probably knock you upside the head. As much as I love the Wings I absolutely cannot stand how, generally speaking, a lot of them just s**t on goalies in a beyond obsessive manner. And Osgood didn't make one possible stink about the fans here. Didn't cause a scene and the like when they chose Hasek over him and he had to go elsewhere temporarily (and he could have easily done so which I wouldn't have blamed him because I guarantee it probably hurt him that his days in Detroit then were numbered). Didn't cause a stink with not being a full-time starter or backup his past few seasons here. He just wanted to play for the Wings. As ultimate a team player as you'll find in recent memory.

As much as anyone ever was, Chris Osgood is The Consummate Red Wing. Anyone that can remember all the time he put in with this organization, through the highs and lows, especially winning Cups, and especially after being dumped and coming back undeterred and winning another, knows what this guy means to the Winged Wheel. Farewell and bon voyage, old buddy.

You can be happy the organization is moving on with perhaps a healthier option, if that is indeed what is truly happening, without being a d**khead.

Well this news went from exciting to a huge bummer real fast. If so, thanks for everything Ozzie. You are easily my favorite goalie ever and we should all be thankful for his loyalty and dedication to the Red Wings organization. I've never seen a more under-appreciated athlete and all he did was win cups and play his heart out for this team. You will be sorely missed Oz.
