    Swiss League Topscorer Damien Brunner

I'd totally agree with this statement if Omark were a known commodity. The problem here is that you're aren't bringing in depth, you're taking a chance on a reclamation project when the spot that you're giving him could go to...bringing in more depth. If it were a situation in which we were pondering signing a guy with (hypothetically) Patrick Eaves or Drew Miller's resume I'd be all for it. But Omark, for all his skill, can't even boast that, so if we're interested in bringing in more depth then we should look for guys that give us that, rather than take a chance on a guy who's already washed out of the NHL.

Speaking of crying..... Which player will be crying this week to the media. Poor NHLPA and poor Fehr. They are just innocent bystanders in all of this. The Devil wears an NHL Logo. When will the players wake up and finally see that Fehr is just playing a game with all of their money? They are all getting screwed.

Plzzzzz say no to Omark. There's a reason Edmonton, yes EDMONTON, demoted him. He brings nothing to the table. Shows a flash of brilliance then skates around picking his nose for 20 straight games. Omark is doing well because of Diaz, Brunner, and Z, not the opposite.

I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened.

Hence my guess of 12:01 a.m. 12/21/12. Now that I think of it, maybe I should have gone with 11:59 p.m. 12/20/12. They sign to give us false hope. Oh, well. My guess is in. I'll just have to live with it. Not that it matters, the reptilians will just destroy the prize anyway. They're all Avs fans.

I'm more optimistic than I've been this entire lock out. No more bs, just get a deal done this week.

Everything is under control. Situation normal. Uh, we had a slight weapons malfunction. But, uh, everything's perfectly alright now. We're fine. We're all fine here now, thank you. How are you? Great fear I sense in me. I have a bad feeling about this.

Nov 30, 2012 @ 11:58pm EST I'll add, the next lockout will happen September 16, 2018 @ 12:00am EST, when the owners try and get the players down to 45%

There's absolutely nothing funny about the lockout. But all these posts are a totally different story.

In all honesty though, i'm really happy to see him and Z making something of their line. He has the potential to be our go to man when we need a shooter, and he drives the center of the ice. If you watch nearly any of his replays, the boy cuts into the middle and goes straight for the slot to release a shot on net. I love it, and quite frankly any Wing fan should love it. It's what we're missing currently, inwhich that's someone who is willing to drive to the net. Unfortunately, we're unable to see if this translates into the North American game where physicality is much more prominent. I would've loved for him to be spending this time in Grand Rapids to actually develop a sense of space when dealing with smaller ice sizes. I truly believe he'll make a impact in our game though, and certainly be someone to makes some noise. He's got a great mentor by his side, and the chemistry will already be built by the time this gonger is over with.

It's going to be today, I would think. The tough part of this is as that as much as a win the "trap" 50/50 proposal was for the owners from a P.R. standpoint, somebody with the NHL now has to stand up and explain that they're cancelling this game. While people understand that this is a negotiation and both sides are at fault, there's still the mental association that the league decides its lockout is more important than this extremely popular and ridiculously anticipated event. And it's not just the event, it's like the cancellation of a TV mini-series with the HBO 24/7 angle, as well. This sucks. I've talked to casual sports fans who didn't even know there was a lockout two weeks into the season. I don't think you can even measure the damage of taking this event off of TV on January 1st, just when it was getting to the point where it was an annual event people might have looked for.

You win, apparently if you say something enough it makes it true. Just out of curiousity, can you find even one other source that says he doesn't have incredible speed? Didn't think so. Edit: Hey what do you know, here's an article where the guy's coach actually says "lightening fast" when describing Brunner. Granted, you've seen a few of his highlights and so you'd probably disagree, but I suppose just this once I'll go with the guy that knows what he's talking about. http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/nhl/story/2012/10/31/sp-hockey-nhl-henrik-zetterberg-damien-brunner-ev-zug-swiss-league-detroit-red-wings.html

Well he is playing in the same league as Nash, Thornton, Spezza, Seguin, and Tavares, and he's out playing all of them.....and Zug isn't even a good team, yet he still out plays them. We'll see how the season comes along. Gives me some hope though. There's a reason this guy was pursued by a bunch of different teams.
  19. 1 point
Actually by all accounts he's got Helm like speed, so yes, he is lightening fast. High end speed references: here...http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1232733-detroit-red-wings-get-to-know-new-red-wing-damien-brunner and here...http://detroit.sbnation.com/detroit-red-wings/2012/6/22/3110401/damien-brunner-red-wings-rumors and here...http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2012/07/red_wings_sign_damien_brunner.html and here...http://www.redwingscentral.com/prospects/damien-brunner/ Of course none of this means he'll score 30, or even 20 goals. But in an effort to be contradictory, or simply out of sheer negligence, you've made a statement that is by every account demonstrably false.

Not to mention if Brunner scores 25-30 goals they will need to re-sign him too! They can sign Dekeyser and either trade Kindl or let him go RFA... agreed on the other points, they really cannot let White go after losing Rafalski, Lidstrom and Stuart...not unless the somehow acquire a stud via the fire sale.... Trade Emmy and Mursak....they have Miller and a soon to be returning Eaves...I'd also let Cleary go or trade him at the deadline (his NTC expired last deadline.) There are too many folks waiting to come up and they are running out of options to play in Rapids... (sure wish Holland would have offer a contract to Welsh...Carolina is damn lucky to have him!)

The Wild have 21% of their cap space tied up with Parise and Suter for a very long time. The Wings have 16% of their cap space tied up with their top forward and top D-man (Datysuk and Kronwall) The Wings have 18% of their cap space tied up with their top 2 overall players (Datsyuk and Zetterberg) I'd also refer to the OP's points per dollar section of his article. If the only goal of the off-season was to sign Suter and Parise, then yes we failed on both accounts. However, if one of our goals was also to "spend our money wisely" then we succeeded where the Wild failed. Datsyuk at 6.7 > Parise at 7.5 Zetterberg at 6 > Parise at 7.5 Kronwall at 4.75 > Suter at 7.5 We don't overpay for FA's when we can wait and develop our home grown talent and put them on reasonable contracts. Build through the draft.

    Ryan Suter pissed off

That's what he gets for choosing a not-so-good team for more money over a team that many hold in the highest regard.
