Ah damn. Good game overall. That was a dog fight. I gotta hand it to the refs - they kept the flow going nicely - wish more games were officiated like that.

Yes, we can trade Andersson and keep the rest. Have you watched Sheahan play this year? He's a great 200 foot player that is big, hits, is gritty and can chip in with offence and is really good on the PK. He's a bottom 6 guy that you keep for sure.

Jurco - Z - Nyqust Kronwall - Smith Very simple Babcock. Your best players play with the best players on the PP. Basically neutralizing 2 PP units by playing Cleary and Sammy on one.

Babs was probably so excited he sewed it on himself.

We can't buy a goal. Lull the opposition into a false sense of security, then BAM! JURCO. Love Jurco.

The whole things turning the outdoor games and the league into a big joke. Volleyball? A KISS CONCERT? Why not bring in the elephants and lions and have a full blown circus? Maybe Sigfried n Roy are free that weekend and can come put on a show. Give Wayne Newton a call while youre at it Gary. This is the NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE. Not Billy Madison's birthday party. ******* clown shoes.

I do not even remember the last time Detroit gave up nearly 50 shots on goal. It certainly is a different era. It is like the bizzaro Detroit Red Wings out there. Mediocre all the way around (except Jimmy tonight). I am really starting to think it is time for a shakeup in management from GM to Head Coach, especially if they are disqualified from the Stanley Cup playoffs. The complacency is really disturbing. Night after night we hear the same excuses yet see the same results. This is everything but Detroit Red Wings hockey. Since when did Atlanta Thrashers style hockey become acceptable all of a sudden?

Microcosm of the season right there.

Possibly. Really though you can move these parts around and it essentially won't matter. The Wings have one scoring line, maybe a third line and two fourth lines out there tonight. They just desperately need healthy bodies back very soon. The team hasn't really played poorly lately, but obviously tough to score goals with no top-six.

As much as I'd like to see Glendening get one, I'll call Jurco for the GWG.

Yeah it's hard to point at anyone on this team and say "he needs to be better". We quite simply need Howard to play out of his mind and to get some luck offensively to have a chance at winning a game with this lineup. We've been getting the former lately, but we need the latter as well.

Agreed. I think it helps that we're so ludicrously close to each other in the standings. And I do think Jimmy wants to outplay The King in New York.

I agree with this. Riley has 4 points in 5 games, and is playing great two way game. He is a huge piece to our bottom 6, and it better than majority of them.

It's the skill, but he also works his ass off. And you can tell he sees the ice exceptionally well.

Cleary with an A on his jersey.... We need our scorers back.

Worst job ever: Kyle Quincey's agent. There's no way he deserves an NHL contract next summer.

I can only attribute these injuries to players having to play "up" to a level/line they are not accustomed to and getting injured? Helm was 2C and got injured (normally 3C). Same with Andersson. Alfie was being leaned on heavily. Deke was expected to be a No.3. Ericsson a top pairing dman. And these guys just aren't built for that kind of gameplay.

Its nice to think of them all progressing to be top NHL playoffs but odds are one maybe two of who you listed become impact players. Even Mrazek who has shot from junior to NHL quicker than any wings prospect recently is no sure bet. Steve Mason sure looked good when he was Mrazeks age and look what happened. Sheahan will be nothing more than a 3rd line grinder at best. Those years at ND really stalled his offensive progression. For being a 1st round pick his development has been a bust. Pulk and Jarnkrok look good but the NHL is a whole different world. Look at Nyquist. He was tearing up the AHL the last two years. He was supposed to be the offensive savoir this year. He had 3 good games and has since been really slumping. So while I agree that the prospects you listed are enticing (save for Sheahan) the realistic view is we would be lucky if even 2 become impact players that "save" a franchise from rebuilding years.

None of these guys has yet played a full season in the NHL, so how about waiting before we overhype them ? There is definately some potential but at the end of the day. I think, they are going to help fo sure but how much well the jury is still out on that. The biggest hurdles will be replacing Pasha and Z either through UFA or draft
