I will start off by saying I absolutely hate the Leafs, but the media in Toronto is absolutely a disgrace. Two coaches have been fired, mind you Wilson was not that good but when does the organization look at the culture and makeup of the team? I mean signing Phaneuf last year to that contract has destroyed that franchise right now. 7 million / 8 years for him is not good. Gardiner looks terrible, they should have sold high on him. Kadri is a decent 2nd line center, but not a top end talent / shutdown guy, and he disappears alot. Lupul never plays, he's always injured. They have Clarkson at 5.5 million doing nothing. Phil Kessel is absolutely blamed for everything that goes wrong by the fans and media, yet he is paid to score goals and that's exactly what he does. Kessel is a PPG player, sure might not be the best defensively but that's where others need to pickup and help him. JVR is not good defensively, and isn't close to as good on offense as Kessel but he never hears anything. Kessel is always being called "out of shape" or "doesn't compete enough" but people forget, he is a PPG player, and he plays in thef****** NHL! How can you not compete enough and be out of shape when you score 35+ goals a year, and score at a PPG every year in the NHL! Would love to see him play with Hank or Datsyuk, he might push 45+ and he's an underrated passer. This video is absolutely ridiculous. What a dumb question, and an insult.

I didn't think he still played for us. I heard the locker room received a new coffee machine and assumed he was traded.

That's why Helm deserves no part of playing on a line with Pav. Get Tatar there instead.

Absolutely. Guys like Quincey and Ericsson need to keep their game simple. That's when they're most effective. Same as a lot of our grinding forwards. Simple Simple Simple.

I think you guys are extrapolating an awful lot from a single quote by Quincey. Especially because it was in the context of him and Dekeyser as a pairing, which makes sense. Kindl is a great example. He nearly singlehandedly cost the Wings a game, but still would be in the lineup were it not for his injury. I don't understand some of Babcock's decisions, but I haven't seen a lot of evidence that a couple gaffes gets you sent to the pressbox.

Sure he wasn't just talking about his role and DeKeyser's role as a blueline tandem? That would make sense.

But Detroit's numbers are better in nearly every major team catergory: GA, PP%, PK%, Shot attempts allowed, faceoff wins, etc. Unless those numbers turn, the wins have to start coming again soon. Plus the 3 OT/SO loses have helped open up the lead over the Leafs by 3 points. Anytime you can do that in a 10 game stretch, you're doing OK.

It's a shame we never got to see the power forward Bertuzzi during his stints in Detroit. He spent so many years as a Wing, but my whole memory of him is very forgettable in a Wings uniform. The team didn't win anything either.

Well, if the Penguins' late 1st rounder + Colonel Klink can get them Perron, I'd like to think the Wings' higher 1st rounder + Ouellet + Kindl + Andersson could get them a legit top four blueliner. Problem is, that package is good enough to land the type of D-man that most teams won't want to part with.
