If Kenny is giving up Mantha and a 1st can't he do better than Phaneuf? I hope so.

"Reporter" asks, " Would you be willing to trade the 1st or maybe a player like Mantha? " 'source' says, " Look, if someone wants to blow us away with an offer then of course I would consider it, I'm not doing my job otherwise. " "Reporter" prints, " Wings open to moving 1st/Mantha. " Fans use whatever scrap of evidence to support their personal feelings and the sun sets.

Cox is really not a reliable source. Would like to see a better source report this, like MacKenzie first.

THIS IS ALL JUST DUMB MEDIA HYPE

I still believe Mantha gets this season to see what he can do with a full training camp and being healthy. I can't see Kenny giving up on him already.

Looks like Granato is coming back! Damien Cox ‏@DamoSpin 12m12 minutes ago After talking to BUFF and TOR, Tony Granato expected to return to DET as an assistant coach.

manthas not a bust yet. This is just media drumming up stories

None of those posters would disagree with your description of those players. It just so happens that the standards in Detroit for retiring numbers is higher.

Who cares? This is a discussion board. And we are discussing the possibilities. If you think it is a waste of time to talk about it, then don't.

It's also been on CBC. No. We are just reasonable and can accept giving him up if it addresses a team need, like a top pairing Dman.

Everyone's just willing to give up on him cause he didn't score 50 goals in 50 games .... We need to see him play a full season next year before trading him off

Cox is a TERRIBLE source. So most likely you can forget all this, bc kennys not going to do anything.

A first and mantha for Phaneuf and his 7 million cap hit even now we'd get f***ed I don't pay attention to anything damian cox says .... And for everyone who's thinking mantha is a bust bnd is willing to part with him should really thank twice .... Mantha came in missing camp and a bunch of games, it's wayyyyyyyyyyyy to soon to say he's a bust and be ok with trading a big man who can shoot It's just ridiculous

Agreed. I hate the Hawks. But I give them full credit. You don't win 3 Cups in 6 years by being just lucky.

Your hate of chicago is pathetic

Exactly. What's that song by The Smiths? "Bigmouth Strikes Again".

Damien Cox ‏@DamoSpin 2m2 minutes ago The proposed deal, btw, was Phaneuf for Weiss, Smith and Mantha. DET didn't want to surrender Mantha at that time.

I still think Mantha pans out. Too much upside. But Larkin's evolution might end up being a godsend for the Wings.

Sharp with an empty net goal at 6:11 in the 1st period.

He sucks as a hockey player. The Detroit Red Wings are a hockey team, get the f*** off the team already...

Larkin would have been a top 5 pick at the draft if NHL GMs had crystal balls. So awesome.

Fedorov was the better complete player. Better shooter, better goal scorer, better on ice vision, Fedorov was also the second fastest skater in the world for a while. (Fastest imo since he should have won by technicality at the al star game). So yeah, Feds better overall, by a long shot. Datsyuk has the better hands and possibly better pick pocketer.Feds could also play every position unlike Datsyuk. I think on our current roster the only player who has played each corner is Zetterberg. Z consistently plays center and left wing. On occasion plays right wing and often times he plays on either left or right corners of blue line during the powerplays. Feds was sort of like that too under Bowman. Dats plays center and on rare occasions left wing.

I feel like Jurco has the skill size and speed, that'd I'd b fine paying him contracts based on production for years to come, even if he doesn't score crazy amounts (but scores enough where his contract is viable) I'd be happy with it. He's the kind of player that could break out tomorrow, or at 26. Either way I want him on my team, he has all the skills.
