This is a typical response of a Howard hater. Thank you for proving my point. You have absolutely no grasp of how much bias you spew out unfortunately. You want Howard to back down and let Mrazek gets starts even though he's the superior goalie? What kind of logic is that? People who do well are rewarded in this world period. No one is going to do any favors for your boy Mrazek. You actually think this world works that way? Sorry to burst your bubble and fantasy land way of thinking. People strive to be the best and expect rewards not punishment. A backup is a backup. Get over it dude.

SoI was watching the NHL INsiders on TSN and they seem to think that Green will be THE hot commodity at the deadline. LeBrun said teams will be lining up to pay for his services, Tampa being one of them willing to pay up for him! I smell a 1st AND a prospect coming our way! How about a 1st and Cal Foote or maybe Alex Volkov? I can imagine a line of Svech Svech and Volkov! Lil Svech is a RW/C! Of course I'd rather draft D with our 1st. Also they say the price for Kane will be at least 4 assets including a 1st and an NHL player. Pitt interested but may not want to pay the hefty price, BUT are desparatley looking to acquire a scoring winger! Nyquist or Tatar anyone? Won'tcost 4 assets that is for sure! Pick/prospect is about it I believe!

Wtf are you talking about? Go look at the last 7 starts Howard had. Do you even look stuff up before you start spewing out stuff? Howards played really well. So why the hell should he not be starting? His Sv% in his last 7 starts is averaging 94%. That's one of the best in the league right now. @ PIT 1 0 1 0 0 36 4 .889 0 59:55 Jan 5 vs FLA 1 1 0 0 0 40 2 .950 0 59:58 Jan 3 vs OTT 1 1 0 0 0 34 1 .971 0 60:06 Dec 31 vs PIT 1 1 0 0 0 38 1 .974 0 60:00 Dec 29 vs NYR 1 1 0 0 0 39 2 .949 0 65:00 Dec 27 @ NJD 1 0 1 0 0 31 2 .935 0 59:00 Dec 23 @ BOS 1 0 1 0 0 25 2 .920 0 The way you guys talk, you make Jeff Blashill sound like Albert Einstein with his decision making. Christ the amount of intelligence on this forum is marvelous. Jimmy Howard is the better goalie period. He's the starter of this team period. He's played excellent in his last 7 starts period. Quit being in denial. Mrazek sucks. Just because he got 1 good game doesn't mean you somehow turn him into a starter and reward him with double starts. That makes zero sense and is the dumbest coaching strategy I've heard to date. Even if Howard does poorly tonight, he should still start the next game because that would just be one bad game out of the last 8 he's played. Sometimes I feel embarrassed at the level of intelligence the Red Wings fan base carries. I go to the Hawks forums and at least they have fans who can admit Jonathan Toews is overrated. I come here and we have people who want Mrazek starting consecutively even tho Howard is clearly better. We're getting worse than Montreal fans.

I get it but I doubt Mrazek all of a sudden brings us a huge return anyways. Put it this way, him playing lights out this next month before deadline does not make his crap performance the last 2 years go away. Get what I'm saying?

What part of "the Red Wings still think they can make the playoffs" do you not understand? I feel like you think the Red Wings should revolve around Petr Mrazek. They don't. Theoretically they can still make the playoffs by the way. Aren't you a Wings fan? Or are you that consumed by Mrazek..?

Are you not smart enough to understand the concept of a backup goalie? Generally when backups play a game, it's to give a starter a break. Once they've played the game, the starter starts the next one. Mrazek is a backup FYI. The Red Wings have been dead clear about it. It's just people like you are having a hard time understanding the simple concept. (or maybe in denial about it) Manny Legacy gets a shutout in 2001. Dominic Hasek still plays the next game. You know.. because Legacy was Hasek's backup.... Same goes for all the other backups in the history of hockey.

End of 1st. Stars lead 2-1. Stars are bigger, faster, more skilled, better coached. And they have Wings-killer Ben Bishop in net. Other than that, this is a pretty even matchup.

Bouchard keeps climbing the ranks. I'd love to land him if we end up outside the top 5. Surprised to see Merkley drop so far back.

Too be fair, they'll never win a cup with Mrazek either. I haven't been a fan as long as you, but there's never a time I will root for my team to lose.

Screw Mrazek and his feelings. Clearly the franchise doesn't give a s*** about him and is going with the better goalie for now. Only you and a few other minority actually give a damn about Mrazek and you are having a hard time moving on. Truth hurts, get over it man. He's a backup, for all we know they might not even want to trade him and keep him around as long as they want until Jimmy hits the bucket. He's an employee nothing more. Tell me, how long until you get over the idea that Mrazek is not going to have any favors done for him? Serious question.

People get too caught up in putting players in a box. This guy is a "middle 6 forward." "That guy is a checking line player." It all depends on how lines are structured and who works well with whom. Some guys love having a McCarty/Abdelkader/Homer type on their line, other guys would rather play with two skill players. McCarty wasn't a skilled player by any means, but he spent a lot of time on scoring lines when he wasn't with Draper and Maltby. With the right linemates and in the right system, Abdelkader can be useful on a scoring line, but he'd be good in a checking role too. I think Bertuzzi is going to be the type who can play on any line, but his best usage is on an energy line that goes out stirs up crap, and forechecks.

    Cholowski playing really well

This sentence from the article made me laugh... "I don't want to say just a checker, I don't mean it in that sense but Kirk Maltby had 50 goals when he played junior and people that didn't see him play junior might not know that. " If you EVER watched a game when Maltby played it was mentioned a FEW times he was 50 goal scorer in juniors. .....

https://www.tsn.ca/dreger-report-examining-own-rentals-and-players-in-play-1.966418 The Detroit Red Wings are another team worth monitoring in the days and weeks ahead. The Wings remain competitive even though it would be best for the organization to flounder and sink into the mix of a top lottery contender. Mike Green is an obvious trade option in Detroit and there will be interest in the veteran, right-shot defenceman. Petr Mrazek is also widely known to be available. Based on his age, the 25-year-old goaltender might attract interest from clubs wanting depth at the position. Perhaps the most appealing among the options in Motown is talented winger Tomas Tatar. Tatar scored 25 goals for the Red Wings last season and has three more years remaining on his contract at $5.3 million per. The ask is believed to include a prospect and draft picks as Detroit continues to retool. With nine draft picks already in the bank, the Red Wings are aiming to add at least another two or three through trades. The team hopes to go into the NHL Draft in Dallas with a dozen picks or more.

That's because all GMs are fallible. When teams are contenders their GMs are praised. When the teams of those same GMs start to head South (which is a normal process in the league now) they became "washed up", "outdated", etc. When teams are loaded with talent and they're a contender, their GM's mistakes are less noticeable, even though the best Gms make them. When parity sets in, and their teams start to run its coarse toward a rebuild, their mistakes are magnified. Bowman is a good GM, but he's not perfect. As the 'Hawks continue to decline (and they will) its only natural that the "Bowman is an idiot" "Fire Bowman" cries start. It happened to Holland too, although not all of it unfair. Bowman was never as brilliant as Hawks fans once claimed and Holland is/was never as bad as Wings fans claim. It's the Circle...Circle of Life. (Read this as Elton John singing it) If you trade for BOGO is it a Buy One Get One Free scenario?

Unloading Bickell cost the Blackhawks Teravainen, a 2nd, and a 3rd -- and Bickell's contract wasn't even all that bad, Seabrook's contract is infinitely worse. It's going to bite them in the ass.
