"I've been hearing". "People are saying". Sounds like the same sources. And by that, I mean, people pulling words out of their asses. I'll believe Zetterberg is done when he plays zero games this year. Until then, writers gonna write.

What makes you so certain that there will be a contender in need of a goalie? That's not all that common... You know what is common? Teams (virtually every playoff team) looking for depth scoring at the deadline. Which is why players (centers / wingers / defensemen) are moved more often than goalies at the deadline, and usually have a higher price tag. I didn't say a 2nd was reaching. I just think that a 1st is out of the question, and I can see it being a 3rd, or even more likely, nothing... I'm not against Howard either. I love the guy and think he's a very underrated goaltender amongst Wings fan. I just don't see ANY goalie being in huge demand at the deadline, this year or any year. Unless of course, like mentioned there's a long term injury to a number one in that 3-4 week period leading up to the deadline. I wouldn't say that happening is all that likely. Possible? Sure, but not likely...

A second isn’t reaching for sure, and I’m not trying to knock Howard. I have no harsh feelings against the guy. I just feel like there are more variables at play with goalie deadline deals than player ones, that’s all. And while I’m not going to wish injury on anyone, it would be cool to see him take over as the starter for a contender at the deadline and go on a cup run.

I hope so, but I wouldn't expect much more than a 3rd to be honest. He definitely wouldn't get us a 1st. Maybe a 2nd if we're lucky, depending which teams (if any) are looking for a goalie at next year's deadline... Yup, pretty much what I was thinking as well. Howard is "worth" more than a 3rd and a s*** prospect, but I wouldn't bet on him getting a whole lot more than that for only a few months, unless a true contender loses their starter long term. Even then, there could be better / cheaper options out there as well.

I agree he’s probably worth more, but I think it’ll depend on the goalie market at the time. We may get lucky, but not a lot of playoff contenders are looking to add a goalie at the deadline. And non-contenders who want him would just wait until the off season to either trade even less for his rights, or just sign him as a UFA.

Thanks. Now every time I see the word process, I read it as PROH-SESS. I am literally annoying myself.

It’s just everyone saying they don’t know for sure yet.. which is understandable. It’s been the same process the past 3 or 4 off seasons, I’m sure. Until camp starts and he’s not there/talking at all and/or Z tells us that he can’t play, there’s no need to worry. There are just articles pointing it out because there’s nothing going on at this stage in the off season.. gotta get them sweet sweet clicks. (I don’t know what happened to the font size there, that wasn’t intentional)

    Rumors Thread

Yes. Hadn't read past the headline and the Panarin thumbnail, though. LOL @ us giving up Larkin and not even getting Panarin. Panarin sucks anyway. Pacioretty is the future.

Ok, that makes good sense. Should be an interesting year goalie wise.

I agree with you on that one. Kid needs to step up his game if he wants to be something. I'm hopeful.

I'll always remember Emery as a Flyer. Kinda the same I remember Chelly as a Wing.

The thing is, Mrazek in top form is still better than Howard in top form. And he showed that before he was traded. He's still a hell of a goalie when he actually gives a s***. That's his downfall, and this will no doubt be his last season unless he's ready to work. If he does work hard, he may surprise a lot of people. He's his own worst enemy. His skill set doesnt suck. His work ethic sucks. There is a difference.

How would you have preferred it? Frontways/missionary? What has eight legs, stinks like hell, and gets drunkenly thrown on the ice in Detroit each night? The Red Wings top 4 D

Zetterberg is done playing because he's had enough of Blashill and is unwilling to be coached. Guy has a bad back, clearly in decline and still plays 19 minutes a night. Like who does that? Is that even medically healthy? He's also the last one off his line every shift. Clearly his minutes need to decrease but he seems to just keep playing 19 minutes every time. I have a feeling this is him refusing direct orders from his coach. Completely reasonable to assume this based off the information available. Don't get me started on the Swedish Mafia stuff either.
