This forum makes me giggle sometimes and cry others.
Let me get this straight if I can pull this out of my... um memory banks...
When the Wings hit on a draft pick it is to the scouts credit.
When the Wings miss on a draft pick, Holland picked the wrong guy.
Lids leaves and the Wings have no replacement (for one of, if not the, best d-man ever, because those grow on trees) it is Hollands fault for not being prepared.
Holland is prepared for Dats leaving, finds a sucker another team to take his contract, and the only thing given up is the 16th pick, and it is an epic fail????
    Did I miss anything?

Eh, why not? The locker room is reportedly a mess anyways.
For real though, I would pass. Just give AA and Mantha the top-six time instead.

We're so bad right now offensively, that I'd sign Ray Rice, let alone Radulov. Impressionable youth can go become boy scouts. My concern is not his attitude, but whether he can still be a legit top 6 forward. Then again, we don't have many of those, so maybe it's worth a shot.

Larkin is not McDavid but I'm more than glad with Larkin. Already contributor and will/should get only better. I just hope that he will have right players to play with, someone like Lucic/Backes/Simmonds or even Wilson on his line will make him better and will create space for him.

Larkin is doing great. I didn't expect him to do what he's already done going into this season. He's beyond exceeded lots of people's expectations. He's cooled off lately, but it was bound to happen. No big deal. McDavid was the most hyped player since Crosby. He's got 31 points in 28 games on a last place team. If he wasn't injured he'd have alot more. Larkin isn't at his level.

McDavid is a generational talent, Larkin isn't. Please do not compare these two.

My wife and I named our first daughter Abby. Not after player, we just liked the name. After he signed I wanted to get her a number 8 jersey. I finally got around to it.
    She loves it!!

If he didn't extend his arms in a cross check manner, or avoid an opposing player right after hitting the ref, I can see the "He was concussed" debate.
But his actions tell me he was pissed there was no call on the play and took it out on the first Zebra he saw.

This kid seems to have an amazing head on his shoulders.
He is playing for his hometown team, cool as a cucumber.
Playing with guys that just 4-6 years ago he was idolizing, cool as cucumber
Playing as a rookie in the ASG, cool as a cucumber.
Breaks the fastest skater record, cool as a cucumber and as humble as can be.
Compare that to what happened with Sequin in Boston (I don't believe all of the stories, Boston sports teams are vicious when a player is on his way out), this kid has the makings of a GREAT Red Wing Captain.
I find myself drawn to anything about him right now, he is just an all around good kid, with great physical gifts.
I hope to see him in the winged wheel for a long time!

Wideman better not win an appeal, or else it'll be open season on the officials. Other players will take out their frustrations on them and say, "Oh, I was concussed". Expect the Union that represents the officials backlash if Wideman wins an appeal. I thought he should have miss the rest of the season.

I agree, I don't care if Wideman was concussed or not, there's no excuse to hit an official.

The issue with saying Panarin's point totals are only as high as they are because he's playing with Kane is Kane has never in his career scored at the rate he's scoring now. He's played with Toews, Hossa, Sharp and many other guys over the years and nobody has set Kane up at the rate he's scoring now. Maybe some of that is Kane rising to the next level and I would agree with that to an extent. But you can't discount Panarin and say the kid is essentially freeloading off Kane's numbers. Panarin is an active participant in all those points and that assist column has been well earned thus far.
Also it's not a good argument to bring forth because if it applies to Panarin playing with Kane, than it also applies to Larkin playing with (not as good but still pretty good) Zetterberg and Abdelkader. Fans of Domi want nothing more than for the committee to embrace the argument you're suggesting because Domi is on a line with Duclair (another rookie) and Hanzal, which is quite benign compared to Zetterberg, Abdelkader, Kane, etc. So if we're going to give Larkin a 15 point handicap on Panarin cuz he plays with Kane, then Domi getting a 3 point handicap on Larkin is just as justified.

I agree, still think he should get 10-15 games. I want the NHL to finally set an example on you can't touch the refs like that. Unacceptable.

I don't believe for a second that he didn't know what he was doing or didn't see the linesman. He was looking right at him and raised his arms to hit him. It's probably something he woudn't have done if he hadn't been knocked loopy, but he did it with intent anyway.

How about this for a happy medium:
Dylan Larkin is an elite member of his draft class.
See, now we recognize his (potential for) greatness, but also keep in perspective that he needs to do it consistently over multiple years before he is elite in the NHL!!!

    This i can dig.
I just have a hard time acknowledging eliteness in a player who is 66th in league scoring, ranking alongside the likes of Adam Henrique, and Frans Nielson. 48th in goals, 127th in assists, 85th in points/game. He is tied for first leaguewide in +/-, which is certainly worth mentioning, but I don't think that's enough to label him elite just yet.
If we are comparing him to other rookies? Definitely elite. If we are grading based on potential? Definitely elite. But if we are comparing him to the league as a whole and not putting limitations on his competition, then he hasn't proven himself to be elite in any statistical category other than +/-. That's not to say he won't next year, or the year after that, or averaged over his entire career. He just hasn't done so to date.
